I'm not sure if this has already been addressed but do people think rushing is going to be a problem in D3? Has Blizzard said anything in regards to preventing it? Would people rather like the option to rush similar to how everyone did in D2?
They tried to curtail it a bit in D2. For example, you can't just get the arcane WP in act 2 when rushing and same with durance WP in act 3. I guess my question also touches on the aspect of leaching in games. A problem, imo, in d2 was everyone would get rushed and then sit in a few hundred games and go from 20-80.
in d3, blizz has stated that there will be an exp cap for every monster so you wont get unbelieveable exp for monsters 50 levels higher than you
Well I'm thankful for at least this. Reminds me of the way they approached WoW. You could kinda power level someone but there were exp caps and it still took awhile.

I think D2 had something like this as well. When you were 5 levels above or below an enemy you would only receive 10% of the experience the give.
I'm pretty sure its been stated that Blizzard support rushing in d3. They want you to be able to rush your friends up to the same point as you so you can play together and further enhance the co-operative style game play. I can't remember where exactly I heard it but I think it might have been in one of the diablocasts.
Dont see no problem with people rushing to lvl 60 it wouldnt affect my game at all, and either would it affect anyone elses game i think.
Not entirely true because of the effect this has on the economy. Blizzard has explicitly restricted certain items to level 60 finds, so the fewer people that are level 60, the rarer and more expensive these items will be. I could see how having massive numbers of max-level characters will limit the ability for a hardcore gamer to really set himself apart. It might run the risk of allowing gamers to max out their play experience quicker if the best items are as easy to get and as cheap to obtain as they seem to be in D2. I like how D2 was in the beginning where a level 99 character was a far-fetched dream that only a single person obtained in a year.
I don't particularly think rushing should be an option but when D3 is 3-4 years old people will be pretty used to the content so rushing will be a more attractive way to play. Like when I beat borderlands on 2 different characters I learned about the way to power level a new character by exploiting the game.

It is like that in D2. Hell Chaos runs just gave such ridiculous amounts of XP that it didn't matter.
Yea I believe the monsters will go after the lower level person more than the higher level person I believe anyway probably dead wrong but I remember hearing something like that somewhere.........somewhere......over..the...rainbow........way..up..high

This is largely due to duping. The game was designed so that Enigmas would only be a handful a server, if that. Same with SoJ's. And, of course, once you have all this powerful stuff, runs became exponentially easier so that also affected item prevalency on realms.
Yeah, they didn't have a problem with rushing in D2 nor have there been any claims that rushing was broken game play. I'm sure it will continue well in to D3!

A QUADRILLION MAGIC FIND is worthless if you can't kill shit!
