What im wondering about is the scrolls of reforging, and the fact that it lowers the max durability by 10%... My guess is that it does not stack, it just keeps removing 10% from the new number, or else we can only use the a max of 9 times. I guess in a way its a good thing, risk having to re-find the item because the durability is to low after reforging? I just dont know. I have mixed feelings on this. What about you?
edit: also want to point out that the current scrolls dont go up to 60, its my personal guess that they just are not added in the current DB, as the high end gear is whats going to matter.

Like I said when I found it in the Database... I like it. It gives you the chance to change the properties (even of legendaries...) if you dont like them. Oh and I thing we can only use it 10 times... if you were able to use it endlessly that would defeate the purpose of finding new items. So I think it goes 100/90/80/70.../10/0 with this you have to think about when you better stop the reforging because you dont want to run to the town after every group just to repair your now perfect legendary...
But that just seems, I dont know. It makes you think before you keep trying to make it better, but I hate the thought of basically destroying the item to do so.
This does not work for item above level 50, which is the majority of inferno item so this is probably not the best way of power gaming
Yes it does o.0 there's more than one scroll, their limits just are not set correctly there
Read down below, changed my thoughts... but we know it does work on max gear, my guess is they just did not add the scroll in yet.
It's like being able to re-roll rares. Something which I wanted to do in D2 a lot, and something that you were able to do in D2 through private servers and the mods installed therein.
Of course this scroll will be pretty bloody expensive/rare, and it re-rolls ALL attributes. So if you have a rare ring with a really good stat but 2 sucky ones, you must decide if losing that single good stat is worth it; you could end up with something 430587x worse than you started with.

What are you talking about? All of the 3 qualities of the Scroll of Reforging have accurate listings, and all cannot be used on level 51+ gear. The first scroll is used only on magic items, the second on magic/rare, and the third on magic/rare/set/legendary.

The final test of the Serpent's Form takes place in "The Pit of 12 Vipers." The initiates are not told about the 13th.
I think the scroll is a decent idea... I feel that it will be OP for casters to use on their weapons, having to not worry about the durability of such meanwhile casting spells is their main source of survivability and damage output, leaving weapon durability trivial.

The only thing being discussed about the system is the dura loss ( for the negative), so if you like the system that's the option for you ^_~

Oh ok. I guess durability loss only implies that when you die and lose durability, you'll have to spend gold more often to repair durability.
it implies that theres a limit to how many times you can do it.
I also want to take back what I said before... I was refering to there being more than one scroll, so that each scroll would have a higher level it could be used on. However, each scroll lets you do a new type of item, still with a level o 50. we already know you can reforged all gear (60 at least thats what we were told) so.. that is kind of odd, my guess is they just did not add it to the DB (as theres not much of a reason to reforge the lower crap)
we don't know, if it always takes it from max, then it will only be 9 uses, if it does 10% from the new max.. then there is no limit (other than the item break a lot)
it implies that theres a limit to how many times you can do it.
Actually, that's an interesting subject.
An item has 93/100 durability. Use a scroll on it. It now has reduced its maximum durability (the red number) by 10%. 10% of 100 = 10, so the maximum durability would be 90. However the current durability must also scale to maintain its ratio. So take 10% of 93 which is 9.3 and subtract to acquire a current durability of 83.7. The game might round to 84.
Eventually you'll continue, taking 10% of 90 to obtain 81 as the max durability each time you use a scroll, and so on, until you reach a point -- somewhere with quite a low durability -- where the returns of 10% are insignificantly small. You'll never reach 0 durability, but it will get pretty low.
All of this mess could be solved if the game actually means "upon using this scroll the item loses 10% of its original maximum durability." This yields the "100, 90, 80, 70, ... max durability" scenario and limits the uses (because an item with 0 max durability is permanently broken...).
What's really interesting is what happens when you die. Currently in the beta, death warrants a loss of 10% durability of its current durability. It works out regardless of your max durability, because it still takes the same number of deaths before my items break. For instance, using example durabilities:
1) My max durability across all gear is 100. Upon death I lose 10% of my max durability, which is 10. Therefore I must die 10 times for my gear to break.
2) I've used 2 Scrolls of Reforging on all of my gear, each reducing my durability by 10% of the original 100, or 10. The max durability is now 80. Upon death I lose 10% of my max durability, which is 8. Therefore I must die 10 times for my gear to break.
It all works out if the Scroll text means "lose 10% of original max durability." If it doesn't I'm going to cry.

Thats the whole point of making the post, just dont know which way it will work. Should be interesting to find out.
Can't be used on items above level 50, no big deal.
and a good deal of items are missing from the DB, do you really think they would add a reforging system and not include a way to use it on level 60 items? makes no sense.

That's a really good point you make. Could it be possible that now that they've gone down the path of making magic spells a percentage of weapon damage, they will also treat casting spells as using it in a melee fashion, so it loses durability that way.
But then the armour durability of a wizard will hardly ever drop too. They should either make range/mage durability armours lower, or at least cost more to repair to try balance this.
Basically, you roll the item a couple times, then its a town portal fest every minute to repair the item. And I thought they were removing this type of gameplay. oookay...
Second, it won't work into hell and beyond, which, from what I am seeing will be where most players will spend their time, as you dont need to level to many characters now.
1) Town portals don't exist, you mean SoR
2) Durability is only lost when you die. This is not the Diablo II mechanic of durability.

I think it will keep the lvl 50 limit, I dont think blizzard's intent is for us to find awesome gear by using scroll's of reroll. They want us to find awesome gear by killing stuff. Killing stuff is more fun then pressing reset and crossing your fingers IMO.
I think the scrolls are fine. It's just an option to reroll a poor item in hopes of getting a better version. I can see this being used on items you use as you progress through the game. The durability loss is a fair trade-off imho.

5: 60->50
