I know they will not show this but i think it would be cool to see the two art styles that they dumped . I would like to see the difference from where they are today. And to see what Blizzard was thinking. The game art now not concept art. And to see how far they have come. Maybe after the game has been released they will let us see it.
Always cool to see what might have been and what is now. Judge between if the choice they made was a good one or bad one. But as HEET1330, said they probably won't show you until the game is released.
Since the art style is still a hot topic for some fans, I think they have decided to avoid feeding the criticism. I know blizz has shown a bunch of failed UIs and skill trees and whatnot and I would also love to see the rejected art styles but I'm not sure if we'll get to see it.

It apparently cooled down, and apparently all those haters now like the style...

"Not Even Death Can Save You From Me" ~ Diablo (II)
Well I never was a hater for the current art style. I thought it was way to early to judge anything especially after only seeing such a small portion of the game. But I would like to see the other two art styles. I bet if they released it we would be thanking Blizzard to high heaven for doing so. But would be cool to see where the old team was going with it and then when they intially moved down to southern cal.
WOW is not the best MMORPG.FFXI is the best... im a big fan of diablo but i hate WOW and all of is geak that think its the only one in the MMO world. ive played so much MMORPG and nothing can reach the diversity of FFXI.
I'm sure you guys saw that fan-made video where the gameplay demo was modified to look much, much darker. It was so dark that you couldn't see anything beyond your light radius. Not even close to how it was in D2. Anyway it looked like complete garbage to me but to my surprise a lot of people supported it. I don't get people...

It's a good thing, Blizzard dumped Blizzard North, the team 1 that was working on Diablo III. If you want to see the work of the previous team 1 and team 2. The guys from Blizzard North went to form a new companies called Flagship Studios and Castaway Entertainment.
Flagship Studios ... Hellgate: London & Mythos
Base of what I've heard, Hellgate: London was a failure and so is Mythos.
These guys haven't had a successful break-off of Blizzard. Perhaps a good reason, we saw them depart from Diablo III?
You can google search them. Images and everything, they're not up to par.
There were two other styles specifically that they dumped  Missed out on that update.

Before now it wasn't really in a state where we felt confident enough to announce it. Firstly, because of the design vision, then, when I came onto the project we felt we got a design vision quickly that we liked; then we struggled with the art style for a long time. That was difficult, we probably went through three art styles, two that we dumped completely. We ditched all the art for it and started over. And that's before we got to where we are today.
"
Maybe they'll show in the final release, as a bonus to completing some achievements (like gettin 4 classes to level 30) =D Would be really nice, I'd certainly work my ass off in gettin' to see those..

I played mythos for close to 4 months, It was probably one of the best diablo hack and slash clones Iv ever played. Its down fall was the lack of story line and the seemingly endless repetition aswell as terrible art style, all considered for a game that really should have still been in alpha testing and prosumably had a small production budget the gameplay was excellent
As was mentioned before, Iv watched several different videos of edited gameplay footage with darker colors and light radius' (all still viewable on youtube) and some definatly look allot better imo. Its definatly nothing thats going to stop me from playing and enjoying the game however.
I would be very intrested in seeing the dumped art styles myself, Its good to see blizzard still striving for perfection.
It's a new game, not a remake but a sequel. People should realize that and stop hanging on to the Diablo 2 style. If you want that style that badly, go play Diablo 2 then.
It's a simple as that.
I don't think the point of the topic is "We want the D2 style back"..
We want to be able to see what kind of art styles were dumped.. And no, we don't want it right now, so that we can criticize and say "OMFG, the second one was the best!! Bring it BACK!!"..
I think I can talk for everyone about this: We just wanted to see how it could've been, and the kind of art style they thought was worse than the one they've chosen!
Again, not right now, but would be a nice Reward at the end of Diablo 3.. Or even as an achievement..
Maybe we could even have a couple of dungeons based of these old art-styles (just the monsters and the dungeon - not the character for obvious reasons), as special homages to the "deceased art styles".. Could be fun..
I think that a big middle finger from Blizzard would accompany some screen shots of the old art styles very nicely. =]
Something along the lines of; "While we obviously appreciate and value out fans, we are going to continue to do what we believe is best for the games. This includes the art style. It is our game and we'll do as we please with it because we believe that we are fully capable of producing games of superb quality, as shown by our previous releases."
I think that something like that along with the screen shots would be completely awesome. =]
I just would like to see how the development went on it. I know Blizzard probably feels it is boring. But to hardcore fans i believe it is not. To me it would be nice to see how it all came together. Sort of like outtakes they put at the end of a movie. They include them for us all to see but the producer decided they were not good enough for the final cut. That is all i am saying. I would like to see the difference between Blizzard North and the new team put on it. We know what the third is. Just would be cool to see the differences .

But, I'm not gonna lose sleep if Blizz never releases shots of them. I'm completely content with the current art style.
