I agree, I think the game play is pretty key also.
I don't feel the art direction has strayed a absurd amount from where it should be. The graphics look good, the game play looks fun, the story is bound to be interesting. Should be a fantastic game.
Well, I look at it this way from my point of view: If I truly disliked change I would be still playing the ATARI 2500.......if that's any indication of how OLD I am. Anyway, games grow up along with everybody who has every played them. You can't say that Diablo going from 2.5 D to 3D ISN'T an improvement. It's obvious, also, that some things may not can be brought over with this kind of change. Just food for thought.

Yea... Except its the Atari 2600... Nice try though... If I can find my old 2600 I'll take a picture so you can see what one really looks like kid...
And some games shouldn't go 3D. Mario for example should of stayed 2D. But some games need the 3D jump. Diablo is one of them.

i agree with adam, its the core feel of the gaming, and its not like d3 looks like shit. It looks great IMO.
I would understand if you guys were bitching about it if it was shitty, but its not. It may not be what you want exactly, but its not shit.
Obviously complaining about the art direction isn't going to change it, so i suggest you learn to like it if you don't already.
You have a right to your opinion...but seriously...it gets old...
If you dont like it, don't buy it. Fifty thousand people not buying the game is going to say something. It may be chump change compared to monthly fees, but for a non-monthly fee game like Diablo, it says something. And if you can honestly and truely get 50k people to not buy it, they will do something.
Problem is, finding 50k people who dont like it...
Well, you have to realize, the minority usually speaks for the majority. Sessler, to me at least, seems like a very intellegent person, and I highly doubt he lumped all the Diablo 3 fans that had a problem with the game thus far in one group.
I like Sessler quite a bit. I just think he did do that in fact. Or at least kind of missed the point of some criticisms.

Considering the criticisms I've seen on this forum and of the petitions I've seen, and considering what I've seen of his intelligence, I doubt he missed the points of the more realistic criticisms.

I hope that came out right.
Yeah I think I know what you mean. What bothers me about the aesthetics is not the overall look of the game, but the constantly glowing weapons and light tracers. It's kind of arcadish to me. And so you could say that yes, I do complain about aesthetics. But only mine is a pretty specific complaint. And I still really like the overall look of the game.
Well, what about D2? Diablo 2 had glowing weapons. Shoot, if you got the right gear, your entire character glowed.
Or do you mean how it glows?
Personally I think the glow is a bit more realistic.
I talked all about it in another graphics discussion thread. My point is though is that I think it's okay to have a list of complaints without being labeled a crazy Diablo fanboy. And Sessler's segment sort of felt like he's saying it's not okay to complain about graphics. Or at least, that if you do, you certainly must hate change. And I welcome change just fine.

Ehh. He seemed to be in favor of change, but not to the point where if your against change your insane.
I think he focused more on the crazies as that's what was the major thing, and the loud ones are always addressed first. Always.
Ehh, guess we have opposing view points of the video.

Only I do understand where you're coming from. It just made me flinch a little the way he said it. Made me feel like I was one of those weirdo Diablo fans. Plus, that video game behind him....
stop bitchin adams right look at how you guys fuss over this shit so much stop bein babies and accept the fact its not changing and that 54k out of 55k sigs are bots not people so please stop bitchin

Not even Death will save you from Diablo Bunny's Cuteness!
Was anyone else hypnotized by the game showing on that monitor behind him on the left?
Geometry Wars is a fantastically fun game that can totally pull you in for hours >_< you've been warned buddy.
I think every point he made is what I've been agreeing with since the gameplay video and the rants have come about. I think it's dumb that people think that diablo 2 had no color and it was super dark and gritty yada yada yada. It had plenty of color people, it was 2d so you're prebulescent minds can only take in that little bit. I swear to god, those of you whining about the art direction need to stay in grade school. I really don't think you'd be able to handle the real world yet, you'd freak out at how grass turns green, rainbows form after a rainfall, and hell even after a fire can devastate a whole forest; that forest grows back more lush and green than before- oh snap.
The D3 lead designer already stated that to go with an all grayed out setup would totally ruin the game, the lighting, everything. Shadows would look totally mangeled and it wouldn't look appealing or fun at all. Thats right people " FUN " mmmhm I said it. I'm pretty pissed off at the fact that because of all this art ranting bullsh*t that the lead art director on D3 left, but nontheless they're keeping it goin.
I was really hoping to get ahold of blizzcon tickets this year to go and see some of this early D3 footage, but my jacka** buddy that was handling ordering my ticket ( work for the lose, I was afraid I wouldn't have a chance to get to my computer i time to order ) , had his computer literally crash when he had them in his damn checkout cart, and sure as all hell when he went back to order again they were gone, so he goes out finds a scalper buddy of his, buys his own ticket an blows me off, sigh.
I agree with Adam on what he said near the start of the video. Diablo III is the property of Blizzard and we all know Blizzard makes great games. I highly doubt they're trying to commit financial suicide when they decided with the look of Diablo III. It is their creation they can do whatever they want with it. Blizzard also said they're trying to reach a wider range of gamers/audiences with this new Diablo III so even if a couple thousand will never play a Bilzzard game ever again there will most likely be millions of new customers to replace the lost.
I never played Diablo I but I played Diablo II and I loved it for it's gameplay, although I never did enjoy the look/colors of Diablo II but the gameplay overshadows that.
It's true what he said about Windwaker also. I thought it was going to be utter crap because of the way it looked. The game was pretty awesome though, one of the top Zelda games for me.
I was outraged and hated the game, then I played it at a friends house and I realized that the gameplay more than made up for the graphics. Despite how it looked, it was still fun to play.
so this guy, Adam, goes and flames the flamers... seriously, that doesn't make him any better.
Nope. Not saying he's better at all. Just saying people need to calm down and wait to play the game or for more to be released before getting crazy over this stuff.
