PK brought way to many problems to HC at least, it should be optional, i'd rather have some kind of pvp system then random PKing when people are not ready and not on same ground.
I am really tired of everyone suggesting that those of us who want PK disabled in D3 to "go back to WoW". I, for one, have never played WoW, and never will. I enjoyed Diablo II for a good number of years, and want to be able to enjoy Diablo III in all its glory without the assholery of hackers and griefers breaking the immersion. I want to be able to meet other players and perhaps even make some friends along the way, not be forced to play by myself (may as well just play single-player if that would be the case). You can't make friends if you don't go out and mingle, and you can't mingle if you lock up your games where no one can randomly enter and greet you.
What you pro-PK children are proposing is called a "catch-22". Look it up and get back to us.
Cheers,
SmashBoy (ignorance is futile, you will be assimilated)
Exactly. It's not even like they kill you and leave in a game play involved like fashion. They kill you then sit there and say things like "LOLOLOLZ U R SUCH A NOOB LOLOL!11 I TOTLLY PWNT YOU WHEN YOU WERE FIGHTING DIABLOZ LULZ!!1"
It ruins the game. They kill you just to say "I have a bigger e-penis."
One other note: By incorporating a system that allows for hostile actions against non-consensual players, you cater to both groups. Carebears have their private games to avoid this style of play. If you remove this feature, you cater to one group and completely exclude the other.
One choice gives both sides options, one does not.
You claim it caters to both, but it clearly does not. How does your system of disruptive gameplay and broken immersion cater to the people who want to enjoy the gaming experience itself? It does not, so stop pretending to speak for a crowd you simply know nothing about.
I find it sad to see people are blaming game mechanics for their social shortcomings. Just because you had problems making friends in the cold cruel world that is D2, does not mean everyone did or that even most did.
Personally I didn't have any problems making friends, friends good enough that we set our vacations so that we can all get together and considering only few of us were even in the same country that has to count for something.
Please stop blaming PKs for your inability.
/facepalm
It's not about making friends, it's about PKs killing everyone just to get a rise out of it and cause grief.
Friends or not they will still do it.
So stop using "social shortcomings" as an excuse to PK.
If only you children could see yourselves as us adults see you now. How pathetic it is that you actually think it a good idea for a high level to PK a low level? That is just sad and pathetic.
I really loved Timaah's response...pretty much sums up there argument well:
Quote from "Timaah" »
and on your side all i see is the argument comeing from the people who couldnt hold their own in the pvp/pk system.
its that simple.. if you were good, you LOVED it.. if you were bad.. well, you know how you feel..
Wow, how freaking clueless does one have to be to figure this one out. I guess I actually need to explain this, which is kind of sad. Holding your own...so your argument is a lvl 10 is suppose to hold their own against a lvl 95? LMAO! I have to ask? Do you just plain suck Baals at games so badly you need such a unfair disadvantage? There is absolutely no difference when a high level goes after a low level and when one uses a hack to PvP against a similar level.
This is NOT skill, and anyone who even tries to argue that it is, well I can assure they are someone that gets owned 110% in every FPS game. Maybe that is why they want to come to D2 and PK maybe? Maybe you should find another avenue to vent your inadequacy in games...just a thought
I have a better suggestion, maybe some should try and learn how to play a video game, they are not that hard.
And I would love it? You got to be high or something. Sorry, I am a mature well-adjusted adult, meaning picking on people and deriving my pleasure form other's griefs is NOT my cup of tea mate. If that is how misfit 12 year olds want to play, then fine. But not in OUR game. You want to kill other players, go play COD4 (where I will obviously own your sorry @$$ seeing as you all pretty much have shown to have no skills)
Plain and simple argument kiddies. High level Pking low level is NOT skill, does not take brains, nor any abilities what so ever. It is the action of pathetic and sad losers. If you want to join that crowd, so be it. But you are NOT going to be doing it in D3..so ADIOS, GOODBYE, AU REVOIR. D3 doesn't need to be filled with a bunch of dumb little kids.
You have not addressed the largest and most concrete justification for the removal of PK (assumedly) in D3:
The dev. team has specifically stated and re-stated the D3 is first an foremost a co-operative game. This statement alone clearly reveals (as does the cited post) Blizzard's stance on PK'ing in D3.
PK is not intended to be an existent, much less substantial factor of play in D3.
Why is this the only defense that's needed? Because it's Blizzard's game, and if they don't desire for PK to be a factor in D3, then it won't, and it shouldn't. If PK is that important to a player, he / she won't buy the game. Obviously there aren't enough of those kinds of players to dictate D3 including PK.
I appreciate the passion and thought included in the OP, but it's time to face it. No matter how much you love to PK, Blizz doesn't want that to be a part of the D3 universe.
Case closed. Thanks.
I was writing a very long and dense response to this, but then a saw this:
''Because it's Blizzard's game, they can do what.. mimimimi''
That alone proves you know nothing about D2 or Blizzard.
btw OP has some very good points, and i do agree that D3 will lose some of it's essence without pk, but i also think it's time to change.
Get real, folks, the diablo you all knew is dead, a few years ago i said right here in this forum that D3 had a pretty good chance of being blizzard first bust (i was flamed to death ofc), and what you know, its not even beta and its already looking that way.

Erm how is it NOT Blizzards game? The people wanting PKing are a very small percentile over what will be the whole community of the game. Even if some of the new players are from WoW. A player is a player. Why should 15% have a say against the majority over something that contributes nothing to the game but grief to many and fun to one person?
I know you agreed it's time for a change, I just wanted to see your opinions on these questions.
Interesting post, but uh... what about people like me, who mainly just want to do PvE? I'd probably play some PvP, it's fun, but I'm not very competitive when it comes to Diablo, I just kill stuff to get cool items... but then again, I can't be killed instantly, right? So if somebody attacks me, I just have to survive until I get to town, and I can use as much pot as I want. So... pk is fine with me, I think.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Ranger - Ranged Weapon Mastery (fire a bow or javelins like a machine gun!), Traps (MK style!), Pets (lions, tigers, and bears oh my!) - physical damage based
Demonologist - Bone Spells (Necro style!), Avatar (shapeshift into a demon!), Furies (evil spirits that hang around you, giving party bonuses) - mix of physical damage and magic
LEAP ATTACK!!!!! PLAGUE OF TOADS!!!!!
SLOW TIME!!!!!
...want to be able to enjoy Diablo III in all its glory without the assholery of hackers and griefers breaking the immersion...
THANK YOU. You just proved my point.
The people you guys are angry about are people that use hacks to abuse the PK system. You know how hard it is to actually PK someone leveling in a random zone without hacks? That is without Maphack... without bots..
First, you got to find out WHERE he might be.
Second, you have to hostile, which will obviously change his location or even go into town.
Thrid, if he's not even in town by then, you have to chase him down and still find his location.
Lastly, kill him without dying himself.
That is A LOT to go through for a Legit Player, especially with the LOS in Diablo II which i HOPE and EXPECT to be in Diablo III, same as PK.
For someone that hacks, this whole process becomes a laugh, since Maphack tells you where he is, Bot teleports you there. There is also a bot that will hostile exactly when your teleporting through the waypoint, therefore no delay. Lastly there is a button that allows you to automaticly create a portal and enter town.
Seriously people. Stop bitching about PK when your mostly angry at the hackers, which has also become part of Diablo II... not one to be proud of but it has.

I think the Main problem is the HARDCORE feature, if players like to PvE and they survive against them, then a PKER comes in and kills them, they are dead forever... So unless you have a system which allows a player to get sent back to town if killed by a player and not die forever, something needs to change.
I think the main problem has been from playing HARDCORE on D2, thats where the main majority of the PKERS hang out. Killing a persons char forever is mighty cool for them apparently...

Well then the PKs would just wait til someone is doing Baal or Diablo, waltz in hit everyone to near dead and let the boss finish them off.
PKs are nearly all scum.

Yes killing a char is fun, very fun, perhaps you should try it before you make a pseudo-intelectual statement about it.

Lol, i have tried it, it gave me a rush, but in the end i felt bad, cause its happened to me(i decided to pk some lvl 14's, ages ago).
In the end its just bad, disruptive, non co-operative gameplay...
It's going to change, so get ready for what they do to it!

Please don't steal my lines, it's annoying.
Who says I never died? I died in PvP and I died of lag, I never died of PK though, that is not to say others didn't try, I just knew how to avoid them, even the TPPKers. Regardless of some here seem to think avoiding PKers, even ones with trigger hacks isn't hard, you just need to know what to look for.
Ok, so what am i meant to look for, if im playing with my friends and FOCUSSING ON KILLING STUFF!!! I shouldn't have to worry about some FU*KER stabbing me in the back... I want to kill stuff not have to worry about that jerk killing me...
PK's are the cyber equivalent of bullys... bullys deserve to be beaten up, severely. And what do most bullys do when they are hurt? Sit down and cry. It's much easier to beat up someone in comparion to being beat up yourself.

I know HOW to avoid PKs but I don't want to have to go out of my way when I'm harmlessly minding my own business and trying to have a nice cooperative game play to avoid them. Nor should I have to, or nor should anyone else in the game I'm in when a PK enters.
I thought this was a website full of people who say they'd piss their pants for Diablo III or something?
New people join, some are good, some are bad... Its just that the bad seem to piss off the good more often. Example, D2 right now, public games are PKville(in hardcore). So it's either Private games or make sure u have 7 friends who get in the game before the pker shows up!
EDIT: Oh and wow u joined after me, and have a ton more posts lol

Yes, now that PKing won't be a major part of D3.
Why should a small percentile be entitled to getting what they want more than the majority?
