posted a message on Diablo 3 trading forum?
I'd like to see some way to have the ability to do my D3 trading without having to go through sites like D2jsp or buying crap online. Think this site, or an official site, might open up bartering for in-game items without using actual cash trades? I'd like to see that, especially if it is run by Blizzard themselves to keep competition to a minimum. I like the "forum gold" concept, but it is operated on seedy sites and is something I would discourage.

Not too sure which Diablo you are talking about here. But I agree that only the 2nd Diablo should have the hole in his head. He's the only one that had a soul stone plunged in there. Since he needs to take over new bodies in order to materialize in the mortal realm the scar should stay with the body.

What ever happened to that soul stone anyways? Did Tyrael crush it at the Hellforge? I know the hero didn't do it, can't remember the cinematics that well...

Actually, the hero did smash Diablo's soulstone. It was in the cinematic.

They can't do anything about it. They're not doing anything illegal, and Blizzard has no actual legal custody of data besides some copyright stuff, which isn't being infringed.

Actually, I beg to differ. Blizzard owns the virtual items that are being traded via a currency not supported in the game. There is precedent for the creators of games taking action against players who violate their terms of service in this way.

I would totally love to have a shirt made, even if there isn't an official t-shirt out. The last time I owned clothing with logos was when Metallica was hot back in the early 90s. That goes to show how picky I am.

I agree. Though now that I think about it wouldn't it make sense for another returning character to be a female?

That way the females that play the Diablo series would kind of feel more at home also.

    Sorceress.

posted a message on Serious temp-ban issues here
Okay, when my wife and I lived in New York we played Diablo II with no problem whatsoever. We used the same router, she was operating on the same Vista-operated laptop that she is now, we both have the exact same copies of D2/LOD that we had before. The only differences now are that I have a new computer with Vista (as opposed to XP) and we are using Comcast cable internet instead of Time Warner/Roadrunner. We never had incident before, but ever since we started playing together again last night we keep getting temp banned.

Well, we both got temp-banned last night after having played for an hour or so in the same game. After completing act 2 with our new characters, she logged off for the night. Shortly after, I was temp banned. She checked to see if she had been too, and she, in fact, was. I went and tooled around on USWest for a bit then came back.

Just a bit ago, we had been playing for about 20 minutes, and after each of us having alternating latency issues, I finally got booted from the game and temp-banned (she did not). It's driving me completely mad! Can someone give us some insight as to why we're having this problem suddenly, whereas never before?

    Cheers,
SmashBoy (just wants to play some D2 with his wife)

Damn they will surely kill the diablo style in a mmo.

Honestly, I had heard rumors that D3 was going to be the MMO.

posted a message on Diablo 2 is available for download from Blizzard Store
Did anyone figure out how to solve the problem with the 26 digit key requirement? I downloaded Diablo II with my normal 16 digit key, but it somehow expects the addition of 10 mysterious new characters that have not been explained by any of the email correspondence from Blizzard.

Try to use the Blizzard downloader. Otherwise you're screwed.

But, you said it was a new PC. Just reformat it.

That's great news. "Well, honey, I went and got you started on a game just in time to stop playing it with you. Have fun!"

How would re-formatting help? That's not even a possibility, it's not out-of-the-box new, have only had it two months and it already has so much stuff on it that is necessary. Doing a complete format for one game would be silly.

That said, I don't know what the downloader is that you speak of.

Edit: Just looked up the downloader, that's for downloading the patch. The patch is fully installed already.

Oh look, your first post, have you read it?

Please, let me know when you are done trolling. I have stood by, post after post, every single point I made in that first post. Unless you decide to contribute something, other than this lackluster troll that you've attempted to build, you and I are done conversing.

Can i report an entire thread? he triple posted and double posted... SPAMM!!!!!!!!!!

anyways - its not that we dont like your opinion, its the way you express it. "i hate the jav!!! its so UGLY!! UFAWKLFAWJKFA" Its not ugly, its pretty beautiful if you ask me. But i just dont see whats the problem with a javelin. You throw them, monsters die. Death is cool.

And there's nothing wrong with disagreeing, is there? But the responses to this thread has been the equivalent of "well, too bad, just shut your mouth and deal with it".

    Cheers,

posted a message on Having installation issues with D2:LOD
My wife and I each own full copies of D2 and LOD. To set the stage here, I recently got a new computer. She already had LOD loaded on her laptop, so I installed it freshly on my new computer. Well, we were missing one of the LOD CDs, so I ended up playing by myself for a while, until she came across the missing CD today. So, we tried loading it up and playing together and it turned out that, apparently, I had installed the CD Key she already had on her laptop.

So, the ugly mess begins. I tried doing a warm reinstall (no files deleted) and it didn't even pretend to ask for the CD key. I (stupidly) deleted all the files and tried a fresh install (yet again), and now I cannot get it to install properly whatsoever. My LOD CD has been scratched or something because the d2xtalk.mpq file will NOT WRITE AT ALL, but I copied the file from my wife's installation the last time I pulled this off and it worked fine. The last time I did that, I installed it until it stalled at that file, copied that file over, started the installation procedure over and it simply skipped up to just past that file in the process. NOW, however, every time I try to do an install, it keeps re-writing all the files over again, so it just stalls out at d2xtalk.mpq over and over again.

First, I tried making d2xtalk.mpq read-only. Well, the installation program threw a fit and shut down. Secondly, I tried just copying ALL of the missing files from my wife's installation and then running the program from there. The result of that attempt was unusual...
    • It demanded my Diablo II play CD instead of the LOD CD.
    • It ran Diablo II instead of LOD.
    • When I entered Battle.Net, it patched to v1.12 and then insisted I put in the LOD CD.
    • The screen changed from the Diablo II intro to the LOD intro.
At this point, I thought everything was good to go. However, attempting to join Battle.Net gave me the following error message:

    Unable to Identify Version

Battle.Net is unable to properly identify your application version.

For more information, please visit www.battle.net/support/errormessages/

And the site basically says to re-install, which I've now done three times tonight alone. My wife played for a couple of hours and decided to go to bed since I could not join her at all tonight. *sigh* I swear, shit like this happens every time we try to play a game together.

    Can someone help out here?

    Cheers,
SmashBoy (why does Murphy hate me?)

SmashBoy, you have yet to give a real coherent reason as to why they were so bad. I liked the Javelin skills; does that mean there is something wrong with me? According to you, probably so. If they were as bad as you suggest, Blizzard would not have implemented them. No, Blizzard is not perfect in everything they do, but this is hardly one of its "major flops".

I spent the entire thread saying the exact same thing over and over. They dedicated an entire skill tree to one weapon, a weapon which I personally didn't even like. I don't think there's anything wrong with you, any more so than the people who liked the ice/fire/lightning trees of the sorceress. You people need to get through your head that I'm as much entitled to my opinions as you are to yours.

    Quote from "Doppelganger" »
Silly me, i thought you were arguing the wrong thing.
You see, i thought this tread was called "NO MORE JAVS", as in "the weapon" and not "the skills the amazon has". Kinda like if an entire set of skills would revolve around, lets say, maces, then it would make perfect sense and it would be enough of a reason and argument to make a thread called "NO MORE MACES".
    Sorry for my misunderstandment.

No, I despise the javelin weapon as well as the fact that one stupid weapon has an entire skill tree devoted to it. I would love to have javelins removed completely from the game. I also realize that it is just my opinion.

But I also used this thread to mention my dislike for entire skill trees being focused entirely upon a single weapon or combat style. That is also an opinion, it may not be as "controversial" as the first opinion, but they are both opinions I expressed in this thread.

What part of "my wishlist" didn't you understand from the thread title, exactly?

    Cheers,
SmashBoy (considers taking a snapshot from dictionary.com of the definition for "opinion")

4 Skills are Jav only...not "a large number"...The other 6 can be used by both Spears and Javs...

Smash, you're really showing your ignorance here...this thread reads like:

Smash: "waaah! I hate javs! no javs in D3!!!"
    Rando: "Javs were good fun."
Smash: "NO JAVS IN D3! I DON'T LIKE THEM!!!"
Rando: "There is historical evidence that javelin like weapons were used in real life..."
    Smash: "Don't care! silly!!!"
    Rando: "But.."
    Smash: "NO JAVSSSS!!"

How is not liking something, ignorant? It's not like I didn't give a thorough explanation. And that's 40% of the entire skill tree as javelin only, if 40% of your wages were garnished each week, wouldn't you consider that to be a "large portion"? Either way, javelins and spears are not dissimilar enough to justify the use of an entire set of skills in this way.

And honestly, it reads more along these lines:

Smash: "I really just don't like them, but here's why..."
Rando: "Well, too bad. Shut up."

    Cheers,
SmashBoy (thought the purpose of forums was the exchange of opinions and ideas)
