Maybe they'll listen to the fanbase in wanting a darker atmoshper, and instead of reworking the game and what they have now.. they're start throwing darker and more sadistic things at us in acts 3 4 and 5 (maybe 2 if they haven't already done a lot on it) since they're apparantly already done Act 1... tho.. bunnies and rainbows still gonna be akward..
I love the new graphics now! What I have come to realise is, they are 100000 better than the shitty, yes shitty diablo 2 graphics already, and 3d simply calls you to try all kinds of cool new elements in the graphics, so I'm not against clear improvement.
Also, the Diablo 3 artstyle does not strike me as too similar with Warcraft, I do find it far, far more realistic, and to a satisfactory extent.
There is a difference between graphics and artistic direction. You can take Diablo which had shity graphics and follow up on the gothic, dark atmosphere that it conveyed, without getting rid of 21st century contemporary graphic standards. However, I am 100% against "starting over." I love everything about the level of detail and slightly animated features, although I HATE, yes, HATE, the bulky out-of-proportion cartoony shoulder pads. That, for me, is the big thing that ties it in with WoW.
On a final note, if this game ended up looking like the photoshopped screenshots (minus the grainy texture that I assume was unintentional) I would be very happy.
Except that D3 is trying to cater to a larger range of computers than Oblivion.

For the last time a game does not have to look like wow to have low system requirements!!!
I'll ignore the part about it looking like World of Warcraft. It's detail is the way it looks because of the sheer amount of enemies and attacks that will be flying about on screen. Blizzard already said they tried making the graphics the Diablo 2 way and it did not work, the game was not satisfactory. You guys want them to return to the unsatisfactory way?

I didn't sign it , and I I love the way it looks. I think it's going to be a really great looking game with a great story. I think a lot of you are really being to judgmental about the first videos and pics. Just let the Blizz do there jobs and be happy they are making a 3rd.
I just feel like Blizzard winged it allittle bit here. Instead of taking time and carefully polishing this game to perfection they would rather roll out a product as soon as they can even if it means using outdated Chaos Engine.
I was really surprised D3 is announced so soon since they have SC2 planned as well as WotLK WoW addon and some possible future addons for WoW.
It would seem that for the next few years Blizzard fans would be all set with their games, so Blizzard would really take their time to polish Diablo 3 to perfection with realistic characters, shiny armor, gloomy athmosphere etc..
Light radius is crap. It makes no sense that I can't see monsters 10ft ahead of me.
light radius is not crap, it has to be in diablo3 it gives you a sense that your are going into the unknown and uncharted area and makes you weary of your next step and it has to has to be there in d3.

Please, please, please tell me you know how absolutely stupid you sound saying all of that when THE FINAL PRODUCT HASN'T LAUNCHED YET.
but the production process is already years underway with graphics engine and art desicion being made years ago instead of waiting to see what the competition like Oblivion has to offer, which is essentially rushing it. They have already showed us a long video with 2 characters done so unless they are going to drastically change their direction or graphics cause of the petition, which I doubt they will then D3 will look pretty much like this only with more locales and charecters.
You can't really wing something that has taken multiple years to make. And I don't feel that Oblivion and D3 can be compared. If you tried to fight as many mobs in Oblivion as in D3 you'd fry your computer, especially if they were all caster types.
The reason they're working on some many games at once is because they're a business and thus they want to make as much money as possible. They want to keep gaining revenue, so they're going to release more games while they have the flexibility to do so. This is why they probably won't take the time to change the graphics, especially with the fact that they've changed direction twice so far. Frankly, we should be happy that they chose to make D3 with WoW so popular.

adjusting gamma wont prevent textures from looking softy and plastic, and also fix the huge pauldrons (cartoony shoulderpads), remove the neon green light and dream blue fog on the abyss in the cathedral dungeons that cain himself claimed to be so dark: "We got disoriented, which was easy to do. It was so dark....". Now compare waht he says to the 3 screenshots from tristran cathedral .... http://www.blizzard.com/diablo3/world/dungeons/tristramcathedral.xml
and a note: this is not graphics, but art direction
light radius is graphics
Actually large part why oblivion lags is draw distance, I would imagine in Dungeons surrounded by shadow the lag is drastically reduced.
And there should be option to trun graphics down if your PC can't run it smooth.
And yeah it makes sence for them to wing it from a revenue standpoint but from a gamer standpoint it's a hack job
And I'm speaking from a gamer standpoint. Gamer, who has standarts not the "ZOMG D3 I GOTS TO GET IT" standpoint. I buy games based on how good they are not just the Blizzard brand. I skipped WC3 all together due to it being mediocre.

real problem are textures and models, trust me, both do few impact in-game performance
corefans will have some fun looney tunes chair in-game. could be worse... but dont changed my mind.

Nope. I don't. Everyone can say what they want about waiting 2, 4, 6 years for the game to be perfect, but I don't know I would even be playing video games in 4 years. Thats a long ass time. Hell, in 4 years, I could have gone back to and finished school, joined the peace core, and be back from my first 2 years of service. Like I said, 4 years is a long time.
