I have at least one friend who I know is going to play this for like 3 years straight... And I can prolly get one of two of my old close friends who played LoD to join me.
im probably gonna do ladder with my friends 99.999% of the time. I voted over lan because that'll be the first thing i do, if only for five minutes while i wait for my friends to get on ladder
i will definitely be going it alone on the first run through... and if i played multi it would only be with friends... i do not like playing with strangers because you cannot trust them not to kill you and steel your loot...
Forget playing bnet first. Bnet is for rushing and playing with friends, not the story. I want the story first. (Granted, I may play with a certain person in a co-op first...)
I've played a long time on single player, and even today I still play a lot on single player even on closed bnet.
Being alone makes the game more difficult and the boss fights more interesting and more rewarding.
When you are alone you have to deal with the items the enemies dropped and relay mostly on your skills to survive whereas when you are in a big party you just watch your friends killing monsters while spamming the attack/skill button mindlessly which grows old pretty quickly.
Of course for the first time I'll play for the story so I'll obviously play single player, even it's in a private game on bnet.
Why do people put online and rushing into the same category? I see no reason why you cannot start online, enjoy the scenery and the lore AND your friends and others, without feeling like you need to rush through it.
I thought it was just me, but it does seem to be a trend to rush through things online. I don't know why. It might be tied to the age of the game though. I know i've seen the cinematics and stuff so many times I skip through them.
My first time or 2 though will definately be single player then when I got the hang of it and have picked my class (like it's really a choice go Pallys) I'll hit Bnet with strangers and friends.

If you want to arrange it
This world you can change it
If we could somehow make this
Christmas thing last
By helping a neighbor
Or even a stranger
And to know who needs help
You need only just ask

as soon as i get it i'm skipping some days of school, my teachers will understad as well.
Can't let other people get a head start!
If they're the type of professors that would understand, they should be playing too.
I´ve always found that playing co-op story modes in any game to be a lot more fun than solo
It's the decisions you make when you have no time to make them that define who you are.
So Bnet puts the blo in diablo? I agree.
