No damn martial artists. I will say it again, this is Diablo, not dragons balls z.
No damn Ninjas, and no damn Samurai.
The witch doctor was pulled from DII from kurast.
And the monk was not in a blizzard game. That was part of sierra's knock off expansion.
The pally will return as a knight, and he will be bad ass.
The assassin in D2 had a martial arts tab. I guess you never played that one. It's not too far fetched that they could have a class like that. I think if they do it should have a japanese influence, like a shogun warrior with D2-like splint mail.
I done nothing but looking up d3 on the internet and see the game play video upteen times.
I have a logical theory on the other 3 hero classes.
1.Paladin
reason: Look at the world of sanctuary map.
theres is an area or country Westmarch!
since the paladins are the knights of westmarch
probability 95%
2.Druids / or shaman
as the other members have pointed out , the druid could be a shamam
The location (my guess) the sharval wilds.
probability 75%
3.I Don't know
Seriously now we have 2 fighter types barb and pal,
2 magic user/summoner
probably a specialist range attacker with minor tanking ability/summon
Just MHO the amazon will be replace.
why?
The Amazon can't be male..
As if you guys know blizzard
99% chance there is gonna be an expansion
Adding 2-3 characters!!! woo hooo
probably in 2 years time lol
that is very logical of you
Paladin is a must! I would never forgive Blizzard if they replaced my paladin.
Seeing as there IS selectable gender for any class, Sorceress and Amazon cannot be a class.
There has to be balance between classes, plus Blizzard is starting from scratch it seems.
Witchdoctor caters to both Necro and Druid fans. I'm doubting having 2 summoner classes.
Barbarian is only the necessary fighter class in any RPG.
We need a Holy class (also healer) = Paladin. Who also serves as a fighter hybrid.
Pure caster = Sorceror/Magi
Ranger class = Ranger? From Diablo 1, the Rogues are female, even the story "The Sisters of the Sightless Eye". Diablo 2, it was the Amazon. Now the story needs to allow this class a male char. This will also probably be a sneaky class, implementing both assassin and Amazon type skills.
I think the Assassin had too much potential to not get re invited back... I like the idea of a ranger, utilizing traps, bows and hopefully some martial arts combo's.
I definitely think the druid is out, but I also think the druid is basically fused with the necro to become the witch doctor.
You are totally right, The Druid is not coming back, he was an expansion character anyway. I think they are going to start with these 5 core classes then when the expansion or new patch comes out they will add mabe an assian or Theif, something cool like that.

So far I want to try both classes because they are so different skill wise. Blizzard is making sure replayability is high in diablo 3 so we never get tired of playing or creating a new char
we should not unlock the thaught about the paladin yet since he is a holy knight u know. but he could easely be replased by lets say knight templar for example.
i never played with the paladin can someone clue me in to why people love him soo much?
Fixed
Because he can get 82% chance to block physical attacks and 85% resistance to all elements - thus becoming almost unstopable. Also, he can freeze everything in a very good radius and deal craploads of damage by using Zeal and switching Fanaticism/Holy Freeze like crazy
Dunno what's so good about hammerdins, thought
Nice idealogy their Deac as i knwticed the same thing. were both very smart seems like...lol
my 5 class predictions (hopefulls)
-barbarian
-witch doctor ( basically overtook necromancer) dont judge it know as many people u dnt know what else it packs inside
-paladin/angel char i wish i hope, i pray that something like this will exist please blizzard
-ranger- Assasin/ranged attacker mix
- bring back the diablo 1 mage, with one focus but diversity in skills. and energy
If they take out paladin, the basic essence of Diablo will be taken away. Think about it...Diablo I and II were in essence Heaven vs. Hell. Furthermore, Sanctuary is/was the battleground. IN ADDITION, Heaven's mild embodiment on Sanctuary to combat the Burning Hells was creating in the paladin class, which was the Diablo II dev teams favourite class in terms of lore. Thus, if they leave out the paladin class...alot of people won't be coming back. Sure, the barbarian was awesome in Diablo II...hell, I had a WW barb, a farming sorc and a hammerdin/smiter alot like many veterans of DII. But if they leave the paladin class out all together, it'll be unfortunate. Plus, they can't just fuse him with another class...he is all about being PURE and STEADFAST. The barb embodies a bit of that, but he is the token berserker. No way can the paladin be mixed with any other class, as it would contradict all that the class stands for.
KEEP THE PALADIN ALIVE!
NB - Blizzard, do NOT do what you did to the WoW Paladin...please -_-'
I was giving this some thought and i realised how blizzard introducing gender to the classes means they have to be careful about what they name their classes. The classes need to be male and female friendly, both lore wise and name wise.
They cant use sorcerer or sorceress because those two titles are gender specific, ie: sorcerer refers to a male and sorceress refers to a female. It will most likely be called a mage or caster. Maybe an elementalist.
They shouldnt use amazon because amazons are predominantly female, read the lore if you dont beleive me. A male and female version of the amazon would be the viking, but it bears too much of a resemblance to a barbarian. Scratch the amazon.
An assassin and a rogue bear too much of a resemblance to one another. They will combine the two along with a ranged attack style into a class like a marksman, ranger, etc.
The necro has been replaced by the witch doctor.
The druid is a legitimate possibility.
The paladin is also a legitimate possibility and will most likely be included in the 5 classes of diablo 3.
Remember that there will more than likely be an expansion, which like LOD, is bound to introduce more character classes.
So my guess is:
Barbarian
Witch Doctor
Mage
Ranger/Marksman
Paladin
So, um, in case no-one noticed there are 2 stickied threads regarding classes in the same forum ^_^.
As I posted in the other stickied thread, I'd like to see the Sisters of the Sightless Eye and Vizjerei Sorcerors [sic] again. It'll be interesting to see what Blizzard does with the classes now that they want both male and female versions of classes.
I know this is unlikely, but I would like to see the archer and mage classes split by gender as follows.
The reason for the distinction is because I'd also like to see a difference in the skill trees - enough to match up with the lore but not so much that they might as well be regarded different classes.

Just thought, i'd throw in my 2 cents... I LOVED the assassin. In every RPG i play i hate rouges, but in Diablo 2 i loved the assassin... maybe it's just the name. Assassin is so much cooler. anywho, what i'm trying to say is god forbid there is a mix between assassin and zon. --> no rouge or ranger combo where both have martial arts and bow jav. UNLESS YOU CALL IT NINJA CLASS!! bows and martial arts! haha...back on track... a rouge or ranger combo is like trying to merge the hunter and rouge together in WoW. I made AND played at least 10 characters in Diablo 2.... 4 of them were assassins. Keep the assassin. SH!t.... keep em all! There are going to be some die hard Diablo fans that have been looking forward to Diablo 3 forever. Someone that wasted away their days on their Druid, Necro, Pally, Assassin.... And the chance their favorite class isn't going to be brought back.... i dunno, i kinda think that is disheartening.

One dev said he didn't want to make any differences between the sexes so nobody could say they're biased toward one or the other; it's a purely aesthetic choice. But maybe they'll have sub classes, or the ability to choose factions, which will slightly change your skills/skilltrees.

What would the paladin's signature skills be? An aura, a flying hammer skill, a shield bash? Barb took charge. Maybe a DotA-Omniknight like self heal/aoe damage skill? Weapon enchantments? Immolations?
I just can't think of anything that interesting or fun to play, for the paladin... but I never much liked playing him in D2 either. *shrug*

Ranger - Ranged Weapon Mastery (fire a bow or javelins like a machine gun!), Traps (MK style!), Pets (lions, tigers, and bears oh my!) - physical damage based
Demonologist - Bone Spells (Necro style!), Avatar (shapeshift into a demon!), Furies (evil spirits that hang around you, giving party bonuses) - mix of physical damage and magic
LEAP ATTACK!!!!! PLAGUE OF TOADS!!!!!
SLOW TIME!!!!!
There's plenty of Paladin "signature" skills; Starting with the auras. Moving on to Zeal, Sacrifice and Vengeance.
Don't want a Paladin? Opt for a Inquisitor!
Uhhh.... if there is a paladin, please don't call it Inquisitor. It reminds me too much of Inquisition. Baaad connotations...

that's my vote.
