Just wondering if anyone has found a definite answer. Using a summoning WD build, are the summons, ie, toads, locusts, zombie dogs, etc ... considered 'allies' ??
Basically, if using Big Bad Voodoo, will it effect all your summons, or is this something to pick only if playing with other people ?
I can't seem to find an answer leaning one way or the other, so Im asking here.
Spells that grants bonus to allies does not effect frogs, spiders, or any other WD skill except zombie dogs (maybe gargantuas and fetish army). They do not count as allie.
Frogs and Spiders are nothing but animal shaped fire bolts.
"Recite a Mantra that grants you and all allies within 40 yards a 25% chance to dodge attacks. Lasts 3 minutes."
Allies are everything effected by this kind of ability. Those are:
1. NPC that follows you and fight (have HP and attack enemies). Includes summoned minions and followers.
2. Other players.
Witch Doctor's suicide animals and zombies aren't allies, they are spells. Now if you come up with a definition of allie that is not used in the game, i don't kno what to say. People have the impression those suicide animals works more or less like summons (thats why they ask if mantras and other party buffs effect then) but thats not the case.
In those matters (skill x works with skill y) how the skill looks and it's flavor is irrelevant. It doesn't matter if you throw a frog or a fireball, you're throwing a projectile that does damage uppon impact. And thats not an allie.
That not an definition, thats the meaning of the word (two things completly different).
In D3 ally is defined as:
1. NPC that follows you and fight (have HP and attack enemies). Includes summoned minions and followers.
2. Other players.
The meaning of words doesn't matter but the definition in the relevant context. This is a D3 forum and the relevant context is D3. Now if you don't kno the difference between a definition and a meaning we can't argue any longer.
They are allies by assisting you in battle. Period, there is no getting around this.
they are not allies in D3. when the game says "[skill x] works on allies" it does not work on toads, spiders and zombie chargers. So those do not count on allies.
Now if you're discussing the meaning of the word allie and not what "allie" means inside D3 mechanics you just didn't read the OP or are really retarded or are just a troll.
I don't care what the skills refer to when it says "allies"
But the OP does. And this is a forum, you SHOULD be talking about the thread's topic. so far you just trolled and off topiced instead of contribute to the discussion or answer the OP's question.
As for me, i believe when they mention allies, they mean anybody who'll figure up in your party. As you can see your minions (dogs/gargantuan) up above with their health bar and such they are allies.
Players in your party, are allies
Althought, allie exclude yourself unless specified.
Hope it helps you out and answer well your question

Arcane orb is just a mass of energy, not alive.

PS: Theres no definition of ally outside D3. Theres no such things as definition of words. Inside D3 toads and spiders are not allies.

This is correct. Please disregard the post count troll

Toads and spiders are living creatures in sanctuary and are helping your cause, therefore they are allies.

However, the buffs do not go towards the toads and spiders etc.
