I don't know if D3 will really be released this year (I hope it will), but it would really be something if it did. It'll be my senior year in high school, so I probably won't have much time to play either extensively, but I will surely enjoy the few hours a week I do get with them. I plan on doing my senior year right, like actually having a dedicated sleep schedule and actually doing my homework when I get home. That'll be something that interferes with my game time, most definitely.

I read that article and then I read the comments. Great article, I love the influx of previews that have come out in the past week.
Either I'm terrible at deciphering sarcasm over the internet or some of the people writing these comments are just stupid on a cosmic scale. Like, this whole thing with Speedtree, why does that make any difference? It's just another mechanism of placing foliage. If anything, I welcome it's exclusion because I think trees should be placed logically as opposed to just painting trees throughout the landscape like they're nothing.
Comments didn't really make me angry, but I'm just astounded that people either find that funny or are certainly concerned that the exclusion of a foliage placing system will ruin their Skyrim experience.
Edit: I also don't see why people say, "since Oblivion sucked, I am wary about approaching this game."
Yes, Oblivion sucked, I'll admit it. It had its qualities and it also had some major downfalls that can make or break a game for many players, but it's not like Todd Howard sat down with his team and said, "Oblivion was amazing in every aspect and I want to continue that." They have influences from Fallout, god damnit. This is not the same game that Oblivion was and I'm sure that, in Todd Howard's list of things to do, "Not Making This Oblivion 2.0" is way up there. He even said that Oblivion fucked up a lot of things for the Elder Scrolls series and one of his primary focuses was recapturing the "feeling" of Morrowind [source: http://www.pcgamer.com/2011/03/11/bethesdas-todd-howard-oblivion-sacrificed-what-made-morrowind-special/].

Yeah most people were expressing that they were just fine with their being no Speedtree cause it did seem funny that the author of the article emphasized this point so much.
I'm sad they're still using that stupid term Radiant AI. In Oblivion there was nothing radiant or AI about making your npc's doing their dailly routine like clockwork.
Also I'm so happy there won't be any scaled leveling. But I think that was already announced some time ago. And how cool is it there will be perk style level bonuses?
I think if you want to have a weapon and a spell you have to choose a one handed weapon first. And from what I understand, having a spell equipped allows quicker access to it, but you can still cast spells at a slower rate if you have a two handed weapon.

I think that's one of the main reasons why I'm buying this. I liked perks in Fallout and I always figured that the same system could work for Elder Scrolls. I'm stoked to see what the perks will actually be.

Interesting when you think about it. How Bethesda brought new life to the Fallout franchise, but then the ideas of the original Fallout are being incorporated into the latest Elder Scrolls. Could've been worse for Fallout anyway.
Im pumped for this game. Don't want to wait. Perks were always a fun thing. It's rewarding to gain some power every time you level.
I found it interesting you can dual wield the same spell. You can either use them one at a time or you can use them both at once to do more damage or heal for more.
I feel like the wait for this game is gonna feel longer than the 2+ years I've been waiting for Diablo 3. It just looks really good so far and it seems like they're trying their best to create an awesome experience by fixing all the crap that was wrong in Oblivion and bringing in things that worked for Fallout.

I dunno, trying to keep things optimistic. I will admit that the prospect of D3 being released this year grows dimmer every month, but they said that they wanted to release it this year.
I think that you could draw comparisons between the way that Bethesda and Blizzard developed their games and their press releases and such, but the glaring difference is that Bethesda had the nerve to announce an actual release date back in December. God damnit...

Yeah, they didn't remove any skills. They combined skills into certain trees so you don't have to level up every one of your "Major skills" (which I'm pretty sure they've abolished) to gain a level. They want to make it so that it's easy to choose something and succeed without much of anything blocking your progress or taking your attention away from your chosen "profession" (as they would call a warrior class, a mage class, or a "bandit" class).
The first thing to note is that there won’t be a class system in Skyrim, your character develops from scratch based on the skills you decide to level up, meaning it’s possible to create a rounded character who can do a bit of everything, or go slap happy with a sword and take a more focused warrior role. As in Oblivion, the individual skills you level up contribute to an overall level. When your character advances you get to attribute extra health, magika or stamina. There won’t be a level cap, but your character will find it harder and harder to level as you stack up the skill points. Character creation has been improved and you’ll be able to choose from one of 10 races when creating a character.
