I figure with the release of 1.05 looming over our heads we should have a compiled how to farm act ___ thread instead of 50 different threads. That way the players used to Act 3-4 can know what to do in 1-2 or vise versa.
My personal Act 1 method.
Start in Festering look for the 2 caves there check everywhere outside in case of Gob. Tele back to town once cleared. 2-4 packs depending
Northern Highlands for tower, if there isn't a tower just kill all mobs on the way to manor. There is no sense in losing out on the 3-5 packs in the tower just because you don't want to look there. Not only that but in the Highlands themselves there is usually a goblin plus 2 packs.
Manor outside or inside there should be 1 maybe 2 packs in total.
Halls of Agony 1 there should be 1-2 packs here. If you find the axe trap before you get a pack or two go back and find them.
HoA2 again 1-2 here
Passage I've seen one here but it seems rarer and rarer now for me. But if there is a merchant sell your trash here rather than go to town. (I'll go through my current trash check at end of thread)
Warden area (Can't think of the name for the life of me) 2 packs occasional goblin. I would personally prefer to clean then prisoners but that doesn't happen. My tip when you are heading towards the south section go through the center where the Warden spawns. There is nothing like fighting off the Warden plus a pack.
HoA3 again 1-2
Butcher I don't think I should explain that.
Notes: in the HoA there is on occasion 1-3 goblins. I've seen him spawn at the stairs to go to the second floor I always give a once around there just in case. The other locations I can't say for sure of.
My method of trash sorting. I personally pick up all items with magical props. I salvage anything that sells for less than 1,000. Unless it has the flavor of the patch roll. Right now we are on crits. If it has crit chance or crit dam I will throw it in my stash and price check. If it is worth something then I will list it. Everything else gets vendored. Most of my easy gold is made from salvaging. Materials don't sit in AH long and it's just easy gold. It may take a few minutes extra to do but why not. I also, have a theory on why materials are selling so good right now. With the release of 1.05 you can combine 10 materials to next level. So I believe people are buying now while they can.
On average in an Act 1 run I can make 80-150k gold. Drops aren't the best but if I want drops I go into Act 3 where I follow the leader. Salvaging has really helped with my profits. It's laughable that I didn't think of this sooner. I can sell materials within 5-10 minutes of posting which is just amazing. It's nice coming back to the AH to retrieve gold rather than put items back into my stash.
Whenever I do Act 3 I believe the route I follow is similar to Khanate's. Except I don't believe we go backwards and do fields. Last night I did a Act 3 run and got an IK chest piece. Felt pretty good about myself and made the million gold upgrade seem cheap at that point.
^ this lately. I just wish it was 1.0.5 already and we had more people playing
It's probably a lot less efficient, and if you get a group of 3 DH's with 20k dps and 0 survivability it can be annoying. But overall it's a ton of fun and allows you to use some underused skills very effectively (Threathening shout with extra chance for drops, Cyclone Strike, dmg reduction Sentry).
I've dropped Crypts because it didn't seem challenging enough/worth the amount of time it took to get to the packs there. Easy finds for stacks though.
I have a feeling Tower will become almost mandatory with the whole resplend chest giving one stack in the near future. (If I read that correctly that is.)
I use the following Act 3 routes, alternating whenever I get bored:
Route 1: Alkaizer route
- Start at Core of the Arreat checkpoint before Azmodan
- Kill while heading to Core waypoint and teleport to Tower of the Damned 1
- Kill while making one full circle back to waypoint and teleport to Arreat Crater 2
- Kill while heading to the end of Crater 2 and TP back to town
- Teleport via waypoint to Keep 1 and head to Keep 2
- Kill until satisfied in Keep 2 and TP back to town
- Teleport via waypoint to Bridge of Korsikk
- Kill while making one circle back around Fields of Slaugher to waypoint and teleport back to town
- Repeat run
Route 2: Personal route
- Start at Tower of the Damned 1 checkpoint at stairs
- Kill while making one circle back to stairs and head to Arreat Crater 1
- Kill while heading to Crater 1 waypoint and teleport to Rakkis Crossing
- Kill while heading toward Fields of Slaughter
- Kill while making a semi-circle down to Bridge of Korsikk waypoint and teleport to Keep 3
- Kill while heading toward Keep 2
- Kill until satisfied in Keep 2 and TP back to town
- Repeat run
Route 3: Bloodthirsty route
- Kill everything or blow everything up that is visible and available for killing/blowing up in Act 3
Route 4: Community service route
- Carry sad pubbies to victory in "Siegebreaker" or "Heart of Sin" quest
Personally, I'm not going to be pursuing farm routes, I'm going to be working on achievements like A Unique Collection, now that MP will allow me to hunt in Acts 1 and 2 without compromising on loot.

Join public game, slaughter demons.

Crypts, Forest, Courtyard, Butcher push.
Do you include Northern Highlands for the tower?

What quest do you start on? Seems like you do a full Act 1 run rather than hit the main spots. I'm saying that because of the mention of SK.
No more - atleast for now.
Got multiple really good items. Few of those worth 40mil+/piece
...but I cant sell them.
