Are you really so delusional to think that people would keep buying and PLAYING a game series based off marketing alone?
Personal experience would not factor in at all? I mean sure, marketing hype could account for the first games sales, and maybe the second, but after that, players would have a pretty good idea what they would be getting.
You talk about living in a bubble, when clearly, coherent thought is an enigma to you......
I love it how you direct that at me and not the obvious troll that I'm responding to....
Nah, you're trolling with biased uninformed opinions. It was directed at you for a reason, and it applies to everyone that aren't doing what Daemaro is quoted on.
Any obvious Diablo 3 flaw that is pointed out on these forums is always called 'trolling and hating'. But pro Diablo 3 trolls are overlooked. Talk about bias. You guys can't take simple criticism. Blizzard preys on that, that's why they're so quick to delete criticism
threads on the official forums and they're working overtime. If you just say, 'oh the game has issues, but I'm sure it will be fixed' is just a weak attempt at calming yourself. You gotta present specific gripes about it and in numbers to make blizzard listen. Otherwise they don't care.
Remember the battle.net 2.0, when it was released without chat channels, people starting 'whining' and 'trolling' about it's lame features and how can there possibly not be chat channels? And after like 3 months, they finally implemented them even though before Blizzard said that, 'but seriously, who HONESTLY used chat channels? hurhurhur'. They're ignorant right now, we gotta open their eyes so that they fix this horrid disappointment.
What are you even talking about?
Could you please direct me to a SINGLE constructive criticism you have had in this very thread? Just a single one?
Because all I have seen is mindless blind hate and uninformed BS.
Heck I have even pointed out D3's shortcomings, and many others have too. On this very forum. (example, Legendarys, yup, they sucked, we know, and look, they are addressing them directly. Skills, some of them sucked, and surprise! Guess what they are doing?)
You know you dont have a leg to stand on when you have to misdirect the conversation to something completely unrelated.....
I did present a whole variety of specific criticism yesterday. And Daemaro deleted it because it was "uncivil".
What exactly are they doing with the skills? +/- to damage here and there, +/- 0.4 seconds here and there? You call that fixing?
You were the one that misdirected it to COD and other blizzard titles, hypocrite. Typical fanboy troll.
An "example" = "misdirection"
You are clearly to stupid to live, or carry on a coherent conversation.
Keep on trollin on kiddo, very quickly you will realize that exactly no one cares, lol.
lol, Diablo 3 sold on the name alone. And I wouldn't be surprised it having less players than Diablo 2 right now. The fact that it initially sold 10 million means nothing when you look at the user reviews on any gaming website including here. Go check out the 'is diablo 3 boring' thread.
/yawn
So the MetaScore of 90 means everyone that professionally reviewd the game are full of it? Of course, then there are the trolls that coutner with, "They were paid by Blizz to post a good review." Get a life. It's a video game.
HAHA, 'professionally'. Dude, the game itself in the beginning is great. It is fun for the first 2 difficulties. Journalistic critics are shallow at this point and are irrelevant. I mean they even give COD good reviews. They didn't take into account the end-game of Diablo 3, the replayability aspect, etc. The based it on the pretty graphics, and gameplay with shit exploding and shaking oh how kewwwl. Users show the REAL feelings about the game. And as you can see, the majority is disappointed.
Also, could you point me to over 5 MILLION dissapointed players?
Even 4 million?
3?
1?
500,000?
No? Could you even direct me to 1% of the user base being "dissapointed"?
Imagine that.
You can't possibly survey every single player. But taking into account those players that use these review websites, fan-sites like this one, the official forums etc, the majority IS disappointed. It is a good representation of the entire player base. And I highly doubt even 500,000 people are playing right now.
Here I am back at the waiting.
I'll make 3 BOLD predictions here, all on Blizzard games that have received very similar kinds of hate;
Prediction #1 MoP, the much whined about, often hated on expansion to WoW, will sell more units on day 1 then any other MMO on the planet.
Prediction #2 HoTS, the second installment in SC2 will outsell any other RTS game, heck, any other PC game on day 1.
Prediction #3 The first D3 expansion will hit or break the sales records D3 has set in the first week.
Watch, wait and learn.
What real competition is there for WoW? Doesn't wow have like 10 million subscribers? Blizzard built a great name for their titles in early 2000s up until 2008. After that it took a U-turn. Now you see them make desperate attempts at regaining players like the 'buy x months/years of WoW subs and get a free 'non-wow blizzard product''.
HoTs I don't care for and I doubt it will sell more. Even Battlefield 2 sold more than Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3.
"Prediction #3 The first D3 expansion will hit or break the sales records D3 has set in the first week."
HAHAHA, nice one.
Everyone HATES CoD right? I mean, its a freaking Meme on the net to hate on that series right? So, everyone MUST dislike it, and hate it for a variety of reasons right? Because the internet says so?
Then please, PLEASE explain to me why CoD games sales actually go UP everytime a new one is released? Not just once or twice, but EVERY SINGLE TIME?
Reality man, get a dose of it.
It's called marketing. There are way more ADHD kiddies out there than actual FPS lovers. You go for the common majority to generate more sales. Marketing 101. Yes, that REALITY. Stop living in a bubble world.
Are you really so delusional to think that people would keep buying and PLAYING a game series based off marketing alone?

Delusional? That's the whole point the majority BUYS the games. That's the reality. Media has a very good effect on people nowdays. "I mean sure, marketing hype could account for the first games sales, and maybe the second, but after that, players would have a pretty good idea what they would be getting." - THERE IT IS.
Listen, COD is not a bad game per se. It's a mindless-action game. Shit exploding everywhere, BOOM headshot! etc, so in a sense it cures boredom, kinda. That's why I call it for people that have ADHD, ANYONE can play it. But it has no depth, no intelligence curve to it like say, BattleField series or Arma 2 etc.
@Infidelman- Not everyone with a differing opinion or dislike for this game is a troll. I love the game, others hate it - so what. When you are uncivil, promote biased misinformation as fact, the reactions you stir from it is trolling.

Ok, so what biased misinformation did I promote? Am I wrong that the D3 player base is in a significant decline? Am I wrong that Diablo 3 was sold mostly on the name alone? Seriously.

Every game has a decline from initial launch and has peaks and valleys. Go ahead and misconstrue generalities so it fits your opinion.
D3 was sold on the hype of the next generation hack and slash in the series. The name didn't sell it, the sneak peeks for a few years did.
I don't think D3 is dead. I still love it and will continue to play it for a long time

I you realize games can't die. They're not alive to begin with. (+1 cookie for anyone that sees the secret message there.)
Anyways, you guys had your fun and warnings. There is no bias towards "Pro D3 Trolls" etc. You can ask quite a few of the people defending D3, I've gave them infractions too at some point. This is just a messy situation where no one benefits and I hope we can all learn from this a little and walk away.

Yeah, I pretty much gave up hope on getting anything of sense from him at this point.
I feel the same about you.

They will actually work on it before they release an XP. The D series is their #5 franchise for the next 12 months. In every way.
Yeah, 1.0.4 and 1.1 are not coming in the next 12 months. Totally #5 on their list bro, pandas for life.

So the one lesson we have to learn from this is: do not feed the troll next time. It can become
a dangerousan annoying creature.Anyways, you guys had your fun and warnings.
