If I understand it correctly, which it seems most didnt, its lame, dull, and excruciatingly boring imo.
And before you think I am flaming, I liked the Charlie Brown entry, and I did not even participate in this last contest.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
One is never hurt by being given additional choices, only by taking them away. A QUADRILLION MAGIC FIND is worthless if you can't kill shit!
Get over it, its not what you people think is the winner, this isn't a forum feedback contest where members vote the winner. Its a subjective contest, where it's up to the judges. If the judge likes it, it will win, bottom line. No amount of qq will change ones perspective of whats good, and not good. Ever been to a bbq contest? They could all be the best bbq you've ever tasted, but only 1 of them can win.
it is sufficient they want to be as we are suggesting. Here is to opine, is what we are doing.
What is not right to accuse without proof. Expressing disappointment, doubt, alienation, etc., fine. Because if this happens is because it is not going good communication between the participants and judges.
If it was just opinion, it wouldn't be controversy, it would just be a general discussion of the results. This thread is basically stating, that there is some sort of controversy. When there isn't. Its up to the judges, period... Nobody's opinion, can change that fact. *shrug. Not everyone can be a winner, and there will always be someone upset that they didn't win, and there will always be someone who thinks that other entrants should have won, but its not their job to begin with. And that's the point I'm making. So far, I've found that all the winners were great entries, but that's my opinion.
Every week I dread this because there is no way we can please everyone. One thing I CAN assure you of though is we do not hand out keys to friends. We have staff that still need keys. We were not given these keys with any instructions. If we wanted to keep all of them and pretend we got none we could have. I know not everyone is going to agree with winners, and that's just what happens when you have near 3000 entries from all across the world.
I just don't want anyone thinking we're doing anything shady. We'd never betray out fans like that. We even exclude staff from these contests because it wouldn't seem fair if they won, and everyone would be angry.
Anyways I think that's all I wanted to say.
Sorry you didn't win, better luck in the next contest! Binkles is a interesting little guy. In case anyone is wondering he is just a frog with a special name that was datamined, we have no clue where he's from or what it's about, he's not even in the game. So the story is yours to mold.
Not disappointing for me, because I learned to ignore this sad excuse for a contest after losing to crap submissions the first 2 weeks. I don't believe for a second that a group of intelligent people decided on these winners after careful consideration. All except the first have been crap (though I still think were MANY better ones than the charlie brown one for the first week).
Check out my gallery if you want to see the submissions that one of the forum mods told me, "came like, ridiculously close to winning", but apparently, I put too much artistic effort in. I found this to be funny, seeing as how I haven't taken an art class since 5th grade and I am in no way an artist and my submissions were made almost entirely in MS Paint.
I spent around 100 hours in the first two weeks brainstorming ideas and editing the photos, only to be beaten by a charlie brown clip art that probably took about 14 seconds to think of and implement, whose result was mildly clever at best, and a "demotivational" poster mock-up that, frankly, sucked balls. "I'm SICK of waiting for beta".....lmao, I still laugh when I think about it.
Do yourselves a favor and steer clear of these "contests", at least, don't put any effort in if you must participate.

I believe. But it's true that the first winner didn't follow the proposal. The second implied that several other captions were ignored. What I have suggested is improvements in the competition. Always will be unsatisfied, but not for lack of clarity.
You know more than anyone, because we've explained to you when you PM'd us that these are meant to be contests accessible to EVERYONE, its not an art contest. If we had wanted to do an art contest we would have. Art aside, yours was good, it just wasn't as good as some of the others in our opinions.
Fact of the matter is, you guys are doing something wrong. I haven't seen one person say, "nice work man, you earned it" to these winners. The charlie brown one got some compliments, but I have a feeling that if you had a public vote on the best pic, NONE of the winners would make it in the top 10.
Frankly, I'm entirely over the disappointment of losing. I got my own beta key a few days ago and I have no reason to visit these forums. I'm writing this because I think you should know that the judges of these contests are NOT fit to do so, not by a long shot. There isn't a trace of talent or initiative in any of the winners. Why are you rewarding mediocrity?
I was fully prepared to lose to that guy who sent in the "Blinding Flash" submission from week 2. I thought I had a good chance of beating him, but I knew that it was going to come down to the 2 of us. I looked through every single submission multiple times and didn't see more than 5 or 6 good ones, the blinding flash being my biggest competition. The winner's submission was so underwhelming, I don't even remember seeing it. It was so unimaginably dull, simplistic, and unfunny, it made me realize that you guys don't take this contest seriously. No one in their right mind would pick that failure over the blinding flash submission, let alone some of the ones I sent in as well as a select few others.
You have to realize that the reason people think this contest isn't really a contest, is because of the massive failure of the judges in selecting winners. People have a hard time believing the legitimacy of this thing when the winners appear to have been selected randomly. It's not everyone else, it's you. I've shared this contest, it's winners, my submissions, as well as some of the other top submissions with hundreds of people over Facebook. ALL of them are nothing short of disgusted with the results. It is an abomination, and an insult to real competitions everywhere. At least half of them asked me, "are you sure the winner wasn't selected at random?". No one believes that a group of people sat down and picked those winners over some of the amazing entries that came in, it just isn't logical, and it doesn't seem possible.
Sorry, but this is one of the biggest failures I've ever witnessed.
would be if newly created accounts are restricted from voting.
Sooo about 90% of the people having a cry in this thread? These silly threads after the announcement of each weeks winner is getting beyond pathetic. I hope you guys realise how silly your going to look once the full game has come out.
Oh and if you really need to vent, I suggest writing an 80 page word document for this weeks contest

I have to agree on the point of seeming random. Many have asked me the same thing and felt that several competitors. Like I said before, if not did it, he missed some communication between the two sides.
I remember the first winner was the best works that won, one was made based on one of mine, who did I see more his works.
Have ignored the indignation of the participants who dedicated in creating captions with the winner without caption.
I'm not going to waste anymore time listening to your complaints, it always boils down to "I should have won because~"
Of course you expected the Blinding Flash guy to win, he was going to give you his key.
All I can say to you at this point is why aren't you playing beta?
Anyways to everyone else the contest is now about writing so it's a different ball game. Don't go in expecting a essay to win just because you invested a large amount of time, make it a unique, interesting, story and whether its one paragraph or two pages (God please don't make me read that much.) it will have an equal chance.
So hopefully, people will see this and choose to rage here, instead of muddying up the Beta Contest #4 thread, where nothing will get accomplished.
It doesn't really matter who wins. If there are 2000 people creating entries and we give out 1 key, 1999 people are going to rage. Regardless of how epic the winning submission is you can't please everyone, and people who do not win will QQ. Simple as that. I understand everyone wants a key. Everyone needs to understand they will not get a key. It sucks, I agree, but it's the truth. You're going to have to deal with it.
Unfortunately for the 1999 people who do not win, I choose the winning submission, not the community. Sorry guys, perhaps we have differing opinions. Don't give the Moderators any problems, feel free to give me a problem. Although, I'm not going to tolerate someone telling me my opinion is wrong, so the chances of me actually replying to QQ PM's asking why "this person won instead of me" is slim to none.
Thanks for your understanding and you're welcome for the opportunity to potentially participate in the Beta. Thread closed.
EDIT: And for those of you that are accusing us of giving keys out to friends, that isn't the case. I wanted to give the key to OneTwoSC last week for his submission, but we decided it would look shady seeing as how he is a personal friend of mine and worked with me on the D3 App. So you should be thanking us for excluding friends and family, because it's pretty damn hard having to tell my younger brother that I can't get him into the Beta because I'm saving the keys for random fans I will probably never speak to again afterward, simply because they're only here to win a beta key.
And before you think I am flaming, I liked the Charlie Brown entry, and I did not even participate in this last contest.
