... big news revelations we’ll soon be able to share with you guys. (And I am not at all sure that the changes will be popular. We’re talking major reworking of numerous game systems.)
We all know the D3 development team has made some pretty drastic changes to some of the mechanics from D2 in order to improve gameplay (health system comes to my mind, followed by the resource system - the addition of insanely longer cooldowns indicates it is considerably flawed).
So, what are your guesses on these big changes? I'm curious to see what do you guys bring to the table. Go crazy if needed, lets have some fun while waiting some leaks
Uh? How am I supposed to formulate an opinion on "big changes" if I don't know what those changes are?
I support the cooldowns, for the most part. I support most of the things the dev team has done so far. Whiny Diablo fans annoy me and I trust Blizzard to make a good game, as they always have. The ONLY thing I've never been impressed with is the artistic direction when it first was announced at WWI 2008. However, it appears they've changed that or at least shown darker portions of the game. No complaints.
I don't want Diablo II 2.0. I want this game to be significantly different than Diablo II and have substantial improvements and upgrades, but, still retain the Diablo-esque feel. That's not hard to accomplish and they've managed to do that quite nicely.

Less loot drops, with vast majority of loot drops weighted towards being something useful to your character class. (I can see this being a possibility to appeal to a broader audience, but also obviously pissing off a lot of the "core gamers.")
Worst implausible news:
D3 goes Free-To-Play with optional micro-transactions on crafting materials, runestones, gems, character slots and shared stash space. ($_$)
I'd take anything he posts with a grain of salt. They weren't invited to the press event so it's all he said she said.
Yeah. Literally every post that they put up on there has some level of cynicism and sour grapes. I can barely go there anymore. It's just so toxic feeling. Even in their podcasts it's usually just Flux being snotty about something about D3.
Why even bother running the site still if he has such disdain for Blizzard? It's such an out there in the open negativity that it just sours every news post they present. Sucks cause I was going there back before Diablo 2 cam out. Oh well I guess times change.
I thought the loot drops would be focused toward character anyways? or is that not true.
I don't think I've seen any official comments suggesting it... Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if there is a small bias put in place (nor would I complain about that), but I was suggesting something drastic, like 90% of loot drops are focused towards your character, which I'm not sure I'd be happy with.
The 2nd Quarter conference call goes like this: Activision Inc is now bankrupt, all projects and servers will begin their immediate liquidation starting tomorrow morning. Good luck fuckers.

Sometimes you don't always know where you stand... until you know that you won't run away.
II don't know about anyone else, but if the rumor that traits are gone and the 7 skill tiered system is gone is true THAT will be about the worst news possible to me. Yes, the game is not even out yet, but if we miss out on those two aspects of the gale (even if replaced by somthing beter) I won't be able to help but feel like we missed out on Diablo 3 and instead are getting Diablo 3.1.
The concept of 7 tiers, 7 skill slots, and unlocking new slots as you level, and the trait system of not having to pick passives over active skills have kept me up late at night imagining he possibilities. So if this rumor is true.. the tier system/traits had better have been replaced by something just insanely awesome. Time will tell i guess.
Get real, folks, the diablo you all knew is dead, a few years ago i said right here in this forum that D3 had a pretty good chance of being blizzard first bust (i was flamed to death ofc), and what you know, its not even beta and its already looking that way.
We haven't made any announcements yet regarding trade systems, but it's something we'll be prepared to reveal soon™. I think it's something people are going to be pretty psyched about, if not passionately indifferent.
Ok, I think this is what I read. I knew I wasn't completely insane.
We have decided that making Diablo 3 was a bad idea. As such, all individuals working on D3 have been moved to other projects, except Bashiok who has been sent to work in a coal mine in upper siberia so he will keep... his mouth... shut. <_<
All those who would like to further discuss the demise of the Diablo franchise are welcome to attend Blizzcon 2011 where they will be systematically round up and shot.
"We're retooling D3 to fit our new rating of T instead of M to appeal to our younger demographic of boys ages 8-13. Also we will not add a mute function to our voice-chat feature because we want you all to be able to hear them when they are celebrating about how they owned you. Sorry for any inconveniences and best regards -The D3 team"
Luckily I don't think they're going to change drops significantly and channel them toward your character type given how much they have emphasized a trading economy, stash improvements, and end-game focusing on item-chasing instead of leveling.
If they'd tailor drops toward your character, that would undercut all of these things and remove the randomness that Blizzard has made its calling card. I was just watching the BlizzCon2010 Q/A and they really emphasized that it's a core part of their beliefs that a system that doesn't drop what you want is just as much a part of a well-designed random system as one that gives you the goods.
Making this change would be a deal-breaker in my mind.

My thirst for ANY sort of Diablo III news needs to be quenched.

Well im pretty sure a meteor dropping on the blizzard HQ during the press conference would be band, I agree with you. Feed the masses Force and Sixen!
PLEASE!!!
EDIT: P.S. this was posted by force on his youtube channel 8 hours ago... "big big news on Monday for D3 fans"
I'm almost certain I've read that quote (by Bashiok?) before on Battle.net. Not by Flux.
Edit: I can't find it now so I might be wrong. I'm sure I read something similar in a blue quote.
I don't see why bashiok would be undercutting D3?
