No one knows for certain how or if Diablo will make an appearance, though most expect him to be a boss at one point or another. If he does indeed play a role in Diablo 3, how do you hope it all goes down?
How will he enter the scene?
How will he look?
How will he fight?
Will he only appear once?
What will happen to him after he's defeated?
All questions relying on our imagination at this point.
I hope we see the Lord of Terror a few times throughout the game, in different battles.
The first fight I'd like to find him gathering strength after his last defeat, maybe in a deformed shape, with a small glow from his cracked skin. You attack him, the fight is decent with a lot of hellish creatures being summoned to protect him as he tries to flee. Both you and him escape narrowly.
Next he has obviously grown much stronger, in appearance and by how he enters though a fiery fissure in the ground with an army of Demons with him. You kill the demons and have an all together different battle with Diablo, with his classic attacks and than some. This time Tyrael has to come down to help you fend him off, Diablo captures Tyrael and flies again, it was all a trap.
The last battle takes place in hell, Diablo is fully recovered and looks pissed. He signals the army behind him to stay, this is between him and you. He now seems to have acquired new powers, obviously taken from Tyrael. It takes a few tries to defeat him, since his fighting style has changed so much. After the last slice if HP drains, he explodes into molten rock as a dark mist flies away behind the army.

I would hate to see another Diablo... in Diablo games....
It's been done for the past 2 sequel, and I doubt Blizzard will make Diablo the ending of D3.
Sure, he'll be back and we'll slaughter him like before, but I'd imagine something more powerful awaiting us.

Id rather see him in the d3 sequel rather than the first version of the game.
But if I do have to fight him it needs be very epic and it would have to be in hell, and hell better be very hellish. On that note, i wonder what a level/part of a level based on heaven would look like?
I want him to like DESTROY!@!!!!! THE LIVING FUCK OUT OF US IN ONE SHOT!!

I want circumstances to tragically force Leah to incur the spirit of Diablo, so that the hero(es) is/are forced to fight her against Cain's deepest wishes. After defeated, we will wonder if Leah really died or not. Cain will go in to mourning while the time between expansions transpires and will cave in to the darker magic in the hopes of reaching Leah. In doing so, he accidentally breaks Lilith free from the Void. The expansions thereafter focus on the minor evils, now lead by Lilith on the mortal plane after they've conquered Hell.

I definitely think that the direction that Blizzard is taking with the actual fighting in the game leads me to believe that Diablo could, possibly, not be the last boss in D3. He probably will end up being the last boss though, so I dunno. I mean, look at how epic the battle with the Siegebreaker was; he was massive, he dealt out massive amounts of damage, and he is almost comparable to Duriel was in D2. But, with Blizzard's new potential, they could easily switch things up and have Diablo come earlier than the climax of the game.
I'd actually like to fight Inarius or Azmodan/Belial as the last boss. They could easily play those characters up to epic proportions and avoid the redundancy of having Diablo always be the last boss.

Personally ... I feel that by the end of d3 you should of killed Diablo but have awoken a even stronger demon. Would make sense for a good expansion. However who can be even more badass than the lord of terror? not sure :]

You write so well Hammy. I really think you should consider being a writer for profession.

I could live with that; only if when you defeat him your character makes a little house out of the bricks and calls it home.
