Does that really matter? Some people just stop by to read the threads and not actively participate.
On topic, they aren't showing you how to obtain the cheats, otherwise they'd lock/delete it. The thing that pisses me off is that "hackers" come here to brag, but we get reprimanded for not treating the guy like he's the Pope.
No offense but you can't stop botting with banning any talk on forums. The scrub hackers (read the people that used maphack in diablo 2 and those sorta hacks) will get banned pretty fast considering how much better blizzard is at dealing with it now compared to back then. And hacking will not st op just because people who most likely won't hack talk about it
I realize it won't stop it, but in my mind discussing it serves no other purpose than spreading the knowlege of it.
I mean there is another post I just read in these forums that was more or less just a progress report on the state of bots and cheaters.

And the first bout of active (in a while) participation is how he's disappointed in the site? This is either someone who lurks hard time or someone who made another account to bring up negative opinions. Either way the input is moot. At least if I have an unpopular opinion I post it under this account to be trolled/flamed/laughed at.
I am very concerned about hacks/bots in D3, which is precisely why I think it needs to be raised and discussed, not brushed under the carpet. Especially with item values now representing Real World monetary value, the sensitivity to hacks is only going to increase.
And I don't think Blizzard is as well prepared as the community hopes.
I feel like blizzard can be made aware of cheaters in a less public way to keep the spread of knowlege of said hacks bots and cheats to a minimum.
I'm sorry, I haven't throroughly checked the forums in a couple days, but what exactly are we talking about here? Did a quick glance on pages 1 and 2 and haven't seen anything "hacking"/"botting" related. Did anything happen while I was away?
"These threads" make it sound like there are dozens of threads with people talking about maphacking or duping, and I haven't seen any. Can I get some pointers/links to what you're referring?

Are there mods reprimending you for not liking a thread? I don't get it. Or is it the other users? If it is, and they're harassing you, their posts can also be reported.
Also, for the record, if you guys think a given thread is violating forum rules, you can report it (with the reasoning) and we'll take a look at it.
Right now, as far as I'm aware, we don't close/delete threads just because they "mention" a given hack or show screenshots of that, but I could be wrong - and if I'm right that rule could certainly change if enough people request it on the website suggestion forums.
I think open discussion is better than non-discussion. It essentially speeds up the arms race, and I think that favors Blizzard. I may be wrong, but I think once a bot/hack/etc is known, it's easier to make that stop working than it is to make a new thing work given new countermeasures.

The only thing you have done in this thread is troll/flame me(which is against the rules).
that they are allowing discussion of bots hacks and cheats on these forums.
It serves no purpose but to proliferate the number of cheaters.
All these threads should be locked deleted and the posters should be banned.
making this issues well known, especially during the beta, is how they get fixed. Trying to silence them is how you get a select few people ruining the entire game with cheats and hacks.
It would be a complete disservice to everyone, including yourself, to silence those discussions.
The thread raises concern for how much progress has been made in ways of cheating the game. I think it's something we should all worry about to an extent. If anyone in the thread provides links to the hack/bot or the name of the hack/bot report it. If it's just discussion then it's fine.
Some makes a post that says. Hey guys look this guy just made a bot that kills meph and gives videos or pics.
That post only helps make people that are inclined to cheat aware of said cheats.
Now if you are wanting to help Blizzard stop cheaters there are private channels to do this without announcing to the world that there is working cheats.
Also in reguard to awarness, I'm unsure if blizzard monitors fan sites for info on cheaters or anything else for that matter.

I don't mind them that much. They will make RAHM reasonably not expensive so maybe we can have some ubbers someday But really I want to get almost everything myself and I don't care about everybody else as far I don't play with them. In WoW there are gold sellers. Never once I gave a shit or did it spoiled my game.
Funny, when I read the thread last night it had devolved into a bunch of botters bragging about how much they bot on wow and D2 and that they will be justified to bot in D3 because it is no different then using RMAH.
We stop people from discussing it here and they will just go elsewhere to discuss it. Somewhere darker and more underground. So within reason we allow discussion. So long as there is no descibed way or link to hack or obtain the bot/hack.
Blizzard has already been made aware.

Battle.net Profile / Diablo Progress Profile
So you 2 guys are not concerned about D3 going the way of D2?
Also your attempt to invalidate my opinion merely by pointing out my number of posts and join date is lame.

Again, not an expert.

If they provide a link to a botting program then actions can be taken, but discussing the repercussions of botting isn't all that bad.

But
I still don't see how discussing cheats helps.
Example.
