There were several such items in D2. They were like a "set", that you would use to lvl certain characters/specs, because of their low dps. That was back when there were no respecs and you had to level using the skills you aimed to use in the endgame (in many cases: pvp)

Not just to level. Pretty sure there were endgame melee's who wore guillaume's face for the CB, among other items. You could build a viable zealot where CB was the main damage dealer. Of course I only played PvE seriously; I guess it wasn't a thing in PvP.
And how about this modifier "Chance to shatter and instantly kill frozen enemies."?
This could be very powerful
I think that was implicit in the "Frozen" modifier in D2? Or maybe they just shattered when you killed them.
I know that if an frozen enemy shattered, you didn't get any drops, which was a total bummer.
No and no.
Frozen didn't mean automatic death in D2. And I'm 99.99999% sure that they did drop items regardless of being frozen because back in Vanilla, there was this item called ICEBLINK that used to freeze every enemy on hit and that didn't reduce my loot count to zero
By the way, the game, in which you could shatter frozen enemies, was Dragon Age.

You're right - you still got the drops. What I was thinking of was, if the enemy shattered it left no corpse, which meant you couldn't use the Find Item skill on it.

What is this "Find Item skill" of which you speak?
But you're right, shattered enemies left no corpse, which is why frost sorcs and summon necros did not get along very well.
Ice damage freezing and shattering enemies was one of my favorite things in D2. Nothing better than getting some fast cold weapons and just chunking everything. Such a satisfying sound effect.

Barb skill. Also, Find Potion.
Yes, I know. I was referring to the fact that nobody ever used it.

Not true.
There was a time when farming Travincal was quite popular. First killing everything, then switching to double-Gulls and shouting at every corpse

lol at Find potion.----most pointless skill, -- ever.
I am ok with crushing blow as it was in d2. That was relatively easy to understand and fun to gear for. Didnt uber travi paladins often use 1 point in shield slam and then stack crushing blow ?
Crushing blow like in WoW back in the days was a huge pain in the backside though. Nobody understood the calculation with level differences and when what sort of defensive stat pushed crushing blows out of the table etc.

Oh come on, nobody leveled their pvp chars by playing trough the game, not if you can do 2 hours of baal runs and be at lvl 90+.

Oh really? Can you tell me how you would do that playing solo?
And before you put your foot in your mouth, let me just add this: the overwhelming majority of D2 players never used bnet.
What I meant by my comment, Maka, is that when people can power/rush to almost MAX level in 2 hours, that whole issue people claim they loved about D2 being the "permanence" of skill trees and stat point allocation is null and void, because all you need is a couple hours and a high level friend to help you get right back to where you were before.
As for doing that solo? I had a Barb that was at least level 83 way back in the day, and I never played with more than two friends at a time (and that was pretty rare, I've always been more a solo player). I never got into the trading game, and never once had an "SOJ." Not a single one. So, much like D3, it took a looooooooong time, lots of grinding. And I was fine with that. Still am.
Based on many of your comments, Maka, with all due respect...you're the one who loathes the idea of XP grinding, because you play solely for the loot and hate the idea of "D3 being like God of War." I respect that mindset, don't get be wrong...however, while I did justify and defend D3 not having a stat allocation system previously, it does undoubtedly add depth to the game. I can't deny that. And if grinding for long periods gets a player there, so be it.
Also...before I put MY foot in my mouth? You're afraid of me putting my foot in my mouth, and you're the one saying that an "overwhelming majority" of D2 players never used Bnet? Gonna need some proof on that...
Ya know, seeing as the game stayed so popular for over a decade because an "overwhelming majority" of D2 players weren't trading, right? They weren't playing ladders, were they? Weren't competing in PvP? Weren't power-leveling each other and trying out new builds? These are things that were typically done on Bnet. Yes, people could do some of them small-scale on open-Bnet or over LAN, but that doesn't connect you to the community, doesn't let you get into chat channels, doesn't let you communicate with the rest of the world worth of players.

They were talking about PvP characters.
I'm pretty sure that you couldn't PvP solo offline... yes?

Crush : The damage dealt
by slashhas a405% chance to be crushing damage, dealing damage equal to 5% oftheirthe enemies currenthitpointshealth. It's also on a Judgment rune, and one of the unique rings.
Do you think this implementation makes sense? I feel like most of the time I'm knocking more than 5% of a monster's health off.

I wonder how hard it'll be to stack to respectable levels.

Ironically...this is what I tell people when they have issue with XP grinding in D3, and the perceived lack of "permanence."
Yep - a.k.a. "horking"! Good times, good times.
