Jay Wilson on PvP and Legendaries
We haven't heard much from Jay Wilson in the past few weeks. However it looks like "The Jace Hall Show" was able to get a few minutes of his time. Jay Wilson first pops up around the 2:00 mark, however the pvp talk starts around 11:29. The information learned from this is not all that new, and there was very little of it. However some info is better than none. Here is a quick roundup:
(Also for those interested in PvP, we posted a quick preview of a few datamined arena levels not to long ago).
Due to player feedback they are upgrading legendaries.
They are adding a whole bunch of new loot technology so they can do some "crazy stuff" with legendaries.
They want to legitimize PvP in Diablo III.
Pvp will take place as an arena team deathmatch.
You can form a team of 4 players or use the match making system to be put on a team of 4.
Matches will be about 10 minutes long, team with the most kills wins.
Will be cool arena style with a lot of fast action, quick respawning, and announcer calling out kills.
A quick look at one of the UIs can be seen in the picture below. In the picture we can see a player's PvP title. During beta a full list of player titles were datamined. However the title/rank of "Scout" is not on that list.
Diablo III Inferno Booster Pack Giveaway
Starting this week we will be holding a giveaway once a week to our active forum members. There will be two winners (one EU and one US). Guide to Crafting Chest Armor for the AH
tybrone has been tracking the crafting and sales of hundreds of 6 prop chest pieces he has made. Through his tracking, he has created a spreadsheet that helps identify and organize the sell values of them based upon that stats that rolled for each one. If you are looking for a guide to help figure out the value of your crafting you can check out his original thread for comments and feedback.
1,000,000 Gold Inferno Witch Doctor
CuckooGaming is on a mission to beat Inferno with each class with only a million gold spent on gear. With a price that almost anybody could afford, it helps players find a way to clear Inferno who don't have the funds to buy top gear. You can check out his original thread for comments and feedback.
I'm not expecting 1.1 until October at the earliest. However the loot updates I'm hoping we see within the next month because they are probably the biggest thing this game needs right now to keep people interested until we see whats in 1.1.
I really hope this new "loot technology" is cool new item properties that only legendaries can have. That would definitely make them wanted without having to make them best in DPS.

No way in hell will we see 1.1 this early. My guess would be either early December or soemtime next year. If we're lucky, we get 1.04 before October but I suspect Diablo 3 patching is really on the backburner now.
no way 1.0.4 will be that long.
1.1 on the other hand... I don't even want to give my guesses =/
Haha, right? I was pretty good this time. However... I also got back into Magic the Gathering after 15+ years of not playing it. So yeah, my gaming hobbies got me despite that. :/
Oh great, we're going to have the game balanced around PvP now? Wonderful...
Guarentee that's whats going to happen. How will they control Barbarians Heroic Leaping over fences etc. or their ability to use an entire rage bar to sprint for 30 seconds non-stop? Say goodbye to the most fun abilties, at least in their current forms.
I'm wanting to know, will pvp match you up with people on similar latency? Otherwise it's pretty much going to be a battle of the pings. Will the legendary buff affect existing items?

HAHA. Its been a little less time for me (maybe 4-5 years) but just last month due to my girl I got back into MTG as well..and spent wayyy to much money =/

They have specifically stated in interviews that "get out of here pvp guys this is first and foremost a pve game, we will not ruin the experience for the pve players"
They went on to say they have 2 calls for spells. Think of it as 2 different hungering arrows, 2 different x, y, or z ability.
One has a Normal PvE function and the other can be changed which only affects pvp.
That doesn't mean that every ability will be different but you could look to the first guild wars to get an idea of what they might do.

My favorite part of that video was in the background - Jay's been at Blizzard long enough to receive his sword, it took that long to produce the game to release.
They never do full disclosure, but Jace was CEO of Monolith, which was also where Jay cut his teeth in game making working FOR Jace. Jay was the Lead Designer of Blood II, and for those interested you should read the "critical reception" of Blood II on Wikipedia to get a better idea. I think it sounds eerie and should somewhat scare anyone that's a fan of Diablo.
PvP in a Deathmatch style sounds interesting, but it's not an FPS. I personally would like 1v1s and the ability to duel friends in there or elsewhere in the game. Arena play sounds interesting but unless it comes with superior rewards like titles, auras, ladders, and possible PvP levels it's just not going to tickle my fancy or keep most people's attention. Additionally, they need to homogenize legendaries rather than making everything so vastly random that it would encourage nothing but RMAH to get anywhere in PvP. D2 at least offered you the opportunity to locate BIS that most people could have access to - like uniques with very limited variable stats - and have some slots up for well rolled rares like rings, amulets, gloves, bracers, belts. By doing this they would insure that prices would settle to where the average player could possibly buy something not priced at 100 million to be competitive or spend 1000 hours farming.
