The overall efficiency adds up to 150% in all cases, so it all depends on your taste. Of course the 2 Xbows would have lower modifiers to compensate for being two.
It is the exact same thing. Different items but the same total stats. It comes down to preference, like choosing weapon as a Barb.
I like the idea that its up to the player on witch weapon he/she want to roll with based on how you want to use your skills. If your more of a defensive trap DH then you would want you use a regular bow to get more damage per hit. but a more offensive cc DH would want a xbow to get more hits in witch will equal more damage over time.
If i can get 4 shot in 2 seconds of x skill (using your chart of Dual Xbow - 100% speed, 50% damage) im going to cause more damage over time

Not trying to be an asshole, but you're math is wrong :P. Still, I get the point, and I agree. Personally, I'd go for a longbow when I play the DH (which will be last)... It just seems cooler.

Do you mean the 1h hammer should do 150% damage? and also YOUR grammar is wrong! What you're saying is you are math is wrong, I know I'm an asshole sometimes.

Actually, comparing it to the 1H sword, it should do 200% damage :P. Nice catch btw, your paying attention. (see what I did there?)
Do we even know if regular bows will exist in game? I know they were in D2, but then again, they didn't have duel wield xbows. Since the Demon hunter already has a class specific weapon, and regular xbows will be available to both the DH and other classes, do you think they will add regular bows as well?
Sure there will be regular bows, there's even an ingame screenshot of a demonhunter weilding one. Also we saw some bows dropping in various gameplay vids.
ehmm and in d2 there existed dual-weild-x-bows, eg. buriza-do-canon, did you ever play the game?
/damn, I think i misinterpret dual weild and 2 hand ... I am sorry... :wallbash:
Yea, dual xbows are simply an addition, not a replacement, to the arsenal of ranged weapons. The DH uses a two handed crossbow in her reveal trailer and a bow in a few recent screenshots.
The pistol crossbows are a single item with two teeny little crossbows in it - like how your gloves drop as one item with two gloves in it. And as said before, are her class specific item.
The rest of the crossbows are bigger and supposedly equivalent to bows. It'd be like asking "why would a barbarian use swords when he can use maces."
They have not yet told us if the burrito cannon will be making a reappearance.
Hey. Hey! Guys that are there - are the Witchdoctor masks really their class specific item? .. cause that'd be kind of cool with a k. Kewl whip.
If anything it would be class-specific armor, a 'weapon' would be something like those staves/wands with skulls on em that they used to perform they're rituals or possibly even effigies.

I agree with feminism. I don't think that it's right that for every dollar a man makes, a women gets 70 cents. Why do I only get 30 cents and some chick gets the rest?

Yea I was referencing the two crossbows, but no worries, and i played me plenty of D2, honestly believed the devil had something to do with the creation of that game.
Back on topic, I'm happy to hear that regular longbows will still be in game. I haven't seen the recent screenshots of Dh using them, so that's good news. I always preferred the regular bows in D2 as well, although I am interested in how the duel wield will play.

If it's the single item case, with 2 teeny little crossbows in it, then it sucks.
From the game play video, they gave the barbarian the ability to wield 2 different axes with different magical properties. So why not make it possible for the DH to wield 2 different pistol crossbows as well so you can have 2 different properties. Maybe one has cold damage to freeze monsters and the other one has fire, poison or lightning damage, which is a lot cooler than the single item case. Plus you can socket both for additional bonuses as well.
Its definitely two separate items. They also described a setup where you would have a pistol xbow and a quiver offhand, which would only work if they were separate.

Imagine the epicness of a black dyed longbow in combination with the dark looks of the dh. woohoo will be awesome, definitly going to have a fully black dyed demonhunter bunny from hell and am gooing to spread fear and terror among my arena opponents! Muhahaha! :starwars:
Perhaps one of the demonhunters passive abilities will up the damage with all ranged weapons. Which in turn could potentially make bows better. The xbox pistol, may be largely faster and may make a impact on elemental procs.
Assuming some of the stats work the same way, a witch doctor with a xbow pistol with say... life leech, cold damage that slows, or crushing blow or something would be annoying along with his horrify and locust plague and other stuff. Or perhaps even a wizard could have a passive to improve ice damage, put a sapphire in the xbow pistol and thats a good amount of damage at a fast rate with a slowing effect potentially. Could work in PvP.
I'm sure there are certain niches. Or it could just end up being demon hunter only in the end. It's a lot of speculation at this point.
What do yall think about pistol crossbows being an act 4 or end game item!
I don't really see that being the case. Most items in previous diablo's have been available from the earliest levels all the way to the end. I see them keeping this same situation, as it allows more freedom and play style choice for the player. The main difference will be the uniqueness and rarity as levels progress. And personally, I hope they keep it that way. Its always fun to pick up new weapons and tinker around with them while you level, regardless of it being the ultimate best for the time being. Sometime they allow for different perks such as slows, attack speed, aoe dmg and so on, so keeping all weapons available from a low level would be the most fun imo.
Yea if they're viable early game, I don't see why they wouldn't be able to be used during the endgame. It will probably depend on the build of the DH, if you put points into a dual crossbows trait, those will probably be best for you early or late game.
Seems to me that the most logical thing would be for bows to work as a typical two-handed weapon, 50% speed and 200% damage. Executioner style weapon, heavy single-target damage, with the chance to use bola and multi-shot for AoE damage.
A weapon style that requires a controlled situation, a boss fight and such.
Whereas crossbows would be rapid fire weapon, I.e. 75% speed and 133% damage, preferred in situations such as single-play, mutilation of a large crowd, unforeseeable monster AI.
My two cents at least.

"The woods are lovely, dark and deep.
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep." Robert Frost, 1923
Shortbows: Fair damage variance, high RoF, low damage potency. Your all-rounder, and a sound choice for "on-hit" effects.
Longbows: Sacrifices RoF for significantly increased maximum damage. Due to the slower input in combination with potentially high burst, this is great for effects that scale with damage such as life leech. Can payout well with skills,
Standard Crossbows: Slow-to-average attack speed, consistently high damage. Offers high burst damage and cooldown-oriented skill benefit without sacrificing too much mobility due to attack delays.
Heavy Crossbows: Cumbersome and slow to use, but does not have the low-minimum-damage of longbows and is without a shadow of a doubt the best choice for burst damage. Typically capable of killing junk enemies in one shot. If a skill has a fixed percentage of weapon damage and relies in a cooldown, these are generally the best option (granted the skill does not scale down with slow attack speeds).
Double Crossbows: Slightly slower RoF than shortbows, but it seems that both crossbows are fired for skills so they can offer better bang-for-your-buck. In addition, they are great if you want a variety of effects on your attacks.
Thoughts based on general game mechanics, Diablo II, and what we have seen thus far.
My guess is that bows will be slower but hit harder, and (in concurrence with all of the other ideas that it will be preferential) your choice will be massively influenced by your skill build. Who knows how many of the DH abilities will be based upon a percentage of your weapon damage?
If you can realistically chain a damage skill between each auto-attack, and those skills and/or your passives rely heavily upon your weapon's base damage, wouldn't you want the hard-hitter instead of the smaller guys?
On the other hand, your skill build could be based around rapid-fire, or your gear could have +elemental damage to it that wouldn't be applied to your abilities. You would want your auto-attacks to be as fast as possible to shell out that extra pain.

My PvP build would be different from these 13.
