Over the last few months we have had pictures of a good deal of the armor sets found in the beta files. However with much thanks to Kirisu and Relaxation, we are able to show you these great videos showing off the sets. Keep in mind just like with all Blizzard betas. These armors can easily change in the retail version of the game. Let us know in the comments here which ones you like!
Buying Items and the RMAH
It looks like this topic is back for some action. Bashiok took the time to give some more thoughts on the subject

Which is kind of strange as real world currency is by far more widely valuable and usable than an in-game item. Obviously there's an exchange rate of sorts that will be worked out by players to match the two, but I think it's interesting that conceptually someone who works to obtain currency in their job and buy an item is perceived of as less than someone who was able to obtain it by playing the game. Logically it's backwards as a real world job is not the fun and enjoyment of playing a video game, but that gets turned around within the context of wanting to compare skill and aptitude.
I still think drop chance puts so much randomization into someone's acquisition of items that there's no true test of aptitude to be had, just luck and time. What's to say working to earn money to buy an item is easier than launching the game and getting that same item on your first kill? Also, I love my job, but it's still not as awesome as just playing Diablo III.
I don't even know how someone can attempt to place value on the way someone obtained their items, at what cost, in what Act and difficulty was it found, what their magic find was, are they more skilled than me, are they using a 'cheesy build' etc. There's too many variables that throw off comparison of 'skill' before currency even enters the picture.
I like the way this all makes sense inside my brain.

In regards to PvP, that gear didn't just appear out of nowhere. If my opponent bought his gear that doesn't change the fact that it dropped for someone else somewhere. That gear was going to make someone beefy in PvP regardless of whether it was sold or not so what's the point? Is it really worse that I fight someone in PvP whom bought all their gear versus fighting the player for whom that gear originally dropped before they sell it? If anything, the person that bought their gear is more likely to be at a disadvantage because they haven't invested the time to get really good at their skills. Overall I think it's a moot point.

Monster Melee Attack Range
This is a topic that has been brought up a few times on the forums. If you move out of a monsters range, you can still be hit at times. Bashiok hit the forums with a reply on the design behind this.

We want combat to be based on use of abilities, putting thought into builds, building up offensive and defensive stats, etc. Skill is absolutely a part of all of the systems you'll use, and kiting can be too, but it'd be ridiculous if you could avoid all of the systems that make the game the game because you can time dodges of enemy attacks and negate every other factor.
Also think about just running past enemies to rush through an area and never being hit. Anyone looking to rush would love it! Which is why it's not a good idea from a design perspective. It's not something we'll be changing.

Obviously back then we didn't know that our testing and polishing would reveal that we were unhappy with some of game systems, which were either removed for redundancy (or being sucky), reworked for various improvements, or we needed to add completely new ones. But I dont think anyone was surprised. We test, we iterate and refine, we test some more, etc.
But yes. Along with continued development and iteration on the game as a whole we're constantly and continually tuning and testing.
I recommend enjoying these as in-progress looks into the development process, and yes, even at our silliness in thinking we were anywhere close to finishing the game.

This is not a bug. The + damage affixes are rolled into the weapon's damage range. If you weapon originally had 2-4 damage, and you had +2 max damage, your weapon range would change to 2-6.
Those giant DPS numbers show you your estimated damage after all affixes are rolled into the item.
Our website will be out of date until the game comes out, and even then every item has unique stats. I would advise against comparing in-game items to items on the website right now.

Art Contest Submission Issues
We’re excited that you’re putting pencil to paper for our “Darkness Falls, Heroes Rise” promotion, Zherg!
If you’re having difficulties uploading your entry, make sure you’re using the latest versions of your browser, as well as your Flash and Java plug-ins. You can also try another browser or check your ad block settings, but if your problem persists, you should consider browsing the Website Bug Report forum as some of the other posters there have been able to find some workarounds for common issues.
But if you submitted your drawing successfully to the site and are concerned because you still don’t see it in the gallery, don’t fret. They aren’t automatically uploaded, and since we have to go through each submission individually, it can take a little while for them to show up on the website’s Art Contest Gallery. So keep checking back and pouring through the other exclusive content and submissions throughout the site in the meantime, and hopefully you’ll see your own art piece show up sometime soon. Talked about the launch event plans today. Nothing to announce, but it was super exciting. It's becoming more real! (Source)

The dude reminds me of that guy who played Harry Osborne from those spiderman movies. Not sure why.
Barb...oh my GAWD! Those have to be the most terrifying looking badass armors I have ever seen. Just brutal. Looking at all the spikes and the massiveness of all the armor parts, I really wouldn't want to meet these in a one on one fight. It would hurt just attacking these guys.
Witch Doctor's helmets rule. I actually didn't even pay much attention to the armor since the helmets are so dominant. Shame that the particle effect of the last set (smoke from the back) gets lost in the background a little bit. Have to say though, highly impractical, at least most of it. The headdresses may look terrifying and all but in close combat (which is in the end something you can't avoid) the helmets are so big that they would catch a lot of hits which were directed at the shoulder etc. And you don't want to be taking hits to your helmet all the time, you actually need to see and keep balance. But coolness comes before functionality in a caster class I guess. Which is just underlined by the fact that most of the WD armors grow more and more decorative while still, until the last couple of sets, the back, arms, legs and neck are left largely unprotected. But definitely very in-style and colorful which does give it a nice jungle/tribal feel.
Wizard is kinda meh. Though some later sets do look quite cool, mostly the sets are quite indistinct from one another, usually having the majority of features in common (lot of dangling clothes, 'shardy' or otherwise triangular features and segments) with only the color of the clothes and the pattern being slightly changed. Also a lot of the shoulder pad designs remind me of the D2 Sorceress even though they are supposed to be different classes and cultures. BTW the female wizard needs to do something about her body posture, looking at her makes me feel like she either has broken back or wants you to cut her stomach wide open. Don't have a problem with the male guy, though he doesn't look really very interested in being where he is XD
Male Demon Hunter needs to do some squats. How can you be quick and agile when your legs look like you didn't use them for a year? His body posture also seems kinda unhealthy. And let me get a confirmation on this. High heels? Am I seeing that right? I know we knew about this a long time but I'm just taking this opportunity to express my disbelief. I mean really? High heels are not suitable for walking on an even pavement, how the hell are you going to chase monsters with this in the countryside? Other than that the hoods are somewhat repetitive (there's like 5 hoods in various armor tiers and all look the same) so perhaps they should have taken a few pointers from Sacred hoods for the battlemage. Some of them looked cool. Helmets on the other hand look pretty damn great. Sometimes they went really over the top with them but at least the rest of the armor looks decent and not completely crazy. Angelic set is really beautiful.
And then there's Monk. First off those special 'helmets' of theirs (stars, circlets etc) need to be a more noticable than that because just looking at the video with a close-up of the characters I missed them completely on my first watching. In the game you'll be seeing it isometrically so you won't notice their presence at all. Not everything needs to be massive and over the top but if you have something on at least make it seen. Other than that...most of the monk armors really feel like they are mid-tier. Perhaps it's the colors used in the video but most of the browny/greeny stuff looks like it's a mid-tier armor even though it's supposed to be really high up there. The awesomeness factor kicks in really late with the Monk, much later than with e.g. the Barb. On one hand it's a good thing because then at least it's more realistic...monk needs to be mobile and agile, not heavy and clumsy. On the other hand, if you're a monk fan, you'll probably not be as visually impressive playing your character as you'd be with some of the other classes. But perhaps Barbarian just set the standart a little too high.
I'm a little disappointed in the demon hunter rag tag capes and scarfs. What the hell is that all about. Also the male wizard looks rediculous. Not only does he have the posture and figure of a female demon hunter, he has the face of a boy.
I feel bad for anyone you date... Pleasing you must be an impossible task haha.
I thought the barb armor looked friggin awesome.
Part of it is his sulking posture. It reeks of self-pity.
Usually, the look of a character is what deters me from playing it... with these sets, I'm excited to play all of the characters even more-so than I was before! So pumped!
Actually, from the static angles we've seen previously one of the barbarian sets looked like it came from the Alien movie. Viewed from all sides, the toon's head is visible underneath. It totally changes how it looks. Some of the monk stuff looked terrible from that front angle, but viewed all the way around, it looks a ton better.
Yeah, too bad we aren't 100% certain where it falls. If that is like a mid to end hell set, you won't be wearing it very long. I kinda wish we had the ability to make ourselves look like tier 10 instead of tier 16, for example. Would be nice. Some of the early WD sets are the best. That tentacle one is pretty bad ass.
I don't consider the thumbnails to be much of a spoiler. Heck, I think at least one of the armor sets was already viewed from the recent GDC event. Just don't click on the thumbnails and you'll be fine.
Pretty useless for Diablofans.com. Unless Blizzard finally lets us mod Diablo.
They're simply what was datamined from the beta.
yes there would only be 16 different helmets for barbarians since their class item is belts, and the 1st tier (cloth) doesn't have helms. The items are arranged in order according to datamined information(001 002 003 101 102 103 201 202 203 etc)
when watching the videos you can tell some of these armors are not finished, like mismatched colors, armors don't dye the same way between male and female or certain items crashing the beta client when equipped (final tier helm on male&female monk)
Thanks guys.
