I love it when people try to put real life physics into a fantasy game. You're an idiot, so the fuck what, who said meteors had to perform in a certain way?
And I LOVE it when people act like just cause it's a fantasy game that it doesn't mean basic physics should apply or that it should be grounded in reality in some way. Not that I'm even defending whatever people are saying about a meteor but you don't have to be all smug and say that just cause it's a fantasy game that gravity shouldn't apply.
Also, why so much hate? Hate leads to the dark side, and the whole point of the diablo game is to DEFEAT the dark side. You lot make me sad face
OK... so picture the fast forward to 2017 when WoD ( World of Diablo )is announced or about to be opened up ( lol yeah we wish ... anyway ) I believe there will definitely be a " Dark Side " and can you guess their whole point?? hehe
ok dream sequence over and kind of agree with your comment about the hate... I think ppl are just getting frustrated it has been so close for so long and the ..ready when it's ready is starting to make good ppl go bad lol
just some folkes venting on forums about lack of news lack of this lack of that release date blah blah ... dudes posting like prophets " 17.1.2012... I TOLD YOU ALL !!! " lol etc etc..
Just chill because I don't know for the rest of you but I for one will still buy and play the game.. even if it has been driving mad since I finished D2 and then heard the global announcement in 2008 I was like .. BLIZZARRRD F.... YEAH!!!.. COMING TO SAVE THE M.... world yeah!!! lol
You know, trolling and bad feelings aside, I for one am no longer looking forward *as much* after a 5 hour beta experience.
Blizzard are really crap at either making games or hiring people. Because more than one person who has played beta with me has remarked that they cannot believe it took four years to make.
I defended by saying its just a beta... We'll see.
And no release date? I'm starting to view blizzard as that bully/jock at school.
You make it. Playing the beta for me made me much more excited for release. Being that the beta is only a fraction of act 1, I can't wait to see my character progress through the story and through the levels. Game design is nothing simple, even with a team. The development of Diablo3 started more than 4 years ago with Blizzard North, but drama happened, the company didn't like the direction, etc. They started from scratch and redesigned the game. This probably happens more than once in Blizzard's development cycle, some more dramatic than others. We probably only see a fraction of features that were originally planned and developed for the game. A lot of the others were probably tried out and dished out when they didn't like it. That takes time.
That guy was like a grandfather to me... "Stay a while, and listen..."
I practically grew up with Diablo, can't wait for D3. Been waiting over a decade for this game xD
It's very odd that the meteor would come in from an angle like that and then dig directly downwards into the ground. I guess it could happen, but I'm not sure that I believe it wasn't intentionally weird.
Here comes the speculation:
If it was Tyrael coming from the sky (which it very well come have been), why would he hit the cathedral?
What if Tyrael planned hitting into the cathedral so that when he made a giant hole in the ground, it would be hidden? I don't know about that, but there's a small chance that is the case.
Going further, what if Tyrael was looking for something?
Okay, okay; I'll up the speculation level: What if Tyrael was looking for the black soulstone and it was hidden below the cathedral? Now that could make some great sense.
If the cathedral was hiding something of importance, or, straight-up, the black soulstone, I don't believe Tyrael would descend from the heavens all slowly and gently, walk into the cathedral, and stroll his way down deeper into it. I would imagine that Tyrael would want to haul *** down to Sanctuary and secure the black soulstone (or whatever is important) that is hidden beneath before anyone else catches on, especially if the item is that important.
And this would also explain the odd trajectory of Tyrael (most likely him). Tyrael probably didn't have time to travel to directly above the cathedral and then downwards into the ground to where he needed to go. I bet that his descension was spontaneous and rushed, so when he shot down to Sanctuary, he shot down at an angle and then directly down into the ground when he hit, thus explaining the odd change in trajectory.
All of this speculation that I've come up with seems to make perfect sense in my head, but once again, it's all purely speculation. I've read all the lore located on the Wiki site (which is fantastic, by the way) and I'm merely filling in the blanks. I wouldn't be too surprised if something along the lines of my speculation is true, but then again I wouldn't be surprised if I was full of **** and way off. Either way, I like my speculation so far.

What do you guys think? Am I reaching too far?
Well no its not because its all speculation, but Tyreal was cast out of heaven for blowing up the world stone I believe so his decision had to be rushed in where he chose to escape heaven to i.e. the cathedral where Diablo first made his entrance into the world. I also believe he is looking for something maybe a clue or something but he meant to crash into the cathedral or at least close to it.
I'd like to ask you a couple of questions fearbreg
1) How do you know that each class will feature a 10 min cinematic?
2) Do we know anything about the total length of the full cgi cinematics in d3,or at least the number of them?(molster did mention that we get many full cgi movies aside from the ones in the beginning of each of the acts)
there is a total of 30-40 mins of CGI movie in the game. According to the old report we got about copyrighted info.
I love it when people try to put real life physics into a fantasy game. You're an idiot, so the fuck what, who said meteors had to perform in a certain way?

I really can't understand most of the people criticizing the intro cinematics!! First of all, IF you know a little bit about D3, you understand that it really fits with the beginning of the game... Cain is missing under tristram church and leah is in town looking for help to rescue him...
So far so good...
then, we have a 10 min cinematic for each class and each gender, that will explain the history of that class and why have you traveled to tristram...
and finally you will have the rest of the game cinematics, that will look like the Azmodan cinematic... looking as real as possible.
So for all haters who are just raging because they can... please chill out a little bit. You have the right to dislike it, but please don't make nonsense posts saying it is short or doesn't explain enough...
Just wait for the game and then rage all you want if you don't like it!
Yeah, the haters shouldn't just look at this Opening Cinematic on it's own, but as a damn intro! It's not supposed to blow your head of with 10min of useless babble that has little to do with the beginning of the game.
1 - Watch this intro.
2 - Choose class/gender and watch that intro.
3 - (Note: I'm not in the beta and has only watched a couple of beta vids...therefore I know little about the lore leading up to the Skeleton King). You begin where the Intro Cinematic ended (meteor/angel crash into cathedral). Begin playing (like in beta) and venture through places and end up going through the cathedral to go check out what the fuck has happened where the meteor/angel crashed. Hence why you find Deckard Cain there (how he's still alive is beyond me [maybe they say in beta?]).
4 - Find Skeleton King, kill his shiny metal ass.
2) Do we know anything about the total length of the full cgi cinematics in d3,or at least the number of them?(molster did mention that we get many full cgi movies aside from the ones in the beginning of each of the acts)
Well it's gonna be at least the same amount as in D2, but I remember hearing/reading somewhere that it's about 30min in total...
7/10 imho. It lacks something! And we know from the beta Cain is alive, so from that perspective, the ending is underwhelming.
3. Meteor falls in Cain's head (hype level 4.... I already kno he lives so whats the big deal >_>)
So its underwhelming because it is setting up for the story in which we are to play? Sure we know Cain is alive in beta...That doesn't negate the fact taht some people will buy this game whom have never seen a single shread of this game, so to say it lacks something because you spoiled the hell out of yourself is very arrogant and childish.
It's not because of the beta. It's just obvious that he didn't die because noone would ever kill a character in the beginning of the story before he finish his role. Unless that character is not important to the plot.
In both cases the death has no impact... But what what is really terrible is Leah screaming his name at the end of it. It feels like the video is trying to give importance to something that is not important (a random old man death by a meteor in a video game is not important unless you have 10 years old).
Ok so here is something I do not understand, and have been wondering since playing in the beta, the meteor in the Beta leaves a blue fire whole, but in this cinematic it is clearly regular looking fire color.
Wait wait, I must have missed the memo... All the characters get their own cinematic intro?
Also, why so much hate? Hate leads to the dark side, and the whole point of the diablo game is to DEFEAT the dark side. You lot make me sad face

"And at the end of days, the first sign shall appear in the heavens. Justice shall fall upon the world of men."
Tyrael is the Angel of Justice. That's all I'm saying.

I felt insulted by that psudodrama scene.
And for all those saying they feel the cinematic was missing something, yeh it is... the rest of the game!
Personally I thought it was freakin unreal, but like some others have pointed out, leah screaming out UNCLLLLEE at the end was major cheeeeese
