Official Blizzard Quote:
There was a big push on armor sets in the milestone before the break, which included a new female wizard unarmored look. Also sometimes referred to as a class' "naked" look. They're not actually without clothing, but it's the look of a character when wearing no pieces of armor.

The Diablo franchise has always been a game with a wide array of loot and drops and armor has played a significant part of this. Very little information has been given so far in regards to armor. Our first new insight to armor for Diablo III was the addition of Pants and Shoulder as equippable armor. We have also learned that while some classes will not get to yield any type of weapon, the same restrictions have not been made for armor. Another interesting concept that arose with restricting armor was with the new Male and Female characters. There will not be gender specific armor but the armor equipped on the character will change looks depending on their gender. The last bit of information regarding armor and other drops is that they are implementing a Bind on Equip system that will not allow you to trade certain armor after your character has equipped it. All of this information, however, still leaves plenty of questions about how Diablo III will handle armor. thechampion has already started an interesting thread about armor deteriorating.

Shadowdragon85 has also started a thread about the "naked" armor look which is the look of the character when no armor has been equipped. Other questions still remain unanswered however. Will there be "set" items still in Diablo III? What will the requirements be to equip gear with the removal of stat point allocation? Most importantly, what will the armor look like? With the range of classes and their unique looks, the armor must also be just as unique. Here you can see some progression made on the armor of the Witch Doctor, Barbarian, and Wizard.
What kind of armor would you love to see for each class?
Lob some Rep at Shadowdragon85 and ShaoKahn for catching this news.
I actually like this new addition to something they haven't done in the past. My only concern is whether or not the shoulder armor will have an effect on "slower attack speed", even if you get that bonus from weapons. It may even add to the attack speed and increasing the either the AR or even Hits Per Frame.
I also wonder what the high level armor for the monk will be. Most armor gets bigger and badder as the level goes up but the monk is supposed to be quick and light. I wonder how they will balance this to make the high level armor for the monk look epic.
"It wasn't a total rework or anything, these things rarely are. It was essentially a color shift from red to a sort of muted mustard color (which doesn't sound great but it looks awesome), and then a texture cleanup removing some elements and just letting the whole thing read a lot better. It looks a lot more like an unarmored look now, in my opinion. Before it was a bit busy and ... I think you also sort of have to have a very minimal naked look so that upgrades feel that much more "powerful". If you don't notice a visual change on the character with a new piece of armor then it's kind of like, what's the point? She had too much going on before. Now she looks like... haha, it kind of looks like she's about to go to the gym. To kill demons.
Also the female monk got a haircut not terribly long ago. She's looking good. Much closer match to the concepts now.
And yes you'll be able to see her soon. ish"
Ark no !! It's a mistake from Blizzard to do that in d2, bring to many flaws.
Good question!
Personnally I prefer not changing attack speed, keep it simple with a base on weapons and others items with positive % bonus.
It will be the same as others characters, every armor can be weared by every character (except requirment) !!! it will just look different.
Wizard: Something veeery purple or red, going great with the magic.
Barbarian: Something with dragging chains and skulls.
Monk: Golden and silver scarfs, white shining gauntles.
Witch Doctor: Jungle-colored Camoflage. Bag of stones and bones.
The soon to release "Ranger": Dark Cape with pitch black smoke effects.
Exactly, how do you make light armor look epic. With heavy armor you just ass more. You cannot do this with light armor.
I know that in WoW if you are a Priest, you can only wear cloth armor. This might end up being the case with the Monk. The armor, even though it is cloth, still gives a good amount of protection. Don't know how they think it does, but it does.
With the picture we see he have some part of armor only, some part of his body is nude, keep the same proportion in the same place (to not disturbe him mouvment).
What I see is a graduation of material :
tissue
leather
studded leather
chain mail
iron
shiny iron
silver
gold
shiny silver with gold ornamentation.
.... shiny silver/gold with sign and beautiful ornamentation...
Um, only if he was going to blow his nose. lol. J/K
I see cloth as a more logical choice.
ahaha lol sorry bad translation, I meant cloth lol
Also it is a single glove. The spirit of Michael lives on .
I think that for the Monk, or other classes that will need light armor, they can invent plated armour made from laminated hide, which is plastic-like.. Or something chitinous, like giant bug shells
