One of the main changes we have implemented a new escalation policy for infractions. Meaning, if you accumulate infractions automatic punishments will kick in.
- 1 Points: Warning
- 2 Points: One Day Ban
- 3 Points: Two Day Ban
- 4 Points: Five Day Ban
- 5 Points: 1 Month Ban
- 6 Points: 2 Month Ban
- 7+ Points: Permanent Ban
The other thing that changed are the infractions. This is by no means an exhaustive list of what is disallowed, but it hopefully gives everyone a fairly good idea of what explicitly isn't allowed and what punishment you will receive if you break one of the rules. 3 months after getting an infraction the points are expire and are forgotten.
- Advertising - 1pt
- Blizzard - Account Selling/Trading - 1pt
- Insulting Posts - Class/Level Bashing - 1pt
- Insulting Posts - General - 1pt
- Insulting Posts - Personal Attack - 1pt
- Signature Violation - Size/Distracting - 1pt
- Trolling - General - 1pt
- Trolling - QQ - 1pt
- Trolling - Spamming - 1pt
- Discrimination - General - 2pt
- Discrimination - Racial Slurs - 2pt
- Illegal Activities - Piracy/Hacks/Cracks/etc - 2pt
- Pornography - Disgusting Link - 3pt
- Pornography - Embeded - 3pt
- Perma Ban - Commercial Advertising - 12pt
- Perma Ban - Harmful Links - 12pt
Have a good one.
That's there so that if someone came in and caused so much trouble that a mod or admin thought they needed to go, but they didn't fall into one of the prescribed perma ban categories.
An example:someone registers and spams 150 posts that are all embeded porn. Instead of giving him 3 pornography infractions we can just hand out the singular Perma Ban - General.
The 12 point perma ban categories are not something any typical, well meaning site user needs to worry about.
Generally I define trolling as: Posting for the sole purpose of inciting arguments or increasing post count.
The rules break this into 3 different categories:
Trolling
- 1 pt - Spamming.
- 1 pt - Whine threads - Don't create threads just to QQ.
- 1 pt - Posting to incite arguments or increase post count.
This is one of the only forums that I see that actually enforces them, too. On most forums, they run wild with racial slurs, persistent name calling, trolling, etc.. It's terrible.
So... Yay!
This scares me.
I can't help it. When I have to say something, I say it. Even if it gets me banned. I guess I won't last long if I'm not careful.
I'll take those off the list as they are really just for mod/admin use anyway and don't concern the general users.
Also to try and put your mind at rest, if you get banned and you feel it was irresponsible on the mods part - send us an email and we will look into it.
heh - yeah, you might be careful then Also, the system is designed to give plenty of warning/temporary bans before it's final (it's not going to take you by surprise, unless your really, really, REALLY screw up)
I bet a Collector's Edition of Diablo 3 that he won't last till the date when Blizzard releases information on the Release Date.
(No offense, Mephisto.)

Unless I'm horribly mistaken, swearing is now allowed!
If it's used in a non-insulting way, that is. Guess it could easily be classified as insulting if used in that way.
But oh well, I'll be safe, I only ever swear to emphasize things.
Such as "What a big fucking pie."
Anyways, all explanations aside, I rather like the new outlines, and kinda hate it all at the same time.
Love the infraction point system, good idea, but I dislike how you've laid it out. Basically it's aesthetics for me, the old rule page was very clean cut, and organized. This one seems more like a mash up of all the rules, it still has headings and whatnot, but still, for some reason it just seems much less organized than the old page.
Yeah. If you get 7 infraction points you will receive a perma-ban automatically.
The difference now is that the points have been standardized and you won't be getting 5 points for thread necromancy or something like that. So you will have plenty of warnings and temporary bans - you'll see it coming
We'll work with you. We don't WANT to ban people.
Or what's up with that?
I actually have no problem with swearing as long as you're not insulting another user.
We're open to suggestions to how you would rather see them laid out. To me it's very clear and much more concise than the old rules.
That expired long ago and you are at 0 active points. You can check your infractions on your profile page.
That was actually something that I was impressed by, the rules are very specific now, instead of the broader rules we used to have.
Where exactly can we look on the profile page?
FIIIIIINE
Common sense is a great thing to have and should get you a long way. Reading the rules is also not a bad idea
