"Booyah! is a company that was formed last year by former members of the Diablo III team, who parted ways with Blizzard soon after the game was officially announced. When I say former members, I'm not talking about the guy who ran out for coffee. Booyah! CEO Keith Lee was the game's lead producer. The chief creative officer is none other than Captain Unicorns and Rainbows, Brian Morrisroe, Diablo III's first art director; and the chief technical officer is Sam Christiansen, a senior programmer on the game."
The story then goes on to talk about their departure from Blizzard:
"As for their ties with Blizzard, Lee assures me that the leaving was extremely amicable. Indeed, Blizzard's Rob Pardo is on their board of advisors, so it seems that yet another major player believes in what Booyah! is trying to accomplish."
Not much is known about the games they're going to be producing, but there is a beta sign-up page on their site in case you want to be among the first to try out their games.
So are any of you iPhone users interested in checking out what these former Diablo 3 developers have up their sleeves? Anybody have any guesses as to what they could be working on?"Booyah is creating a playful life companion that combines the immersive experiences that draw consumers to massively multi-player online games, the interconnectedness of social media, and the power of the iPhone and iPod touch."
Wow.
Tons and tons of fail all over that.
That's kind of what I was thinking.
It may be a great new market to explore, but I don't think it'll go anywhere personally.
hahahha. so true.
That actually isn't true..
Small cost games make tons of money, they can cost less than 5$, and a few hundred thousand people get them. These games aren't like Diablo3 (unless they make one like that). They can take a few weeks to make, especially with a whole team.
Even Obama understood that, and encouraged tiny donations of 25$, or even 5$. In other elections there wasn't even an option for donations that small..
If this is their full time job, they can make a crap load of money. Especially since many more people play those tiny games rather than mmorpg's. (In those polls for how many girls and boys play games, where I think girls had 43%, and I'm pretty sure in mmorpg's girls would be moved down a few points, and that is a big number. It was noted that it also includes games like snake, pong, sonic etc..
I'm glad they left Blizzard though... I don't want people that stupid working on Diablo 3
I would definitely find working on D3 more interesting than working on some minigame..
Not just some minigame. It sounds like some virtual pet thing
Playful life companion wewt ^.^ keke :cute::cute::cute:
...
lol does it matter...
Anyway, these guys are dumb, unless they do some rpg on the iphone. Which is still dumb, since the stupid iphone has to fall sometime. At&t will kill itself eventually.
I would be shocked if these guys didn't make serious bank from this company.
As did I. Mythos was an amazing game, but let's be real; it would not have killed WoW.
Only thing that will kill WoW is another Blizzard MMO, but that's off-topic.
