Blizzard Confirms New Product Next Month!
"It took a good day of calls and emails, but Blizzard just got back to us about the rumor floating around that Starcraft 2 will be announced next month during their World Wide Invitation in Seoul, South Korea.
According to a Korean website, StarCraft 2 is being developed in 3D with a new race and lots of changes for existing units. The site went on to say that additional details would be revealed during Blizzard's WWI on May 19th in Seoul.
When reached for comment today this was Blizzard's official response:
We do intend to announce a new product at the Worldwide Invitational next month in Korea, and we appreciate the enthusiasm and interest in getting an advance look at what that will be, but players will have to wait until May 19th to find out more. Also, we have a very strong connection with the characters and settings of StarCraft, and we do plan to revisit that universe at some point in the future, but we don't have anything new to announce in that regard at present.
So that's a yes on a StarCraft 2, eventually, and a yes to a product announcement next month. The only question now is are they one in the same. " -Brian Crecente, from Kotaku.
So what do you guys think? A lot of people still believe it's gonna be Starcraft (which would be fine too because, honestly, who wouldn't love to see that game revisited just as much as Diablo?) but after a statement like that, I'm thinking it's gonna either be an announcement for Diablo 3 or a completely new Blizzard title. If it's not a Diablo or Starcraft game, I'm putting my money on TacoCraft.
Alright, let the speculation begin! May 19th simply cannot come soon enough.

Ha, what I find ironic is your use of all lowercase, you don't ever capitalize, and your spelling is worse than mine, even when I make severe typo's.
im just giving an example for the next gay wow game.
definitely WoW with some photoshop on it, though. The User Interface is completely the same, with only a different skin. Even the icons for the options/skills etc are identical. Same for the chat window.
Especially the MMO-like names
In Korea, StarCraft is practically a sport.
Alright well first my opinion of the 3 announcments for this yea are as follows:
1: Diablo 3
2: Starcraft 2
3: I know you hate to think it but Blizz intends to release one expansion per year for WoW now so, I am gonna have to say they will announce the next expansion.
Now to the quote. As a matter of fact I do have links to back this stuff up. Unfortunately all the posts for jobs for the Diablo Team were filled and taken from the site so i can't link them but you can look at old news archives on this site and find posts about them. As for trademarks however this was the most recent trademark in the diablo name which if you look at the Date of Status was very recently.
http://tarr.uspto.gov/servlet/tarr?regser=serial&entry=78770575
Now why would blizzard take out a new trademark in the Diablo name if they wern't working on something? The starcraft domain can wait they own it now so its theirs until they want to use it, which would make a nice cover up or distraction from the diablo trademark activity to make people second guess themselves. A trademark however expires so you don't get one until you are about ready for it. Thus I believe that Diablo 3 will come before Starcraft 2.
You're a weirdo.
Come to think of it I remember seeing thoes positions.. Thats a good year ago? more less it was a while.
As for the Trademark, It doesn't really link anything to anything, other than the fact that they are doing something with it, which is nice to know and see form our government.
=)
Finally a post with no bullshit. Thanks
Maaaaybe at E3, if theres anyhting, itll be a WoW expansion, or, theyll announce it at Blizzcon as well...
I agree with you on this idea. I have a feeling that the popularity and demand for both StarCraft II and Diablo III is nearly the same, so why not please both fanbases in the same year?
totally 2 different types of games ..
Starcraft - clicking and zerg rush
Diablo - walking slow and ahh fresh meat
Diablo 2- right clicking and items
World of Warcraft - 8 hour long raids and loot
Chess - moving statuettes
Soccer - kicking balls
sc > d2 skillwise
when they are completely different games, Starcraft is an RTS(Real Time Strategy) whereas Diablo 2 is an RPG(Role Playing Game)
u can't compare the two, as they require different skills, like in d2 u control a single character, whereas in sc u control an army, if i was to compare sc to another game it would have to be warcraft 2.
But anyway, we shouldn't be fighting, its pointless aslong as either game is announce / released that is not warcraft related, like sc2 or d3.
Even though my preference is D3, either game should be fun to play until the other is released.
THEY DIDNT CHOSE KOREA TO MAKE THE ANNOUNCEMENT, STARCFRAFT 2 FOR KOREA FANS. that is not how it is. I hate to break it to you starcraft people.
no matter what the release is...... If it was ready to be realeased it this time ... they are going to announce it at their next event.
Im sick of everyone thinking well its in Korea soo its goto be starcraft 2..
(Take your hands off your dick and think about it for a second.)
There is no link.
Now on to the debate of which is more likely to release first.
Diablo 3 Facts:
1. It is known that Blizz North was working on a new diablo game. Blizz North was shut down and all employees relocated to blizz HQ because of the lack of meeting Blizzards high quiality standards as a means of keeping better eye on the project. The project was scrapped and reworked. All this information is factual from a Blizz North employee (do some research and you can find it)
2. Blizz took out several trademarks in the Diablo name meaning they are doing something with it SOON. the reason it has to be soon as I said is because trademarks expire therefore you don't get one until you are ready to announce the project
3. A whole score of people were hired "to work with the team that developed Diablo 1 and 2 on an unannounced PC project"
4. An email from the man who composed the music for Diablo 1 and 2 leaked saying that he was getting ready to go record music for Diablo 3
Starcraft 2 Facts:
1. Domain was bought for the site, but this isn't anything big nescisarily. This means that they intent to return to the game at some time. Now that
they own the domain they can just let it sit there until they feel like using it. Just because they have it doesn't mean they must use it immediatly and since they own it, it won't expire therefore it causes no pressure on Blizzard to release a game.
2. The announcement is being made in Korea which is the capital of everything Starcraft therefore logically Blizz would announce a starcraft title to get the most excitment for their new product.
3. Stacraft Ghost is on Indefinite Hold so making a Starcraft 2 would be a nice way to make up for this never ending delay.
So as you can see its fairly even and could definitly go either way. Personally I think that it will be a Diablo game because there is a lot of solid evidence where Starcraft only has things that seem more like distractions to make people second guess themselves.

First, they have to analyze what market their games are turned towards. In Korea, where the event is held, Starcraft is their most successful game, with Diablo having much less of a following there compared to in the U.S
Second is publicity. When they throw an event, it needs to present something worthwhile and have everyone on edge. Everything that goes on there will be relayed to all fan-sites and magazines in the world. Announcing Diablo 3 will cause only mild interest from most people, while announcing Starcraft 2 will create an uproar of enthusiasm and interest.
Third is the intelligence of a company. Blizzard didn't just yesterday figure out that they wanted to go to Korea. They also did not just realise yesterday that "Hey, our game is done. When can we announce it?" Announcements like these are planned way ahead of time, they know when and where everything is going to happen. If D3 was the next product to be done, they wouldn't have headed to Korea.
Fourth, regarding the trademark activity in Diablo. The only thing that suggests is that D3 (or anything related to Diablo) is close to being unvelied, however that does not in any way prevent SC2 from also being announced, and neither does it mean that D3 has to be announced at first opportunity.
