I tend to agree that D3 is a victim of giving out pre-alpha footage. I bet if you look at any game on the market, the ideas in the pre-alpha were far more interesting than what made it; cuz what doesn't make it is either too difficult or isn't worth making cuz it doesn't add anything.

I find it funny that people still whine about the death animations at the siege breaker.

If most the things in post #3 had been included in the game, everyone would hate them.

    i doubt this

posted a message on Things I like and don't like about diablo 3's hardcore
WARNING: This is a subjective post, feel free to discuss but do not flame me because of my opinions

Let's start with the negative shall we?

    1) No quick save and exit method - For those of you who dont know, if you use the exit now feature your character still stays in the game for a few seconds (i actually just tested this multiple times). This single handedly makes playing hardcore not viable (at least for me); As soon as you get into a stick situation you're screwed if you can't handle it because the exit now feature will likely lead to your death AND...

    2) Teleport delay - you can't town in bad situations because of the 5 (or so) second delay

In diablo 2, both of these options were available and, since diablo 3 is a harder game in terms of monster difficulty, it makes playing hardcore in d3 and surviving for a longish period of time almost not possible unless you're very well geared.

In any case, even if you like these features and feel they make hardcore much more exciting there are some things you can't disagree with

    3) The Lag-monster banner issue: Playing hardcore in a public game with strangers is not as viable as playing single player because of this issue. Often times, when clicking on a banner of a player with some mobs on him, you are not only spawned directly in the big mess but you're fucking lagging like a bi**h so you can't even preform any attacks. Blizzard should implement a 20 yard restriction the banners ( you can use the banner if there is 1-2 monsters within 20 yards of the player

    4) No hostile based system (or any permanent death system) for pvp -This was the single thing the i enjoyed about diablo 2 's hardcore system - the thought that at any moment someone can hostile you and you could be fighting them within a few seconds. Not only does diablo 3 not offer any such system but even if it did it would be to the great disadvantage of the players because of 1 and 2.

    5) AFAIK You keep your stash and gold after death-This doesn’t bother me much, but I do hear some people complaining about it. It was probably implemented to encourage those who lose characters on HC to keep playing, but a better method of encouraging someone to keep playing is by fixing any of the issues above.

    Now for the positive:
    1. No RMAH. At least blizzard did this “right” (i.e. at least we are not competing with people who use RM to advance themselves in the game.) Although this doesn’t stop people from using 3rd party websites, at least it gives me some incentive to sell the stuff I find for gold rather than money so that I can keep advancing my character rather than my bank account.
    2. I still get that feeling… When playing hardcore, I still feel pumped as I had in diablo 2 (except to a lesser extent since I’m forced to restrict myself from doing anything risky because of 1,2 in the negative section)
    3. CO-OPERATION: Even in the presence of 1,2,3 (negative issues), the community seems to co-operate more than I would have expected.

i'll stop now for all you tl;dr people lol

posted a message on 50% Dodge + 50% Block = No more Hits
    Quote from Garakan

    Hello!

A Friend of mine just tested this with his Monk. He is just above 50% Dodge and 50% Block, and he either blocks or dodges every Attack. These two are no seperate Rolls.
Basically, you cant get hit "normally" anymore.
We have seen a few Threads about this already, and everyone was assuming it will end up in a 75% Avoidance Scenario, where you Block 50% of the Attacks that you did not Dodge, but it isnt that way.
    We tested it.
    50% Dodge + 50% Block = No more Hits.
Just wanted to make that clear for everyone that read the same Threads that i did and believed what was said in it.

i STRONGLY doubt this is true

This is the the way it should work, i don't know if it does or not but...

The hit comes, theres a 50% chance to dodge it, if the dodge fails the hit is then challaneged by the 50% block rate, if that fails then the hit lands completely. So the probability of getting directly hit should be 1/4
