Yeah I could easily see microtransactionsin diablo for cosmetic items and gold. Blizzard would make some good money off that.

How is that any different than having it in paragon tabs though? You're still making a choice of putting points into stats that give you higher dps and survivability or being less powerful but having MF. You're still making a trade off. I thought at one time they wanted to take MF off gear, but I could be wrong.

First question, can this enchanting-women ad unlimeted amount of affix to an item, to cap it on affix? If she can upgrade a blue into a yellow, than giving blue item always perfekt-dopple role could give them a use.
She cant upgrade a blue to a rare. She can re-roll 1 affix on an item and once you do that you can only re-roll that one affix the other affixs on the item are locked.

Just wondering, how rare are orbs? In my years of playing D2 I never found an SoJ

They are quite plentiful actually - the most valued (has the highest exchange rate for other orbs) are considered a rare drop, sorta. I've found a couple in my travels from 1 to 76 thus far in levels.

Its a good game - exciting to trade and find items that you can amass currency to get better unique items.

It is free, I have been meaning to give it a try.

    Quote from Polrayne

Gotta come clean - I haven't been playing D3V at all for the past couple of weeks. I watch live streams of RoS almost everyday during my lunch break at our studio and am very excited for PTRs and Beta invites (if I am so lucky) but I have no real desire to play D3V at all.

So I've been cheating on the game, by playing Path of Exile.

Hold on, this isn't a post glorifying Path of Exile and flaming Diablo 3. Its more of a statement of what I've found playing Path of Exile for the past couple of weeks and how it has me worried, for the first time, about a hot button issue for the community: trading.

Path of Exile has no currency (for those who don't know) but instead uses an "orb" system. These orbs are consumables that alter your gear in various ways. They have become the currency - similarly to how a SoJ was in the D2 days. Gear in PoE is also trade able at any point - unid or used for months, doesn't matter who you trade with or on what time table.

I've found myself farming for more than just the goal of "finding the next better drop" for my character. I farm for currency, both with the intent of using some of it to enhance/change my character's skill choices and also to use for trading. I've found a few rare items that are pretty nice and traded them for even more nice currency that I, in turn, intend on using to acquire a nice legendary item that will be game changing for me.

This has provided me with excitement and longevity to a game that isn't so bad at all.

So I'm worried and want opinions - is RoS going to provide that same sense of excitement and longevity when, from a general point of view right now - Rifts and Bounties are essentially ways to farm currency to gamble of gear or potentially find good gear for yourself. Sure with enchanting and crafting we can continue to fine tune our character - without the need for trading. But will that be enough?

Just wondering, how rare are orbs? In my years of playing D2 I never found an SoJ

FHR was mandatory for pvp, and you JUST described what you had to do to stack hit rating. These stats ARE boring, and that's proven by the droves of games that have removed them because no one likes them. The reason these stats aren't fun compared to the other stats like crit change that you cited, is because without them you're in the negative, you're gimped. Without crit chance you won't do as much damage, but you can still play the game without it if you choose. I can't choose not to have hit chance unless I'm roll playing some sort of drunken character that misses a lot.

FHR was NOT mandatory for PvP. It was helpful if you had a more tanky playstyle with a few classes, for example if you just want to stomp everything with a fire sorc or elemental druid, you need FHR. Otherwise you need to play with more tactics and can't just tank everything but you are still very strong with a more defensive playstyle and items that have more power as replacement for the FHR. It's a choice you make based on your preferred playstyle. As stated somewhere before, in Diablo 2 PvP, you can avoid almost every single attack against you, therefore FHR is not mandatory.

And my point still stands. If FHR is a boring stat by your logic, every other defensive stat is as well. Scrap them too?

Regarding the stacking of attack rating, what I described is not stacking, it's having it on a few slots. Stacking is what is happening in Diablo 3 with EVERY single important stat. Stack resistance, armor, main stat, chc, chd, ias. Just stack it without using your brain and you are good to go.

Furthermore, having a lot of different stats, even if they are boring to some people, require you to have a little bit of knowledge to master your class. RPGs used to require knowledge to be good at it. And having found a good balance of all those stats feels better than beating Inferno on MP10. Also something you shouldn't forget, boring stats increase the contrast to your favorite stats, making them even more interesting.

    Quote from m80thewolf

And that's the problem with all of this. Whats fun for you, might not be fun for someone else. I think leveling up in pvp and gaining access to items that can only be used in pvp would be fun. You dont. I personally would love to see some leveling in pvp and team death matches with objectives.

And on the topic trading, I play self found now with friends. That's who I trade with, so the BoA thing with a 2 hour window doesnt bother me at all. If I am playing with my monk friend and something with dex drops I let him have it, and the same goes for him. But I still think trading SHOULD be allowed.

I admit that. In that case they should follow the upcoming WoW approach and add a competitive PvP mode without "real" rewards and a progression mode where PvP rewards exist.

Well in the case of pvp items being unlocked at later levels/rank/whatever I was in the mindset that it would be easier to balance with a set kind of stats. Or have the same stats on the items for everyone and give better unique affixs the higher your rank.

    Quote from Reeko89

How are you doing bounties and rifts with the patch???

As of now Adventure Mode will be part of the xpack not of the patch. This is maybe subject to change, but as it is right now, you won't see rifts and bounties coming with the pre-patch.

I'm pretty certain that you can reference a ton of Blue Posts where they said "major system changes [like Paragon 2.0, Loot 2.0, Adventure Mode, and "Loot Runs" (now Rifts)] would be included in the pre-expansion patch." I can only assume this ALSO means the major rebalances to skills going on, the reworking of Life Steal, and build-changing legendaries.

Act 5, Crusader, more skills, Level 70 and the Mystic would be in the expansion pack.

I don't blame you guys for getting that wrong, as most of their "expansion" talk has revolved around a lot of these features, and it has been slightly unclear seemingly for a lot of people.

But as I said, I'm pretty certain that's going to be the way they're going.

Nope, you're wrong. Check the latest blue post on the matter. As it stands, Adventure mode (and its sub modes) are RoS-only, but they're still deciding.

Yup they haven't figured out if it will be in there or not. I sure as hell hope so. Blue post link http://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/9679139107#19

No, predefined rule-sets are set into stone and final. That's not custom anymore. They just should have solved the problems from D3V without adding new restrictions.
Do you think an arcade style pvp would be cool? Basically it would be like blizzcon 2010 pvp but you didn't play with your character, just from a choice of like 10 precreated characters?

I actually really like this idea. You could even add levels to those 10 precreated characters that only get xp from doing pvp. Once you level up you gain access to better items and fight people who are the same level (bracket/rank/etc)

I dislike the idea of getting rewards for PvP. People should participate for fun and for honor in case of success.

i see a lot of confusion in this post
OP talks bout patch that will hit servers around 1 month BEFORE datadisc.

there wont be raised level, and no act 5
what we get is upgraded loot (but still level 60)
    shared paragon level

if MP1-10 gets changed in to torment version is questionable but i would say NO

They've said that the new difficulties will also be part of the patch.

Yes, but for torment you need atleast one character with 70lvl on your account. And my question was about patch, not about xpack. Until xpack without 70lvl we will have access only up to Master difficulty, so basically my question was wrong.

Time between patch 2.0 and ROS release will be enough new stuff to keep playing or most of the players will wait until ROS release?

I can see pure hate from few posts, but when patch hits, you will clear few bounties, few nephalem rifts, make few points resets with paragon points and then what? Wait until ROS....

I would assume farm paragon... kinda like what people are doing now

In fact, I'd be willing to bet that their decision to remove the cooldown on skill changing has something to do with Paragon Points having a cost to respec. You can change skills freely, but if you have a certain point spec that optimizes the use of particular legendaries, or even a particular set, in order to use something new, you'll have to save up and make the choice.

Oh, come on, your choice of paragon point allocation won't make THAT much of a difference.

Ultimately, Paragon Points may not make a massive difference until more have been allocated. However, if it at least causes people to 1) rethink gear choices, 2) think over where points should go, or 3) make decisions about battle based on either of those? I think Paragon 2.0 will have done Diablo 3 a great service.

I agree and look forward to it. There is one minor problem(if you can even call it that) which is once you've reached the paragon level required to max every category.
