Hello, guys! After checking the interview with Wyatt Cheng (by Archon Inferno) I started to realize how much a good itemization can also improve build diversity. If you didn't watch the interview, here's a good example of what they are looking for: What if there was a set bonus that granted you Call of the Ancients that lasts forever? These are the kind of changes that change your build, that offers new playstyles. With this in mind, here are my ideas of item effects that create cool builds.
Note: The essence of the ideas below is what truly matters. Balance aspects are NOT so important now, as they require some testing.
BARBARIAN
Name: Earthshatter New effect: Seismic slam deals 50% more damage against stunned enemies and no longer knockback enemies New build:http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/barbarian#aeXYRk!ZYd!YacZYc
This would be a great opportunity for Seismic slam to shine. You'll be able to easily cast this multiple times in a row against large packs thanks to Into the Fray, and the result is going to be deadly. No knockback effect is provided to enhance multiplayer experience.
MONK
Name: Master of a Thousand Fists New effect: Whenever you attack there's a chance to summon a clone of your Mystic Ally for 20 seconds. You can have up to 4 clones at the same time New build:http://us.battle.net...gjXi!bXU!ZbYbYZ
An army of monks! Based heavily on atack speed, this could be very fun to have and also very useful! When it comes to this specif build, I can use many Wave of Lights (or any other spirit spender) because of my own spirit generation and also because ALL of my Mystic Allies will have a chance to generate 100 Spirit for me. Different builds can come with different runes on your Mystic Ally
Name: Gods' Blessing New effect: When you use your Seven-Sided Strike you receive a blessing from the gods, increasing the damage of your Spirit Spender skills by 100% for 3 seconds. New build: http://us.battle.net...TeXk!VXU!bcYaYa
I like the idea of this build very much because it brings more attention to your Seven-Sides Strike, as it becomes a way more important cooldown. From time to time, you will be able to MELT stronger enemies with a series of buffed bells with the achieved buff. This build is focused on higher MPs.
Name: Untouchable New effect: The cooldown of your Seven-Sided Strike is reduced by a second when you evade an attack. New build:http://us.battle.net...TSfh!WdX!bcYZYc
An improvement to the original Cyclone/Evasion build, giving it more effectiveness when it comes to damage output. Overall, I think this is a great opportunity to make this build shine even for solo runs, as the original is conceived more as a support/crowd-control build.
Name: Dragon Palm New effect: The explosion radius of your Exploding Palm is increased by 8 yards. New build:http://us.battle.net...gSfQ!cXU!aaYcZZ
The basic idea of this build is to increase the AoE capacity of your Exploding Palm to kill large packs of mobs on higher MPs, making it more viable not just for elites and bosses. Also, the efficiency of this build is increased by Cyclone, as mobs will be pulled together.
WITCH DOCTOR
Name: Necrolord New effect: There's a chance to reduce the cooldown of your Zombie Wall by 1 second whenever one of your pets attack. New build: http://us.battle.net...YPUT!UVT!ZYcbZc
PETS EVERYWHERE! I love the idea of having lots of pets, but right now there's not many efficient builds with them. With this build, your main source of damage is Zombie Walls as long as you have many pets summoned. I also love this build because Fetishes become way more useful, granting a higher chance to proc the effect.
Name: Soul Haunter New effect: The soul of Haunted enemies explode on death, creating an explosion of pure evil New build: http://us.battle.net...djUT!UYW!ccYYac
With the idea of a Witch Doctor that haunts not just the mind, but a soul, I created this effect. This can be really really nice if the damage of the explosion is scaled with your actual DPS, making it viable for many situations. Also, I think a reasonable radius for this explosion would be something like 12 radius.
WIZARD
Name: Lord of Ice and Fire New effect: Enemies affected by Meteor and Blizzard at the same time receive 50% more damage. New build:http://us.battle.net...lXOQ!eWX!bcYaZZ
Having Blizzard and Meteor at the same build is something that really makes my eyes shine, as they are such iconic skills. Even having to spend a high amount of Arcane Power at the same time, you will receive a REALLY high increased damage from all sources. Great for multiplayer.
Name: Unstable Flow New effect: Eletrocute and Shock Pulse can be cast simultaneously. New build:http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/wizard#bUXlST!VWY!bZYZac
A really neat power for me is to cast many skills in a row quickly. However, simultaneousy is just freakin awesome. With Blizzard and Cold Blooded, you will also cause 20% bonus damage to your enemies. Another note is that the item itself should have bonus to Lightning damage.
