I also noticed when I went for more dps that I had an easier time with the game, that tanky build i was testing was there for 'just in case' scenarios. Numbing traps + guardian sentry was really tanky, the problem was that it had no life steal (but I really didn't need it).
Since noones mentions the boar companion I'm asuming noone uses it? Cause my resistances without it are shit, I guess if my gear is alright then I can do without the boar. I was aiming for 500 all res with the boar for act 1 and 2. Guess I'd need a bit more for act 3, even more if I'm not going to use the boar and go for this build (with over 40% crit http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/demon-hunter#aigdXV!ZXf!YaYbZb).
The way to 60 doesn't worry me but tips are always welcome. I have all my gear sitting in my back and upgrades come every 2-3 levels. I'm only scared of lag bombs and the like.
Point 3 and 4 are just what I need, thanks! I was only trying to get stuff with some dex/vit and all res, didn't know about the archon crafted parts or to get 4cc rings. How much max disc?
About my skill set, up untill hell i used a much more mobile build + a cold enchanced multi shot scoundrel for kiting. Someone gave me tips for gear and skills and the result was the build I was using when I got 2 shot.
To tell you the truth, it felt really strong. They did less dmg to me (numbing traps) and I was tougher thanks to the sentry shield. Still could kite a lot (it just had to be premeditated kiting, to a place where I could stand for a bit on my traps, for example) and the sentries are used more for dmg, the bubble is a nice extra if they ever get too close (wallers, for examble). Sames goes for the caltrops. I use them to get away and kite, then I try to stand on a one from far away.
Could you link your build with nightstalker and vengance? do you swap perfectionist and/or tactical advantage? I guess in my case I should swap out numbing traps for nightstalker. What about for dmg? Is bola shot fine or switch back to hungering arrow with devouring rune + elemental with ball lightning?

My story goes like this:

My first inferno character was going really slow but steady. Killed Belial in a group cause I didn't want to risk it.
63k hp, 37k dps (42 while standing on snare), 500-600 resil. I had just spent 1,000,000 on 2 legendaries (manticore and dead mans legacy). Plus around 300k on mats for sweet gems for weapon and helm. Ok gear I guess.
Step inside ice fall caves level 2. move up a bit, see the fucking huge rhinos. say to myself. ok, i need to be careful cause these guys charge. start moving back. get headbutted to death. 2 shots. 2 fucking shots. now im dead and broke. Thankfully I have all my leveling gear for the solo grind and a few of the pieces at 60.

This was a few days ago. My new DH is lvl 36 now. But I could really use some help, I have no guidance, no north star to follow. I saw "Zucchero's Demon Hunter Guide" and it looks great but it's not for hardcore. Can I follow it anyway? The builds, the farming routes?
Now, this new build took a bit to get used to. I was all about kiting, moving completely free, a fast attack speed with a 1h. Then with this new build, I had to move to the snares or the sentries, to maximize my build. Got some gear, a slow weapon that took a bit to get used to and then died. I never got to try my first build on inferno so I really have no idea how they compare to each other.
Some DH-HC tips would be nice, or if you can point me to where I can find benchmarks for inferno, or gear tips or builds.

PS: As you can see, my recently lost 60 was my first. My deaths so far have been:
60 DH - got 2 shot for stepping into icefall, died in 0.001 seconds
59 DH - stepped on an arcane sentry bubble after the whole fight was done, trying to loot a blue off the floor, died in 0.65 seconds
53 DH - lag bomb
53 DH - lag bomb
51 wizard - wasn't geared enough for hell, didn't want to spend money on him, only wanted to play him till he died. still, was looking forward to hitting 60.
42 DH - logging on and then getting out of the room before the screen popped. a single spider killed me.
36 DH - alt tabbing with no pause, alt tab back and dead
60 (6) DH - got 2 shot for stepping into icefall, died in 0.001 seconds
59 DH - stepped on an arcane sentry bubble after the whole fight was done, trying to loot a blue off the floor, died in 0.65 seconds
53 DH - lag bomb

51 wizard - wasn't geared enough for hell, didn't want to spend money on him, only wanted to play him till he died. still, was looking forward to hitting 60. 2 packs of elites got together and bukkake'd on my face.
