You still did not understand that Mira runs were NOT efficient runs they were just EASY hence why everyone was doing them. It was more efficient to BOX farm which you can STILL do they haven't nerfed all box locations yet and until they do and until they are no longer static locations on 1 map people will CONTINUE to farm them. your 15mil Mira gave in 2minutes or less I can get 115m from T6 box in 2-5 minutes and is just a little harder than Mira runs and I gain triple if not 4x the amount you get from Mira.

People handicapped themselves doing these runs because they were easy, and majority of people are LAZY and don't want to put effort into it and is why Mira runs came to be.
Handicapping would be doing that harder route btw. You did something harder for the sake of doing something harder. You took a risk that most wouldn't find worth their time. Also - It's gear thing. Not everyone is geared enough to do that, yet -everyone- is geared enough to do Mira. You're confusing the words lazy and efficient.

To go back to the original point of the topic. Do you think Baal runs were better than doing all these alternative ways we have now? You seem to feel as if it's worse off yet Baal runs were mathematically the best exp possible. As you said yourself, there are different and better ways to do this in Diablo 3. Wouldn't you agree that this is proving the point that Diablo 2 threw illusions of choice at you every chance it got?

Look at Mira runs nerfed just recently into ground. So cool of them to do this because some people liked it yet there are other "faster" runs that are way better than Mira yet they were not nerfed care to explain this? I can its easy, it was fun and a lot of people were doing it and blizzard said NO its gtg play the campaign from start to finish!
I don't know about the people you play with, or the clan you're in, however the clan I'm in and the people I play with? We did chest / Mira runs because we knew it was broken exp and we were taking advantage of it. We had builds to kill Mira in under 8 seconds on T6. Not a single one of us enjoyed it, we all at one point of the nights said "God...I can't wait for them to fix this so I can stop..."
Doesn't matter how fast you did mira runs, box runs were worth more and with the DPS I put out on my wiz with AOE damage (you know the new splash/area damage you can get on items and in paragon tree) of just 10% on a 50mil crit to 1 mob surrounded by a tun of mobs would instantly do 5mil dmg to everything around. I go through T6 on my wiz like its normal mode, I am just saying that Mira was not even the most efficient way to paragon level yet they nerfed it because everyone was doing them.

On your guild saying "God...I can't wait for them to fix this so I can stop..." is just a simple lack of discipline to not have to follow what everyone else is doing. I did Mira runs for about 5 minutes and stopped because it was too boring, plus I found my goblin spot so I do him now. Sounds like your guild needs to put on their big shoes and play the game how they want and not to follow what everyone else is doing. I would ask your guild when they are all on, Lets jump off a bridge together and see how many follow because essentially that's what you are saying they were doing and couldn't stop because they had to follow instead of make their own decisions.
No, when you play a game seriously you take advantage of the best possible way of doing things whether you enjoy it or not. Why willingly handicap yourself? Why do a run that you enjoy when it gives 5 mil exp to the 15 mil Mira gave in the same amount of time? Simply put, if you play seriously, you wouldn't. As a player who lives in online games, it was more than obvious those runs were going to be fixed the very first 2-3 runs I did. You'd have to be a pure hearted fool to not think otherwise. It was the -only- way to level. There was no alternative. After knowing those existed, why woud you waste your time doing other things? I'm not insulting you, I just don't understand why someone would break their legs and crawl around just for the sake of being special when you can stand in a glorious elevator that gave you massages and did your taxes for you.

Before I get started - I had multiple level 99s in Diablo 2 LoD. I only played hardcore.

Does this feel like a Diablo game? More than Diablo 2 ever did.

    Trading

Diablo 2 at the core was a Trading Simulator. Even then , I -never- traded with random people because scamming, hacking, and duping were such rampant problems for as long as I can remember. The longevity of D3 is extended in a great way due to BoA. I welcome it with open arms.

PVP in Diablo 2 - As a real pvper, a hardcore perma death lose everything pvper. I can honestly say that Diablo 3 brawling is even a step in the right direction. I take it you never seriously pvped in D2 so let me give you an example of what would happen EVERY game. People would unlock their screens with hacks and aim nonstop fireballs at you from an off map teleported location. There was no pvp, there was no challenge. It was "who can kill the hacker first". Even on my softcore pvp only characters, it was the same 2 builds over and over with people who spent too much money on item sites (Sounds a lot like the RMAH huh?). To what you were doing, the in game hostile killing whether for griefing or redemption was boring. It ruined the game for straight up everyone. No one wants to watch your babyrage drama spill out in the middle of a game.

    Skill Trees

Ah skill trees, artificial character progression. In early D2 when you couldn't reset them , it punished new and or bad players. That's horrible game design. At high levels of play, I was rerolling characters every 80 levels or so because it didn't feel "right" which again, is horrible game design. After they allowed respecs? It let people 100% min max every stat and the perfect cookie cutter builds were created almost over night. It was an illusion of choice and nothing more. Same with stat points. You look at your perfect future gear that you got from TradingSimulator : Lord of Economics and figure out your stat bonuses. Find the minimum STR, then keep your dex high enough for block and the rest vit(. (Dex was more of a hardcore thing). It was all an illusion of choice and a time sink, nothing more.

    Itemization

Even the devs themselves came out and said they ruined the core of the game with rune words and I couldn't agree more. Why would you want such grossly overpowered items back in the game? Especially if you claim to love pvp so much?

    End

Don't get me wrong, I don't think D3 is perfect, but I 100% feel they learned from their mistakes with Diablo2. I also spent MANY years playing Diablo2, MANY. I loved that game, but we all quit for reasons. Mine was I ended up finding better games where money didn't win the game for you. (I also quit D3 for EXTENDED time periods for this, came back for this magnificent patch/exp) There is a lot to be done, but overall, everything Diablo2 had has been done better at this point in Diablo3. Pre patch? Hell no. Now though? All my yes.

    Cheers

posted a message on A Hardcore Community?!
Greetings, my name is Melissa and I go by Missa in game. I've recently started playing Hardcore about 2 months ago (Still no deaths to this day!) and realized something way different from the "Softcore" version of the game. People here are nice, people here are a lot more skilled in general, people here are more fun! Of course there are other things such as an AH that matters, and an economy that isn't fubar, but that's not why I'm here.

I'm here because after meeting all these people and very much so enjoying my time here way more than I ever would have on "That other core", I decided, why not try to get a "guild/clan" community up and running? Would that be something people here would enjoy? Of course I'd have a joining requirement, a small one like -Must have a level 60, dead or alive.

Respond here or hit me up in game at Missa#1390 if you want to talk about it and/or help set this up! I think it'd be great to have people around at all times that you can play with and relate to in the fact that we were the 1% that made it thru Inferno on Hardcore!

I've easily found over a hundred at this point. They for sure drop A LOT less than legendarys, that's a fact.
