Hey guys , I Was wondering how the monster HP and XP gear changes will effect the paragon farming methods come 2.4.

Are we still going to have support builds with 2 dpsers or will it be 1 supp+3 dps or do you think we will ever find ourselves in a position that solo farming will be the way to go?

I couldn't get into ptr due to not having much free time these days so any input from the testing guys would be appreciated.

    Thnx

Blizz intrinsically removed the XP bonus from gear so people would not "farm paragon".

Basically, they want you to farm rifts and bounties instead of farming paragon.

So to answer your question, people will not be "farming paragon" they will instead be farming gear, mats, GR levels, and get XP along the way like it is meant to be.

since when does anything surpass the xp earned in GR80s speed farm?

XP change is great in my opinion because now everyone, including supports, can focus on gear optimization instead of xp and simply try to do higher GRs more efficiently to compensate for the measly few % a xp build will give. Now an xp build of 200% bonus exp will result in 20% which will be divided 4 ways so 5% only per player instead of 50% previously. A ruby in a helm will result in only 1% bonus exp per player now; it's just not worth it anymore. Simply doing one GR higher due to more optimized gear will more than compensate for this change due to the changes in the system.

4 dps seems unlikely except for speed GRs where survivability doesn't matter. Maybe we'll see more hybrid balanced characters pop up. Maybe a standard 1 support / 3 dps or 1 support + 1 balanced + 2 dps or something...

its all relative. it doesnt matter if the xp Gear was nerfed by a factor of a million. As long as it exists and it provides a bonus relative to gear that has 0 of the bonuses, those % become even more poweful. Thats all the botters and nerds do is farm GR so yes XP gear will still be present so they can chase para 4,000-5,000

not sure I agree with your logic. the XP focused gear most likely will mean the effective GR level you can push goes down (either for reasons of surviveability or dps) so that the net result is you earn less xp with the xp gear. In my opinion it has become a pointless, and therefore wasted stat. Maybe they should have dumped it altogether and created a new secondary to replace it. I'm thinking Life Per Second with a red gem in helmet would be a whole lot more meaningful than 4% xp, especially since the healer monk has also been nerfed into the ground.
sounds like you don't have any experience endgame or realize that they are already clearing GR 90s pre 2.4 which is when there will be even more damage done in groups and allow for even more XP gear to be used. Atm the game is only 1 dps and 3 XP supp....LOL and it will stay that way FOREVER AS LONG AS XP GEAR EXISTS....xp is the most powerful stat in the game > all else easily

Why on earth would you have a fury generator assigned to your Primary slot that only generates a measly 3 fury per attack when you also have slotted a 100% uptime AoE spammable skill that gives you 10 fury per mob hit and does magnitudes more damage? I mean seriously, this is elementary stuff

When you have 45% CD reduction on a 10s CD skill....that loses 2s CD for every mob hit...either use the skill because it will be up virtually 100% of the time, or don't use it. Don't have it sit on your bar and waste as you stand and spam other skills. Pointless

holy shit just noticed Frenzy too somehow did not before....thats an extremely noob thing to do.... Why would you fit one skill slot with something that removes your ability to use your Raekors set bonus, Charge, or even HOTA (you can only frenzy, be charging, or HOTA at one time simultaneously). It's like you're only using half of your skills and none of your characters strengths

barry when you have 45% CD reduction you dont need HOTA to attack...Furious Charge already does more damage and has every rune....that is the point of your set....you gimp your build (and your speed) by cluttering your action bar with skills that do the same thing and don't take advantage of your set bonuses

The most "interesting" thing about RiF is that people play the game without playing it, and they find it a lot more fun as long as they are getting more and more gear - to the character that they will never play with. Makes me think we could remove all the battle system and turn D3 into a simple browser game, with the same depth and playability that most people want.

What's funny is Josh (and the community) was big on saying "killing monsters should be the most rewarding way to play the game" back when they shut the AH down and put BoA in. Following that design philosophy, there should be no hesitation to disallow jumping into rifts just for boss kills and then hitting up the legendary vendor known as Kadala.

I think, unfortunately, most of the "NOTHING BROKE HERE" stems from the streaming community where, as Kongor so beautifully showed us during the Cursed Chest days, getting your whole fanbase to play your character for you (more or less) is thought of more as a tactic than as something to be ashamed of.

If Josh was serious about killing monsters being the most rewarding way to play the game then there should be something done (as Catalept suggests, spreading the blood shards out beyond just the guardian) to prevent people from just farming rift guardians and having a "full class set" in five days.
Or, simply increase MONSTER DENSITY. One of the biggest nerfs since the old Monster Power days. In the old days you could crank up the MP, port to Bridge of Korsikk and just have an unlimited sea of mobs to hack up. But they realize with the strength of some builds now, the imbalances in power would grow if T6 had such MONSTER DENSITY.

why not T6? WD can farm T6 after 2-3 hours of playtime with Kadala and RiF at virtually the same speed as T5

Hey, why do we even need monsters or big beautiful zones or anything? Just have each player's character sheet, the sheet stats of the mobs they're fighting, and immediately calculate the outcome of the battle in an instant, turn based Browser system. This increases legendaries and experience by 2-300% -- no fighting or running around.

Just have there be bosses and monsters available immediately upon the character logging in, so they can roll their Player card vs. Mob cards, not have to go anywhere or do anything, and get everything out of the game that we want, the loot and xp.

RiF is the best thing to happen to this game EVER. befor RiF struggled to gear my barb, 1.7k hours played, I played 14-16 hours a day to get my eq/ik unity set immortal set. Was a miserable existence. After i finally got it, i hadnt been outside in a month and had to learn how relearn how to walk @@. Within the first week of kadala buff/RiF i was able to get full jade/zun set for my wd. Second week full akk set on crusader. And now i will be gearing up my DH. it has brought so much fun back into the game and im loving every minute of d3 while playing around with diff builds and toons. I really enjoy leeching for a few hours, spending shards then being a runner, capped off with bounty xp runs toi really break up the monotemy of the daily grind that had become farmablo. I wouldnt play no where near as much without RiF. i am high PL, so i only enter lowest opens so it never costs me and when i run i always do lowest opes cause i like to give back to the high lvl paragons who have invested real time into the game. If u dont use rift cause of your idiotic morals or cause joe bloe geared up quicker than your main. well franky your a tool and u should RiP diablo for good.
Waaaa, I play 14-16 hrs a day and I couldnt even walk at one point. Then I started leeching off of everyone else's better, more efficient farming, waaaaaaa. Now life is better. Lmao

Nope...charms should make a comeback. The inventory space you lose to charms makes it perfectly balanced. If you don't want to be able to pick up any loot cept for the special legendary here and there, stack charms. If you want to loot everything, don't carry any, or any Nemesis bracers (which everyone else has, I stopped carrying a while ago)
