First, this kind of gear isnt very effective. Most people i know that use the gear cant do more than mp4 or 5.
Secondly, i believe with this new patch coming out that maybe Blizz is trying to instigate a new build diversity with monks by the "increased damage" to spirit spenders. Unfortunately, the gear will still be crap compared to other gear unless they up the amounts of life gained per spirit spent. It never did scale very well after act 2 Hell imo.
It kind of irks me that monks only get life with spirit spent when i look at how barbs get invincibility with fury spent in the form of perma WOTB. On that note, i dont want my monk to be a barb. But i dont want a 3rd life regeneration perk either. LOH and LS gear is already expensive as it is. But i would think it would be awesome to be able to gain some kind of perk to some skill(s) rather than gain more life. Otherwise, monks will probably just keep using snapshot builds and continue to piss other classes off until we're not having to pick between survival or super-glass cannon dps builds.
Cant wait to hear some thoughts on this. I'm all for Blizz fixing the class too
cant wait to see more specifics on the wiz and monk buffs. i want to know "how much" dmg increase they are doing to spirit spenders and why i should spend spirit. life per spirit spent gear barely works on inferno as it is so i dont know if this will be enough to lure monks away from cookie cutter builds.
look for 2 rings with these stats on both of them:
avg damage
crit chance of 4 or better
either attack speed or crit chance.
Then look for the same stats on an ammy. dont just get one of the stats, get at least crit chance/crit dmg or crit chance/ias, preferably with avg dmg too.
Then probably the same with the gloves too.
Then get some better shoulders
SOJ is great for the spirit regen. They also will have a perk for different classes. The best one is an SOJ with increased sweeping wind dmg or the crit chance increase for tempest rush. not sure about switching out a nat's reflect but its probably not a bad idea if you can afford the loss of the 7% cc set bonus
i'd drop the lacunis and get the innas pants. you need more crit dmg. you kinda get limited to how much crit dmg you can get because of the need for spirit regen and the want of exp bonuses on jewelry, which is where most crit dmg is found. Put down those Sage gloves too for a pair with crit chance and crit dmg instead, at least for TR
no for multi-monk multiplayer games its best to have different beneficial mantras. i prefer MoC and MoE for the dodge additives. but a lot of people might like the extra attack or movement speed, so there's a lot of options for 2 monks at a time
1.58 miil? good lord man, you dont need a shield. lol.
i use a shield for the 10%crit and extra resists and dex. gives me 54.5% cc which is great. otherwise i roll with azurewrath and sledgefist in a dw setup. gives me 2.7 and 2.29 aps. fun as hell and baffles people playing with me.
would it be easier to video record the runs and then go back and pinpoint the data needed from videos? (for the people that can do this) or is it just as easy to stop during runs to jot down data. i would think recording the runs and then getting the info would have to be more efficient data gathering since the runs would be normalized from not having to stop every few minutes to write down stuff.
I have 2 skorns i could use. the higher dps one has more CD and LOH. while the other one is slightly less dps, a litle less cd and 5.9LS which is technically better for sweeping winds
i couldnt get a 2nd SOJ with the Sweeping Winds bonus, and i dont have a Leorics ring either. Since i dont have Leorics, i can wear my other SOJ (or an attack speed/cc ring) and pull 15.7 spirit/sec with OWE or if i change OWE to Exalted Soul, it goes up to 16.82/sec. not too shabby. Of course i could always change cyclone to Inner storm if i really needed it, but i dont. lol. I was still questioning whether or not it was better to use blade storm or firestorm rune rather than cyclone. I have 47.5 cc with 2nd set and you had 50% and it still didnt seem like it proc'd a whole bunch
