UPDATE: So my crit damage was WAY too high compared to my crit %. I tweaked that some and got it closer to 10:1. (27.5%:322%) I also switched my spec a bit to include HotA for a primary damage source and that seems to bump it a substantial bit. After those tweaks I was able to run T1 without it being a slog and got some Trial stones. My speed seems to be decent (not good but I'm not dying or having to kite to stay alive.
SPECIFIC QUESTIONS:
Aughilds seems to specifically be a survival set of armor. I do have it as a recipe so I will craft it if it is worth it, but would it be an improvement for me if I seem to be surviving fine? (Only time I've died is with a bed set of elite affixes with multiple packs - frozen with molten explosions)
I'm staying in Adventure now and Legendaries are definitely falling. Still nothing that is an upgrade but I'm still hoping for set plans. Are there any plans that require higher than T1? Sets that are only in Bloodshard casino?
I've adjusted my Paragon (run speed, crit chance, life regen, life on hit). I was doing strength instead of run speed but enchanted speed off of boots and added +HotA damage instead. That seemed to really boost the Hammer crits more and be pretty devastating against bosses. (Nice to not be using only to kill a boss.)
Legendary gems - Do you just have to keep enchanting your rings to get the sockets, or is there some other new way of using those legendary gems.
Ok....let me retry this in a simpler way with no wall of text.
Basic questions...
1. Do blacksmithing plans have the same drop rate in Campaign and Rifts?
2. Is there a build on the forums here that is for beginning Torment? (Not as gear dependant)
I feel like I've read through guides until my eyes bleed and they are all wanting sets that I haven't found yet. I'm not expecting to be uber here...just trying to figure out how to proceed.
Anyone have any ideas?
So I was away from the game due to a new baby and being distracted by Hearthstone and Heroes of the Storm. Now I'm back and wanting to (eventually) start doing Greater Rifts.
The issue I seem to be facing now is that I have kind of stagnated trying to get into a T1 rift. I CAN do T1, but it is very slow going to the point where I can only pull small packs and my dps keeps me just slowly chipping away. I was running Master level rifts last night (quickly with no issues), but after 20 runs had NO upgrades to any gear. I was looking at crafting recipes and thinking Immortal King and Raekor pieces could be nice, but my luck with Blood Shards seems non existent. Before my disappearance in game I was working on a lightning build hoping to eventually dual wield Odyn Son, Thunderfury, or Shard of Hate. The Whirlwind is fun, but at this point I'm not sure it is still a viable build.
So....couple of questions here...
1. Are there issues with my build? Should I abandon how I'm currently fighting and go with something else (considering I don't have any current barbarian sets I can craft and limited gear.)
2. Am I better off running Campaign mode to try farming recipes or keep plugging away at Master level Rifts and hopefully my luck will get better?
3. Are there glaring issues with my gear (bad enchants or gems) where I am gimping myself with too much survivability and not enough dps?
4. Am I going the wrong direction with Paragon levels? What should I be focusing on moving into Torment?
I guess I'm just looking for advice where to head from here? It seems that I have just stagnated without being able to continue progressing. Any ideas or recommendations would be very appreciated!
I can definitely work on my Chance to Crit, that should definitely help. The only +fire that I have is from 1 item that has too many affixes that I need to change, so it's not a purposeful inclusion.
I understand the gear changes that you mentioned, but would I run the risk of being too soft by ditching all the vitality and the survival runes like Invigorate or Inspiring Presence?
I am currently in the shady area between Master and T1 difficulties. Master is mostly a cake walk, whereas I survive fine on T1, I just don't have the dps to go quickly. I'm constantly doing runs to increase my gear, but do you guys have any recommendations on how I can optimize my current setup. I like using lightning but I am willing to change some things around if I can without needing to replace all my gear to make it work.
My biggest problem that I have right now is that I'm such a low Paragon level. I have mostly been geared in legendaries or set pieces but my weapons are still not the best. I can solo T1s but groups would obviously make it faster. I tried earlier today with no takers, but I'll try again tonight.
When spending my key fragments for opening a rift for the group, is it still just the 5, or 5 for each person in the group?
That's what I was wondering, since I know T1 is TECHNICALLY better, but when you average 3-4 rifts in 2 hours, are you really benefitting from the increase?
For a T2 rift group would I be making their time more difficult or just not doing much damage?
So with the special reward weekend that is currently happening I need help with what I should do...
My barbarian is only a piddly level 72 paragon and with my gear I am in that nebulous area between Master difficulty and Torment difficulty. I can do Torment 1 bounties and rifts without dying, but my dps is low to the point where a rift run can take 30+ minutes. A Master rift run takes me 10-15 minutes in comparison. Would I be better off blasting through Master rifts at this point and take the lower drop rate/no sets, or slogging my way through To rifts and hope for set pieces?
Also a question about etiquette. .. I commonly see clan mates running To rifts, but I hesitate to joins since I don't want to be a burden or slow them down.
Thanks! This is exactly the type of feedback I was looking for. I got the MH weapon just about the same time that I got to lvl 60 and it seems that lately I can only maintain a whirlwind when I am completely surrounded by a large pack, so I really haven't been diggin the Whirlwind spec recently. I'm not sure if it is the lack of a decent OH weapon or the something with Rage generation come lvl 60, but it just doesn't seem to be working.
I actually also just looted a Skorn, but with the either the random stats or with the bug on 2-handers right now, it is actually only about 1100 dps as a 2-hander...kind of ridiculous.
So with your build are you typically running a 1-hander+shield or a 2-hand? Just wondering if I should watch out for a nice 2 hand once RoS lands.
Also, can you explain the "stacking crit chance + crit damage %". I typically have been looking to increase both equally because neither one means much if the other is low, but are there certain numbers I should be shooting for?
What are your recommendations for Paragon points for a barbarian? I've mostly been doing Strength (duh), Crit Strike Damage, Life %, and Gold %. Any better ideas?
Well, the only set pieces that have dropped for me have been for a monk or for my barbarian....only 30 levels below me. So as of now, set pieces have been quite the buzzkill...
So I've perused the forums here for quite some time and have been registered for a while. I know there used to be barbarian guides here that didn't just valid builds, but also tips and recommendations for gear, stats and things to gem and farm towards. Obviously a lot of things have changed since 2.01, but is there anyone that is reassembling some sort of Barbarian guide?
I'm just about to level to 60 (I'm at 59.75, so give me about 10 minutes once I get home) and I have been doing reasonably well with a whirlwind lightning build that leland814 had posted (http://www.diablofans.com/forums/diablo-iii-class-forums/barbarian-bastions-keep/81219-lightning-barb-very-fun-and-fast-paced-build). Now I obviously don't have anywhere close to gear that is what you guys would consider passable, but I don't even really know where to start. My gear has been consistently replaced as a work through Hard difficulty and as soon as I hit lvl 60 I'll either do a quest reset or wait until clearing RoS and then do it.
I seem to have good survivability, especially with packs of mobs because whirlwind keeps me pretty well healthy and going for rage. Bosses take forever because I can hit them and keep myself alive, but its like chopping down a tree with a hatchet. I mostly gem for strength because, hey, barbarians like red, right?
I mean, at this level should I be farming for certain Blacksmith recipes or just making runs, killing bosses? Should I be gemming differently? Should I be focusing on stats beyond damage, strength and vitality? Any recommendations would be well appreciated!
Preferred difficulty level: Entry on up. I got the game on release and got really bored with the AH gold grind. Enjoy chatting and helping people whenever I can. Character above is highest but willing/interested on leveling any character with people.

I also have a Stalgard's Decimator that has... 2856.6 DPS
1398-1667 Lightning Damage
+7% Damage
+1013 Strength
Critical Hit Damage Increased by 32%
+9270 Life after Each Kill
And the melee attack throw an axe for 343% Weapon Damage.
I worked well for single target damage with Frenzy, but the Whirlwind damage was pretty weak.
So...anyone have any ideas?
