So WotB got switched in for Threatening Shout, killing potential went up greatly and I didn't really suffer any downsides to losing the shout. Just finished clearing Zoltun on ACT2 and got a nice belt upgrade as well (+1k dps, +3.5k life, +0.3% protection, -34AR). Now I just need to figure out what I need for ACT3 :)

So now I have no trouble at all in ACT1. Usually in group play its easiest to switch to the Taunt rune on Threatening Shout and drag everything into a corner and stand there. Its kinda fun to tank plague, mortar and desecrater in a corner. ACT2 is now much easier as well but I'm starting to find I'll want another 50-100 AR, more strength and IAS for LoH and maybe 2 Vit = 1 Str to help push me into ~40-45k and up my DPS. Switching to WotB with Insanity seems like a quick fix for damage but I'm having trouble deciding what to replace for WotB.
    • Charge: is amazing, its CC immunity like 80%+ of the time with a heal.
    • Leap: is amazing positioning with effectively 3s of invulnerability and there's no feeling like charging through two arcane lasers and then jumping back over a third to end up back where you started except stronger and tankier :D
    • Threatening Shout: 20% damage reduction for the entire group and 15% reduced AS... its just better than Ignore Pain in my mind. For both solo and group play.
    • War Cry: Durrrrrrrr.
It'll probably have to be Threatening Shout -> WotB honestly.

Finally, Overpower. Why do we not use it? I'm about to test it out now on ACT2 instead of charge. It gives you more heal, more damage and works better with WotB. You lose CC immunity from charge but gain DPS *shrug* might be a good way to up that DPS I'd like to see higher.

I would point to at least 58 AResists on each piece.
You don't seem to value strength much, you can get really nice vit+int+AR gear on the AH for not much money.

Most of my pieces have a large amount of AR, the belt could be higher. You must remember Int is providing 1/10% AR and armour 1/13% AR. But a new belt is something I should look at more, its just hard to find something providing better at the moment. Thanks :)

So your avoiding 11%(ish) more damage with that extra 400 dex. Probably easier to get 3.3k more life no?

That's basically how it came out. One hundred vitality gives me roughly 3.5k life so I'll be trying to pick more up over the next couple of days. But 3.3k life isn't even close to 20% dodge, say each enemy does 3.3k life after all my mitigation and I am fighting one enemy. Over five hits I'll dodge one attack, mitigating 3.3k damage. Every hit after that is better for dodge than life. A better example would be five enemies: 20% dodge mitigates one enemy the entire fight.

Greetings! My best advice for you is to increase your HP. Probably a good idea to replace both rings, you're right on the money with the helm socket and ammy as well.

-I would probably do a Vit/aspd ring in one and a Vit/Res ring.
-A 180+ Vit/Str or Res(if you can afford) ammy would probably do you good too. The life on hit is great but i have a feeling you are dying because you are being burst down, LOH is not really gonna help you there.
-A blue belt with 100Vit 80Res would run you about 500k.

Very helpful, thank you! Currently I've now done two upgrades:
    1H
    862.8DPS (1.2AS)
    27 Max damage
    91 Str
    101 Vit
    Socket with 300 LoH.

    Amulet
    84 Str
    73 Int (7 AR)
    105 Vit
    17 Fire Resist
    187 LoH
    136 Life per second.

The amulet was a cheap bargain and while it doesn't have much AR, with it and the 1H I've added another ~8k life. I think adding IAS to gloves or rings is my next big upgrade. After that its the belt or a helm better than mine with a life% socket.

Is your resistance with war cry or without?. Also you're HP is a bit low. Think you need a better balance with strength and Vitality. And 15% HP gem in helm and you should be ready to pewpew. and wow you have loads of dexterity on your gear^^

instead of threatning shout use charge with dreadnaught.

That's with Warcry, figured I'd save everyone the effort. While Dex just kinda came out that way, I had the option of buying pieces with less Dex and no other upgrade so naturally I chose the cheaper dex heavy items. I've actually found it really useful (500 dex grants me about 20% dodge) and as time goes on and since it scales poorly. I'm starting to think stacking as many of the main stats as possible could be a very viable option that should be considered by more people (See: Napkin Math - Brobarian). I'm not sure HOW viable that much Dex is, as it pushes my dodge up meaning less Revenge procs. but I gain 20% more pure mitigation because of it.

Which brings me to another question. How does dodge work? Does it apply before, during or after block? Do I have a 20% chance to dodge the attack and then a 20% chance to block? Because if so this would be a viable way for low tier barbarians to up their mitigation without being forced to buy block%. Secondly, does dodge function like block on all attacks or just melee? Can you dodge AoE, fire-chains etc. just like I can block?

Finally just musing over Overpower or Charge? Assume they both give 8% max life for each enemy. Charge gives you CC immunity and moveability. Overpower gives you damage and more heal. What have you guys found to be more viable and why?

    Napkin Math - Brobarian:
13 items slots. Using high tier items lets assume you can get 100 of the bad stats (int/dex) and 200 of the good (str/vit) and All Resist = 50. Ignoring affixes 6+ for ease leaves us with:
    • 2600 Str (2600 additional armor)
    • 1300 Int (~130 All Resist)
    • 1300 Dex (~33% Dodge)
    • 2600 Vit (~90k health? 35 per point?)
    • 780 All Resist (+130 from Int)
Your fifth affix slot would be naturally All Resist and you're sixth becomes whatever combination of 13 affixes is best for your character (crit, IAS, life%, block%, LoH, sockets etc.)

Hello all and lovely to meet you! I'm sure everyone here is sick of helping fellow Brobarians out by now but if any of you had the time to spare to give me a couple quick pointers to set me right for ACT2+ I'd be immeasurably grateful.

    First up is my gear:
    http://img341.images...ot004edited.jpg

    Second up is my build:
    http://us.battle.net...SXgk!bVe!accaZc

My biggest concern currently is figuring out where I need to focus my attention and time. I think my major problems currently are my amulet and lack of IAS, vitality and block% modifiers. I could probably use some %life (helm socket required) but I probably need more vitality before considering that. Are there any Barbarians clearing ACT3+ that could give me some advice? Specifically:
    • How would you go about upgrading my gear to enjoyably clear ACT2 assuming I have roughly two million gold saved?
    • What would you primarily focus on to give the biggest advantage for the best price?
    • Is there any other options besides "Get String of Ears, Helm of Command and Stormshield noob!"? Because frankly they're great pieces but unaffordable in the current market :(
Thank you all for taking the time to mull over this and I appreciate any feedback (including the haters) that you have.

Edit: Okay so I upgraded my 1H and invested in a better amulet. I now have a little less LoH (-200) and another 8k health and 11.5k DPS. Now I think my next choice is Unity (legendary ring) to a better one with Str, Vit and IAS.

    Sincerely,
    TogTogTogTog

Don't listen to those haters. Farm Butcher in ACT 1, start at the second level of Halls of Agony, switch your threatening Shout to the extra GF/MF runes and tele to any random area (I find Festering Woods good), kill two elites then waypoint back to Halls of Agony Level 2. Run it, switch to full MF/GF for Warden and Butcher. Finish.

If you're having trouble in ACT2, switch to multiplayer and try running it. The recent Hotfix means damage doesn't increase with extra players so its much easier to clear with four people. The only problem you'll have is trying to survive weird elite spikes and that's a matter of positioning.

Just off the top of my head:
    • Get some Life on Hit, I'd aim for a +300 gem in a weapon socket and another 200+ split among rings or amulets.
    • Up your resistance. Ideally I'd focus on upgrading 1-2 items with better All Resistance AND Physical Resistance. Its your lowest resistance and you take the most from it.
    • Switch Bloodthirst to Tough as Nails. It'll give you another 1200 (25%) armour and another 600 (50%) thorns damage. Its the armour you really care about. (This is why you want LoH as 300 of it is equal to 3% of 10k.)
    • Up your block chance. Its currently 15% to mitigate 3k. Block works and all damaging attacks. So if you up that to 20% and then get block % on rings/amulet/helm or shield you'll be looking at 25%-30% chance to mitigate 3k. Its needed because it will block the last of the damage that your resistances couldn't.
    • Change Ignore Pain to Threatening Shout with Falter. Five seconds of 4% lifesteal (Inferno lifesteal nerfed by 80%) and 65% mitigation is not as good as 20% constant mitigation and 15% reduced attack speed.
Finally I've been seeing some Brobarians running Frenzy with Triumph over Sidearm. Sidearm is your best choice for pure damage output. But currently without LoH etc. you aren't regaining too much life and I've heard that due to its wording Triumph will still heal you for 8% of your max life rather than ~1.5%. I'm not 100% sure on this, but give it a try, see how you go :)
