how is this build with out bane of the stricken ? can u kill guardian with out the gem in 3-4min?

I haven't tried it but it seems like you'd lose too much damage compared to dropping taeguk if you can survive.

posted a message on GPU issue only when playing D3

Just happened again in a Grift, I am officially done with this game.

To ensure that it wasn't a problem with my hardware, the day before I started playing D3 again I ran games that I knew would push my system to its limits. I ran Watch Dogs with AA maxed out and Farcry 4 maxed out for hours at a time, my temps went up but nothing out of the ordinary happened. I even raided for 5 hours in WoW with the new AA options to the max and not once did my system crash. I was about 45 minutes into a D3 session with low settings when the crash happened, I even lowered the amount of sound channels being used.

It was fun while it lasted.

Edit: For the record, I do realize that D3 is a CPU intensive game, but I have a core i5 4670, it should be more than enough.

I read through all of that and the only thing that I haven't done is to try and scan/repair the game. I'll try that now, and if all else fails i'll just try a fresh install. Thanks for the input!

I'm not a hardware specialist but it seems like your card is overheating.

I keep v-sync on for that reason, if I don't then the 970 runs wild and pushes out ~400 fps and brings the temp up to around 60c. With V-sync on, the temps stay around 45c, which is more than acceptable.

posted a message on GPU issue only when playing D3

So, I just lost my latest Hardcore character to this issue, which is okay (R.I.P. Raz 3.0), but I really want to stop this from happening in the future. My GPU seems to fail randomly when I am playing D3, the screen will just go blank and my monitor will start cycling through inputs, trying to find an active one. To be honest I can't tell if it's my GPU specifically because it sounds like my whole system just goes into a restart so I press alt+f4 (just in case) and then promptly hit the restart button.

This has happened about 3-4 times over the past week or two, and this last time it finally killed me (I was in a T6 rift). I really want to enjoy playing D3, but I only really enjoy hardcore and I just can't play knowing that this can keep happening. Diablo 3 is the only game that this happens on, I can raid for hours straight in WoW and be fine.

My GPU is a GTX 970 if that matters at all, any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks everyone! Raz the 3rd is coming along nicely, he already has his Cain & Born 3-sets rolling and about to get Aughild's finished up. Once I find another decent Thunderfury, I should be just about where I was... I'm glad I saved up a decent amount of mats.

Let it be known that skeletal archers and the summoners are no joke in mass. I saw only a fraction of this extraordinarily large pack and foolishly sent him leaping in...

Things went from glorious to terrifying in about 3 seconds, which was when I had no option but to have him use his potion and just try to get us out of this mess. The Templar was dead, but he'd be back soon, he had to be.

But it was no use, he was surrounded, with waves of projectiles coming in from all directions, it seems as if the demons had finally had enough...

It was too much to bear, it was time for Raz to finally rest with his ancestors... He had earned the peace.

In the end it felt a bit like this:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rXwr890Pf_A

Rest in Peace, Raz... You Will be missed.

    Here are his rankings: http://www.diabloprogress.com/hero/lee-1628/Raz/42091227

In all seriousness though guys, if you see a pack like this in a rift, be wary. I was over 28mil toughness with impunity and superstition and these guys forced me to pot in ~3 seconds. I also broke one of my biggest rules: don't get cocky and use leap offensively in a rift, save it for situations like this.

Has your right mouse button been acting weird lately? Like not wanting to go down all the way or is getting stuck.

I got bored of grinding softcore inferno for gear so I leveled my hardcore wizard up to 60 and i'm now farming act 1 inferno on HC when I play, it's way more exciting and I enjoy watching myself climb the hardcore rankings on diabloprogress.

200 hours of play and I never found a good item to equip or to sell.

What incredible game design ? What a way to reward players for their commitment. What a way to make them want to log on.

Sorry but i'm calling BS on this. I can just barely believe that you haven't found any upgrades that you can equip, But I just refuse to believe that you haven't had a single sell-able item in 200+ hours of gameplay. Either you don't know how to spot good gear or you just don't check everything. I've played for about 160hours and in the last 60 of those i've made $80 and a few million gold... And i'm willing to bet all of that on the fact that you have had at least 1 sell-able item drop.

Edit: Have you made it to inferno or were all 200 hours spent leveling other characters?

IAS, Elemental Damage & Damage % are already calculated into the DPS, the only one i'm not sure about is Critical Hit Damage.

posted a message on Trading Safety Thread
I don't believe I've seen a thread here addressing this yet, so here it goes. This thread may tick off some scammers, but players new to the diablo series need to be sure to know how to protect themselves from in-game trading scams. I'm against both botting & scamming but scamming is what really grinds my gears. My reason? I sort of see botting as feeding off of "nature" at an advanced rate but not hurting people too much directly (it's not helping the economy much obviously), but scammers are just criminals who will actually steal something from you. It doesn't matter that it's digital, you worked hard for that item/gold and it's potentially worth a few bucks in cash, or even some nifty blizz bucks. Most D2 players will know what i'm talking about right off the bat, but for those new to the series, a scam can easily catch you off-guard. I won't go into detail about how they work, I will just help to ensure that you don't fall victim to one.

    1. When you have the trading screen open and you've just finished typing in how much gold you'd like to trade, wait at least 4-5 seconds until you click the "Trade" button.

    2. When trading an item, be sure to RIGHT CLICK the item in your inventory that you wish to trade, that will instantly transfer it to the trade screen. If you left click and drag the item, try your best to get out of the habit of doing that. This may sound silly, but be suspicious if the player keeps standing right on "top" of you when attempting to trade, even after you move away.

    3. Try your best to get the person you're trading with to send you a whisper at least once, If they refuse and only talk in party chat be suspicious, they may be a known scammer. Blizz has been known to "mute" accounts that are constantly flagged for scamming , they will not be able to whisper you, but they can talk in party chat (and trade chat too, though I may be wrong).

Remember, If someone does try to scam you please be sure to report them so that they are flagged ASAP. Also, the majority of players wanting to trade are legitimate and decent people, don't let this stuff discourage you from trading!

If you have anything to add, please feel free to share!
