Ball lightning also moves through targets and cant be "blocked" by them, which makes it invaluable for things like shielding elites. Taking out the champion with invulnerable minions becomes a cake walk.

After getting my WD into Inferno Act2 I decided to reroll and made a DH. Now that I've cleared Act1 and heading into Act2 again I can say the comparison is like chalk and cheese. The WD is so limited its not even funny; a pet class that cant use pets. I got so sick and tired of being limited to 2 damage spells, either darts spam or zombie bears. And usually the bears required very good gear just so as not to get steamrolled by mobs because you have to always be in so close.
Compared to a DH its been an absolute joy. Just being able to use a *wide* variety of damage abilities. Having both resource *generators* and resource spenders, so that I ALWAYS have something to attack with, unlike WD where you can run dry on mana and then have to pick your nose while waiting for it to regen. Having skills and abilities on the DH that are complimentary with multiple layers that feed into each other, unlike WD where you already discount most of your spells in Inferno because they dont scale well enough.
I actually hold my own now, instead of just adding some utility to a group. My regular playing friends said there was a massive difference between my two characters (even though my WD is better geared) in how fast we could put champion/elite packs and bosses down. Not to mention they dont have to listen to the neverending "fft fft fft.. fft fft fft.. fft fft fft.." of nothing but blowdarts anymore :P

I loved the idea of the WD, and the class has alot of charm. But unfortunately its not anywhere as viable as other classes can be. A pet class that cant use pets (the damn DH has pets, which cant die so they're actually usefull) is ridiculous. Dot spells that dont scale. The only class that can run out of its resource with no way to regenerate it. Not to mention that good intellect gear is incredibly expensive, and you're in competition with wizards for it. Its certainly a challenge to be successful with a WD, but alot of that challenge is dealing with frustration, rather than depth of gameplay.
The moment they rebalance the WD so its on an equal footing with other classes.. I'll be straight back. Until then I'm having far too much fun (and profit) with a DH.

    my 2 cents.

After kiting an elite pack halfway across the map and dying multiple times to finally get them down: CAN WE DO THAT AGAIN?!
