One thing that's simply not being taken into account here is the time, in seconds, between elite packs/bosses.
Once you hit around 30k damage, you really don't move faster through Act 1, but increasing your gear past that certainly does make you move through Acts 2, 3, and 4 faster. Like BigEd is more or less hinting at, there will be a point with your gear that Acts 2, then 3 & 4 come into their own.
Most people simply don't have the gear to support that, though. Many people DO have sufficient gear where Act 1 is totally faceroll, though.

UnresoIved posted a message on Nerfing gear swapping will have unintended consequences on Act 2/3/4 farmingHonestly, I can't tell you the last time I found a blue or higher out of a barrel. Whatever they did to the environment in the last patch, they completely nerfed it into the ground.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion -

Zero(pS) posted a message on Nerfing gear swapping will have unintended consequences on Act 2/3/4 farmingI get what you're saying. I'd argue that we farm Acts 3/4 for the challenge, not for guaranteed best loot. As long as everything is on similar grounds (which they will still be imho, similar not equal), I think it will be fine.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
Honestly, this goes back to an issue I've been whining about in the past couple weeks: how "progressive Inferno" (instead of "flat Inferno") is detrimental to the farming game (and thus, to the end game).
I almost can't stand farming Act 1 anymore, and I'm starting to grow tired of Act 2, but since I spent quite a lot of gold on alternate characters, I don't have enough to upgrade to "roflstomp Acts 3/4 mode" (in order to properly farm it). So I'm probably stuck on farming 2 acts I'm bored with, and one of them (Act 1) is like playing Normal with a lvl 60 character that's one of the things they were trying to avoid with Inferno, and yet it's precisely what happened (I'm so disappointed).. -

your gear gets damaged without dying by taking hits....Quote from ilikerian
How is this punishing melee? My monk can't die in act2 and very rarely in act3.
If anything, this will punish glass canons much harder since they seem to drop like flies from reflect dmg, mortar and what not.

oxnan posted a message on repair gold increase?I agree with the changes, however my only small concern would be about natural item decay, since monks/barbs are in the frontline getting hit alot, they will have higher repair cost from just normal combat without dying. This isnt much atm but with such an increase it becomes noticable.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
* exemple post above would have made his 80-100k with a ~25-40k repair bill without dying pretty much. while a range character might be only around 2-5k.
So maybe they should adjust that for monk/barb only? just a thought.
Am happy atm with the direction they are taking, waiting for that 1,1 balance changes to see how they apply themselves. -

Fallacy posted a message on Inferno nerf incomingthat would be fine, if the best gear in the game also dropped in hell, which leads me to farm gold for the time that i do play. I love the game but something is missing from inferno, i like the challenge also, but the people who exploited they're ways into inferno act 4, and did mag chest runs for 2 weeks before it got removed, and the countless d2jsp users who have 100,000 forum gold dont have to play the game, which are most of the people that are saying not to nerf inferno.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion -

I hate that they are doing this to please the lame, unskilled softcore players.
I don't count myself as hardcore, but I want that level of difficulty where I need to farm like crazy to get gear to progress through the acts.
I'd rather they make the game based on skilled play as opposed to farming endlessly until you overgear it. Overgear does not equal skill. It's actually pretty softcore/lame to sit and farm easy stuff for gear until you can beat harder things.
I'm willing to bet btw the OP plays a demon hunter. -

Dude, you looked geared as fuck. Just get some life on hit though, and I would change a few of your spells. Here's the spec I use with ~1400 life on hit (dual wield) and about half of your resist, yet can solo act 2 just fine: http://us.battle.net...Xgjh!XYU!aZbYca
I should point out that I actually can "solo" Act 2, but get the occasional yellow that causes me to die 5-6 times before he goes down (which is scary when you're afraid your armor might break before you finish him). For someone who has spent nearly 100 hours purely farming gold just to get to the point where I can actually kill every single elite pack in Act 2 if I choose to (although it's not efficient, or faceroll), I'm just saying that the game feels dead to me. It feels like I spent 100 hours farming gold just to be able to do something a brand new Demon Hunter can do much better.
I get to Act 3 and I cannot even get 3 stacks of Neph Valor, or sometimes have to reset the game because I can't even get to Azmodan's room because there is a particularly tough elite in the way. The solution? "Well, go farm Act 1 for 36 hours, and you'll have enough gold to buy one upgrade." Just isn't my idea for fun, and it's definitely "less fun" knowing that a Demon Hunter or Wizard can do this same feat with minimal gear or time commitment.
While I use nearly the same build as you, and have at times used that exact build, I'm just burned out on farming Act 1 for countless hours every day and feeling like I have no notable change to my performance. This effect is probably amplified by the fact that other classes don't have to farm Act 1 at all. -

Serithil posted a message on [US]Unidentified yellow gamblingFor those who wish to gamble with their coin in attempts to great loot without all the farm required for those shiny yellow items, I have quite the deal for you. I have a multitude of unidentified Normal/Nightmare/Hell/Inferno items that are for sale, prices will be 5k/10k/15k/20k respectively.Posted in: Old Trading
Simply add Gheed#1553 to your friends list, contact me about gambling with yellows, you'll come to my world (or me to you so that you don't lose your Neph buff) we'll trade some yellows, and test your luck.
Have fun gambling.
Edit: Forgot to put [US] in the title. -

That's just how offer/demand works. Eventually there will be less demand for those high dps weapons, and the prices will drop.Quote from YoEndead
AH is overpriced in my opinion. everyone puts up items for ridiculous prices these days. not fun when you want to gear up.
edit for grammar-nazi'ing
The biggest problem there is the people currently farming Inferno, it's a very small elite group, many of who were using the currently nerfed build for monk, wiz etc... They have an iron grip on the throat of the AH, and will have the same power on the RMAH when it comes out. It won't last forever but they will do alright out of it for a good time. - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.
