posted a message on Stuff to pass the time with
I like to play browser games in between my web surfing. I've played so many, but I'm currently addicted to
    [Forge of Empires] (beta)

Browser Games (you might enjoy - listed by company) Also I watch a lot of netflix.. although... "a lot" seems like too small of a word...

Netflix Shows Worth Watching (that you may or may not have seen - other than the obvious choices)
    • The IT Crowd (IT being I.T.)
    • Sons of Tucson
    • Repear
    • Camelot
    • Merlin
    • I'm sure you guys can help me populate this list
I'm also re-reading the Hunger Games and re-playing a new game in my library everyday until the 15th just to keep my occupied when I'm not working.

Also, if you haven't seen the Avengers yet, you probably should. (Or you will die of death)

PS: making your forum posts really colorful also passes the time quite nicely, and it looks pretty too

posted a message on Why do people vote up girls because they're girls?
My theory is girls just get more attention than guys do, period. (A lot of it can be negative too /shrug)

There are even a few meme's about it, usually facebook related. [EXAMPLE IMAGE LINK]
I just think girls are "viewed" more than guys (be it on facebook, match.com, forums, etc), and thus would have higher results in "hits" versus a male. Does that make sense? It's tomorrow already and I'm not usually up this late so I'm not sure if I'm making sense.

Like if a guy and a girl were in a race to sell apples. The girl will have 100 customers and sell 89 apples. The guy will have 15 customers and sell 15 apples. The girl will sell more apples because she generates more customers. I guess that's kind of my theory.

I think OP is somewhat correct, but it's not simply about the poster's sex. Posters that differentiate from others are probably more likely to get an upvote. Whether the differentiation is from rad posting, being or not being a girl, or a groovy signature, probably does not matter that much.

On the pretty girl gets the promotion thing though, there's a lot more to that. I work in technology, and I never feel like I'm taken as seriously as the males. My male counterparts can be somewaht dismissive, and I have to work harder to get my ideas taken seriously. Respect is not easy to come by for a woman in a male dominated industry or work environment. Also being thought attractive is more likely to get you undocumentable harassment than promotions.

    This.

Around here, female law students outnumber male law students (something like 55-45 ratio), but the industry is still strongly male-dominated since law schools were male-dominated until the 90's. It's pretty easy to observe that women need to take an extra step to be taken as seriously as men.

I was literally just talking about this with a girl at work today, and it's upsetting. This is unfortunately apparent in real life as well as in the gaming community, especially if you're a pretty girl. If you post your picture in a thread titled "REAL LIFE PICTURES!" along with 15,000 other people, somehow you'll be singled out and ripped to shreads:
    1. either because you don't exist (even though... my mother clearly remembers giving birth to me)
    2. nothing you say is ever correct - even if male Joe Schmoe next to you confirms your statement using identical words.
    3. your fan boys will stalk your facebook, cant take a hint after 3 years, somehow fall in love with you even though they've never met you in RL
    4. or you make ONE mistake talking about a game you havent played in 5 years, and the moment your memory comes back to you, it's too late because you'll never be taken seriously again - go brush your hair you silly girl

posted a message on PvP + more abilities
When PvP is introduced into the game, do you think they will also introduce more skills/abilities?

I'm not knocking Blizzard's rationalization for their "skill tree" (or lack thereof) this time around - on the contrary, I'm keeping an open mind about it. But I would like to see more abilities implemented for PvP.

I feel like the skills we're given now are very PvE oriented and I'm not sure how well they would work in PvP to make for an exciting match. Anyone else agree/disagree?

! If I wasn't so obsessed with adding this game to my visual collection, I would have pre-ordered the digital version to play 5 days earlier >.<

Play 5 days earlier? I must have missed something or??

Oh gosh I'm silly, I'm confusing the advertisements of 3 different games.
GW2, Tera and D3 all have various digital pre-order hooks. I think Tera might be the one that lets you play early (although the game has already launched a week ago) D3 just lets you play automatically - which technically is the same thing as standing in line at GameStop. It might just be slightly faster downloading it at your house. GW2 gives you a 3 day headstart. I could have sworn D3 had something also, but it might be that it's no longer available since the game launches in a week.

    either way, edited ^.^

posted a message on Pixii Bomb Squad w(o.O)W Welcome to ME~!
    Hello all~!

My name is Nicholette but I typically go by any variation of Pixii or PixiiStix. You may also see my Pixii Bomb Squad running around as Vixii, Mixii, Trixii, Nixii (etc), so feel free to say hello in game~!

I'm a 25 year young female and I've been gaming with my big brother since our Mario days and pretty much haven't stopped since. With well over 300 purchased titles in my collection, my typical genre is RPG, MMORPG and RTS but I do branch out occasionally :D

Like most of you, I've been waiting for D3 to come out for yeeeaars and I'm so excited that it's almost here! I got a chance to play the open beta and am now even more eager to start gaming straight away! If I wasn't so obsessed with adding this game to my visual collection, I would have pre-ordered the digital version to play the minute the servers go live >.< But I really want to display my collectors edition box on my book shelf with that awesome diablo skull 4GB Flash Drive!

I could keep talking, but I'll make this short. See you all midnight in 7 days!
