On the note of balancing PvE and PvP separately you guys talked about a little bit, it's something we want to largely avoid. I'm actually sort of confused where that info came from (I know you guys didn't just make it up I've seen it elsewhere). Somehow I feel like it's my fault, but maybe it was talked about at BlizzCon. We do have the ability to keep separate functionality, but we want to try to avoid big differences that make it feel like two different games when you play PvE and PvP. One area where things work differently, and we think it's ok, is in the case of CC, like stuns, snares, slows, etc. The duration of these skills is fairly significantly reduced when used against players, however, that same reduction in effectiveness is also see in the PvE game when it comes to unique/champion/boss monsters. So, it's not only a jarring difference, it's also actually experienced in PvE.
Bottom line is we'll have to wait and see but, as I said, it's something we have the ability to do if needed but would prefer to largely avoid. I just didn't want anyone to think that we're actively balancing them completely independently as that's not accurate.

I would also have to think that in the later difficulties, this would be the case even more so.
along with the Q&A answer above. CC is going to be MASSIVELY important late game, but I dont think it will be to exploitable.
this makes sense, and i guess while you will be able to chain cc's, with only 4 people per game, you wont be able to chain enough cc's to permanently chain them in the later difficulties.
i'm assuming when the game gets released there may very well be addons available to do such things like there are in wow, however it was only the beta, and i'm sure there are several little tweaks that will come in when the game is actually released as to whether or not it will be the ones you want, we'll have to wait and see.
I would hope that if Torchlight can have 3 mipmap sizes out the box, D3 can too. I would put a fiver that it's already in but not beta-patched. I hope they let us have custom UI's though, too, because that means I can make a super-duper minimal UI just because there isn't much I need to know but a handful of cool-downs.
LOL, I got the boot from the other board because I called someone a douchenozzle for typing everything in the third person with a ridiculous ego and signing every post like

He was raging about how shared MF will ruin the entire game or something, refusing to accept that even dps is practically divided between a group due to the enemy mob health increase. How the game will not be worth playing because the auction house means everyone can buy their items (different from history... how?) and how the game has no replay-ability because you can't build broken characters; in which he was technically sorta right because you really will only need to build each character twice, but that doesn't mean the game becomes less fun once you're maxxed. The atmosphere over there is really, really gross.
ahahahaha, i'd do the same thing. and i agree shared MF is a great addition to the game. i know from the WOW forums over there, that the official ones are absolute arse. such a bad community of people who post over there, almost as bad as the HoN community! another addon i'd like to see as well is some sort of dps meter always enjoy that as a rough guideline
This is just about how much time do you think it will take YOU to finish it, if youre a casual just vote 3+months that is totally fine. The purpose is too see if people underestimated inferno or over estimated it.
the solution! each person post what they think they're average played each day would be, then you can compare relative gamers to what they estimate themselves at.

I'll be playing mostly on my new Mac in the bedroom, but when the wife gets the shits with the click, click, click, click going on into the night while she's trying to sleep, I want to play in the lounge room with the older back-up computer that's hooked up to the TV.
The GPU IS the minimum requirement, but at least its on a 60" Plasma. :Thumbs Up:
ahahaha, hopefully it'll handle it! DIII on a 60"plasma, that'll be amazing
If you called it the official countdown thread then thats one thing. But its the 15 days left thread. Tomorrow there is only 14 days left. Do we have to create another thread then with "official 14 days left" title.
i definitely see this happening..what else are we meant to do with our time?
Wouldn't it make more sense to talk about how many HOURS it will take?
I mean, depending on whether or not a player has a job, wife, girlfriend, kids etc,... what the hell does 1 month mean?
1 month for me would mean about 60 hours. For others (without any commitments), a month could mean 450+ hours.
If someone who can play 450+ hours a month can finish it in 2 months, that will take me almost a year and a half.
This thread doesn't really make any sense to me at all. I am very curious to know how long it will take to finish Inferno, but this thread tells me nothing.
this is a great point i have no idea what the average hours per day would be
I am a Mayan, and I am coming here to tell you all we advanced the date of the end of the world to the 14th of may.
sorry everyone.
Don't worry guys, the supposingly Mayan's name is Jean-René Dufort, google him he's no Mayan at all. He's just a guy who got is first job in a TV show by building a false resume.
