So, tell me what this "math" is proving besides the obvious fact that millions of rares are being created each day?

The maths is that out of all the elites killed and the rares that drop, a few may be good and others meh, yes i get that but no offence but it seems your causing an argument and being a little bitch over nothing.

There was an example shown on loot, everything is loot based to progress yes we know this - the rng is stupid on the loot but thats what it is, farming and playing the game is how its meant to be done, the percentages for the drop quality has been improved, may still give rubbish loot but - salvage them or attempt to sell them for a diff class.

Those of us geared, will fine the adapting to the new patch easy and kind of lol especially act 1

But really, your complaining over? - im guessing your angry with the new changes for whatever reason but, you've hijacked some ones thread to bash a poster over an example of some possible maths and a formula.

Someone needs to go back to bed and realise that every piece of loot that drops in game has a use, salvage, vendor, equip it, sell - the use of made up numbers to show an example may not be accurate but it makes you understand the possibility of the new loot system and that all this loot isnt going to be handed to you.

D2 was like that and so is D3 - this isnt wow or some other shitty game where everything is handed to you; You gotta work and earn your items, dropped or bought.

thanks, flame and QQ away but your post will be irrelevant yet again

You must have a difficult time reading because I didn't try and start an argument with anyone until I was told to "stfu and stop qqing" about shitty loot that drops in an easy game. If you would read my first post it says two things: The game is too easy and good loot never drops. You basically echo this sentiment when you say "the rng is stupid on the loot" so it seems to me like you're the one trying to create an issue out of nothing. That time of month? :S

I'm raising an issue with the changes because terrible players ("especially act 1" rofl) can farm loot and get lucky drops (seems pretty WoWlike to me) while those of us who were already farming A3/4 prepatch are lawling through the game to find even more shitty loot. All I'm saying is they need to remove sub-60 drops from the later acts of Inferno because the 60+ loot has more than enough chance to suck already. If you take issue with that, then... have fun farming act 1?

Anyway, back to farming because good shit has to drop eventually... right?!

Didn't find a single useful item out of the hundreds of elites I killed, not exaggerating.

Someone tell me again why level 51/52 rares still drop in A3/4 Inferno?

    Here's the math for you:
Hundreds of elites you mention = ~200 elites you killed. Minus 5 to get NV buff = 195 guaranteed rare items. Out of 195 let's say you'd be satisfied with 10% quality drops. That's 19 items. Multiply that with (a random) approximate number of people farming A3 & A4 (10 000). That's 190 000. Divide by half (EU and US markets) and that's 85 000 new ilvl 62/63 rares in AH per day. 595 000 per week. 2 550 000 per month. On each AH. Finally, imagine 100 000 people clearing A3 and A4.

    TL;DR: think before qq-ing.

Ummmmm... so you're just making up a formula and thinking it proves something? You're simply stating (or rather totally guessing) how many rares are created each day with no facts or arguments supplied whatsoever. Doesn't even take into account how many of those 2.5 million rares are total junk. Basically, not entirely sure what your post has to do with the anecdote I just provided. :Thumbs Up:

Your "math" also depends on your definition of "quality drop." I would consider this to be something I could either use on my main or one of my alts or something I could sell for a decent sum - let's say over 300k. Doesn't even have to be a 61-63 item. I would indeed be satisfied with 10% quality drops but I know that's pushing it. Hell, I would have been satisfied with ONE quality drop. If I found 19 "quality drops" you'd best believe I'd be ecstatic and go buy some lottery tickets. I found ZERO quality drops and MANY of the elites dropped 2-3 rares each. I'm simply stating that it's now even more boring (zero challenge) to farm for hours on end when a vast majority (if you DO THE MATH for my personal experience this evening, that's 100%) of the items found are far, far worse than "quality drops."

tl;dr You didn't really make any points you just kind of threw some random math out and expected it to make an argument out of it. Numbers don't make arguments if you don't know how to use them.

This, only when you see a small amount of math do you actually realise - stfu and stop QQing

It will take time for the drops to come, but you have more chance to get the drops then before - the loot is still the same, just with more chance for the higher 62,63 items.

So, tell me what this "math" is proving besides the obvious fact that millions of rares are being created each day?

    RNG my friend, RNG.

I understand it's RNG but I think the numbers are a little skewed. I find enough junk blues/whites that when over half the rares that drop are useless before I even ID them it becomes exhausting. My gear is good but its not absurd to the point that I don't expect an upgrade or at least an item I can sell after a solid 8 hour block of farming the highest tier content in the game. =(

Game is pretty lulsy now. I figured I'd use my day off today to pull an all night farming marathon and cleared A3/4 in their entirety 3 times each with relative ease. Didn't find a single useful item out of the hundreds of elites I killed, not exaggerating. Pretty awesome that I can just farm vendor trash more efficiently now and rack up arbitrary repair bills without even dying. Someone tell me again why level 51/52 rares still drop in A3/4 Inferno?

posted a message on It's so obvious when someone spent real-life money on their items.
Not to sound like a dick, but... welcome to Diablo? The absence of a RMAH didn't stop people in D2 from spending $$$ on gear, not sure why you would expect anything else from "legit" play in D3.

posted a message on Another barb struggling and looking for answers
At the risk of sounding like a rant, I will give you my 2 cents from personal experience:

Unless you are willing to drop 30-40 mil on upgrading a couple slots (namely shield/weapon), I would consider farming act 2 for some extra cash or levelling another character. Unfortunately it's become pretty common knowledge that Barbs are extremely gear dependent and it has driven the price of our essential items to obscene levels. Justice Lantern and Helm of Command aren't nearly as essential as a high block Stormshield (or even regular shield) and a high LoH/DPS 1 hander. Both of these things will run you - at the very minimum - 10 million each. A high reduce String of Ears is also a solid investment but you won't find anything over 15% for under 15 mil.

Act 3 for Barbs is without a doubt the most expensive gear check for any class in the game. You need high-rolled items in each and every slot to have any chance of surviving. The good news is you won't find A4 much more difficult than A3.

    Basically, you have 2 options.
    1) Overpay grossly for moderate upgrades.
    2) Stop frustrating yourself and level another character. I hear DHs are a great choice - you can farm gear for your Barb with little more than an amazing weapon. =P

Your stats are similar to mine at the end of A2, although I had worse RA and much higher HP. After nearly breaking my computer from getting annihilated repeatedly by white Soul Rippers and Hellflyers in A3, I splurged all of my money (45 mil) on upgrades to the same slots as you need. I bought a nice 1100 DPS/600 LoH weapon with a socket for the AMAZING PRICE (seriously, good luck finding this deal again) of 20 million, a 18% String of Ears for 10 and a 29% Stormshield for the remaining 15. It took me another 3-4 mil of farming to bring my LoH and RA up, although I could finally survive. It was a massive relief when I finally made some progress and finished Inferno, but it felt like an empty accomplishment. Now I can farm for the same gear I just spent a fortune on. =/

TL;DR Save yourself the headache and roll another character to farm gear for yourself, or wait until Inferno is nerfed for melee.

posted a message on Monk Skill Animations
I just got the beta from the build contest (woot!) and Monk was my first hero choice by far. I actually really like the animations for the skills but it certainly feels weird running around with your weapons drawn and then having them suddenly sheathed when you go to punch something in the face. And it feels even weirder with a staff because you just punch slower... makes no sense.

To be honest, the skills wouldn't even make sense with a weapon. All of the skills are based off your hands or feet anyway. Exploding Palm/Lashing Tail Kick would just feel weird if you were swinging a weapon while using them. I'd totally like them just to have the weapons permasheathed and maybe just have the Monk use them as a "focus" for his powers or something.

posted a message on DiabloFans Calculator Build Contest (ONE POST ONLY)
    http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/monk#WZXjiR!dYa!ZZbYYZ

This is an AoE farming Monk spec. It relies on Cyclone Strike to group everything up and then a runed Exploding Palm to keep Spirit maxed out. It has good mobility with Dashing Strike to pick out pesky targets and stun them, and then stack up Sweeping Wind and Exploding Palm to blow everything up. This build will thrive against hordes of medium powered mobs but won't do very well against a few strong targets. The more mobs there are, the more spirit we will have and thus the more we will be able to spam our Cyclone Strike and Breath of Heaven. This build will pair well with any character that has a lot of AoE slows or stuns. Because of Cyclone Strike we will probably take a lot of damage but this should be mitigated by the defensive passives and the fact that Exploding Palm will give a LOT of spirit for Breath of Heaven.
