I actually went to vote in that award just to be able to vote *against* Diablo 3.

while D3 is a good game, I don't think it deserves the top spot. Not by a long shot.

I did the exact same thing. No way in Sanctuary or any other world, real or imagined, does Diablo III deserve that honor. Ever. The whole game hasn't even shipped, technically, because PvP was advertised as part of Diablo III - and here we are, still waiting on that patch. It has taken months for the game to lose most of its "still in beta" experience.

So I voted Assassin's Creed: Revelations instead.

posted a message on Genius ideas to improve gems!
Just for easy reference, here are what the gems provide at their highest crafted level:

    Radiant Star Emerald
helm - 31% extra gold from monsters
weapon - critical hit damage increased by 100%
    other - +58 dexterity

    Radiant Star Topaz
helm - 31% better chance of finding magical items
weapon - melee attackers take 1800 damage per hit
    other - +58 intelligence

    Radiant Star Ruby
helm - increase bonus experience by 31%
weapon - +20 to minimum and maximum damage
    other - +58 strength

    Radiant Star Amethyst
    helm - +18% life
weapon - each hit adds +600 life
    other - +58 vitality

With that out of the way, I am intrigued by the changes you suggest. The more I think about, the more I like the idea of switching Ruby to Critical Chance bonus from Experience bonus (when socketed into Helm-slot armor). It certainly feels as though it would add more choice to game-play.

I am not so certain about making Topaz into an attack speed bonus that reaches so high - though I do understand how you arrived at 15%. Then again, considering the other gems' current bonuses in the Weapon slot... maybe not so over-powered after all.

Once you get the feedback you are looking for from this forum, please consider posting this over at the official D3 forums. I will definitely vote it up there, too.

posted a message on Patch 1.0.4 Preview: Barbarian
    http://us.battle.net/d3/en/profile/GoodIdea-1513/hero/12552177

Hero profile for the streamer at twitch.tv/goodideagaming. This is essentially the reason behind the 50% nerf to CM/WW wizard build. The build is still possible, but you will no longer be able to perform with budget gear; you will have to max out critical chance. Way more effort and gold (or cash for RMAH users).

I'm a little bitter over this, considering how fun* it appeared and something I am slowly working toward. I don't want them to nerf Barbarian just because my favorite class/build is nerfed, but... daaaaaaaang.

*Fun shall be understood to mean "I kill the monsters without running away all over the map."

Look at it from a Darwinian perspective - these people are simply the weak among the herd and it's only natural that they're the ones to suffer for it. Nothing you can do can help them, short of being their babysitter. So just observe, and try to be detached about it.

(Emphasis mine.) Taking your argument to its natural albeit extreme conclusion, Hitler had the right idea about Jews, gypsies, physically challenged, mentally challenged, and politicians who didn't have friends to protect them.

And that's why we do not apply Darwinism of animals to human beings. We are intelligent and have morals that say we do not do that sort of thing to each other.

Now let's stop debating whether "they" deserve it or not and just be aware of the scam and spread the word to friends.

Just because something should be obvious doesn't mean that they deserve what happens to them. "He left his door ajar while he left to go to the corner shop for milk and the house got robbed." "Lol scrub. Should've shut the door and locked it, got what he deserved."

People do stupid things, but never forget that it's the person that takes advantage of such things that is bad.

Buy MF gear, essences, and Blacksmith plans for +6 affix items NOW if you've been eyeing any of them - I guarantee they will shoot up in price come 1.0.4. (Actually, they have already become pricier since the patch 1.0.4 info blog.)

Don't even try peeps? Really? Antivirus software is for the most part complete $h1t. Nothing but a system resource hog. Try uninstalling it and then giving the game another go. If you think antivirus software will help you then you are a fool. Anyone with basic common sense about the way the internet works doesn't need such crap on their PCs. Just MHO.

I bet you would visit Africa without getting any immunization shots.

No antivirus software is perfect. There are hogs, there are crap detectors - but the number one issue with any antivirus is the end user. Many people do not understand the difference between passive and active protection, or that those terms even exist. Antivirus software is only as good as the user that remembers to regularly apply updates and regularly scan their computer.

If anyone is looking for free antivirus software, try Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and/or Spybot: Search & Destroy. They are not resource hogs and are pretty good at catching things. If you are willing to pay for a subscription-based antivirus, ESET NOD (No Open Door) 32 is currently the best on the market.

If your operating system is Windows XP Service Pack 3 or newer, download and install Microsoft Security Essentials. It's fairly good, too.

The biggest lesson to remember, though, is no one is immune. Just using common sense is not enough because you cannot control the environment that you surf in. Anecdote: My brother is co-owner of a computer and electronic devices repair shop. He is brilliant (and I am not saying this because I am related to him) at it. He still caught a nasty infection because the website he visited had been compromised.
