My strongest memory would probably be my first playthrough of Diablo II altogether. I still remember to this day, my epic Necromancer with 1-2 points in pretty much all the skills, trying to kill Andariel with a two handed sword. Then there was Duriel that took me ~20 tries to kill with my epic army of 3 skeletons and a blood golem. Diablo was an even bigger joke. After about an hour to an hour an a half of deaths, breaking seals, pain, and tears, I had the honor of meeting Diablo himself for the first time since the first game - an encounter that lasted maybe 15-20 seconds max before he killed me. After a few deaths I came out with a brilliant strategy which involved me killing the Lord of Terror with a sapphire-gemmed crossbow. Ahhhh good times goooooood times.
I think we are actually going to have to wait until the itemlist for Inferno difficulty is going to be published. Well, that and how much is gold going to be actually worth. Also, we are going to have to wait to see actually how difficult Inferno difficulty is going to be, since you can supposedly only find the best gear in that difficulty. Another factor will be how much exactly the MF gear is going to tax your offensive and defensive abilities because if you can't go fifty steps without getting slaughtered then MFing is going to be very counterproductive. The same principle applies to GF, because if you die a lot and are going to be spending more on repairs than you can actually find then GF gear is going to be just as (if not more) counterproductive as MF gear. The only way I can really see GF gear being effective is if you use it in lower difficulties, but that of course depends how difficult Inferno is actually going to be.
I would love to have a return of the necromancer or a similar class that is mostly focused on summoning, like a warlock or something. The only reason I don't see that happening is because of the Witch Doctor class which, in my opinion, is just a more tribal take on a necromancer/warlock archtype. The classes that I'm almost convinced are going to be added are some sort a shapeshifter (Angel/Demon please) and the fearsome, ruthless, silencing Archivist *gasp*
Generally, I play male characters in most of my games because I too am a male. The only way I see myself playing a female character is if either the male model sucks or in games like Diablo III that have trailers based on a certain class/gender combo (most likely going to play a female demon hunter). The only other exception to the above "rules" is a female wizard, but that's mostly due to the nostalgia of my good ol meteorb sorc from Diablo II. Ahhh good times doing dozens of Baal/Meph runs
My opinion is kind of split on the matter. On one hand, Blizzard has a history of cutting or changing certain aspects of their games/expansions while in the beta (Custom dances, Path of the Titans from WoW). On the other hand if they would cut the physical runes they would be killing much of the game's longevity. If Blizz would make certain powerful runes rare, then they could be the most sought after item in the whole game (just like HRs were in Diablo 2). But then again, Blizz said that they want gold to actually matter in this game and that they don't want the economy of their new game to revolve around an item like runes.
