posted a message on A new take on Diablo III NPCs
I went back to playing Diablo for awhile today. And going through the olde town, theres one thing that violently jumped into my mind:

While playing A1Q3 of Diablo II we visit old tristram. THere are bodies literd all over the grounds, leading poeple to believe that the only one that "survived" was griswold, and we put a stop to that. People believe due to the corpses in the places where our old NPC friends used to stand, menas there all dead.

But think, couldnt they be unnamed soldiers? If your town was being saced, pilalged, and destroyed by demons, wouldnt you call for help? Who is to say the corpsses arent those of the failed reinforcements?? And even the corpses of Griswold and wirt looked errily similar to those drom Diablo, why couldnt blizzard just use old images to render quick corpses for the town.

I think that means the NPCs that will be joing us in Diablo III will include (atleast some of) the Diablo NPCs. So by that, possible NPCs that could see their return would comprise of:

*DIABLO: Adria, Farnham, Ogden + wife, Gillian, and Celia and lester(if blizz goes along with the largely defamed Hellfire)

*DIABLO IIa1: Akara, Charsi, Flavie, Gheed, Kashya, Warriv

*DIABLO IIa2: Atma, Drognan, Elzix, Fara, Geglash, Greiz, Jerhyn, Kaelan, Lysander, Meshief, Tyreal

*DIABLO IIa3: Alkor, Asheara, Hratli, Natalya, Ormus

*DIABLO IIa4: Hadriel, Halbu, Jamella, Izual(his spirit dissappeared, its unconfirmed what came of him)

*DIABLO IIa5: Anya, Larzuk, Malah, Nihlathak, Qual-Kehk

What do you guys think? And whos your best bet for returning?

no not really, because SHOOTING implies that there is a chance to miss. We HIT enemies. theres no chance for our attacks to miss EXCEPT by terms of different skills, aand they are not the biggest part of the game. That in itslef disporves your shooting with different weapons theory.

And im not trying to be engative about a whole genre of gaames, im simply showing my distaste for that type, while defending the genre of my liking.

Exactly, DIablo and other games are different, we have CHARACTER PROGRESSION.

Heres you char progression in a shooter.

    Quest one: Kill a guy

"darn, now i need a new outfit to go undercover... Which FBI agent drops the breastplate?"

Yes, in diablo you fight for equips, b ut shooters are shot sshoot shoot, change outfit to blend in with the mob and kill a guy on the inside. No character progression. And QUESTS, ther enot ll the same, find a guy, kill a guy, find a secret area, rescue an NPC, find an item. Heres shhoting quests, shhot a guy, save a hostage or VIP.

Even Take the mopre severe character progression, example fable. You may do similar things for 20 hours, but penidng on how and which you do, thisgs CHANGE.

Ranged class im never so fond of, but dont pull an idiotic move and bring in a gunslinger type to diablo! Amazon-esque I can deal, dont try a shooter! That is NOTHING diablo like

Its not evven "OMG go shhot that alien over there!" Its

*Quest one: Shhot the sseargent general.
    *Quest two: Shoot the traitor.
*Quest three: Shoot the mysterious infiltraitor.
    *Quest four: Shoot the creature.

There is no fun in the games when everything you do is the exact same, that just reveals a new piece of story. Why dont they just give you the entire story and then say, hey go have fun shooting random BS for 14 hours? BEAUSE NOONE WOULD HAVE FUN! Theres no structure or event to it, just shoot this guy, shoot that guy, and OMG! THIS ONE HAS ONLINE PLAY! Shoot the stranger, and shoot the friend.

I dont think the paladin was the leader of D2, almost noone wouldve played him if it wernt for his godly skills at the higher end of leveling. I would actualy say (even though im not so fond of him) the barbarian wouldve been the leader, and maybe even again in D3. Hes got the field experiance, hes got everything, but maybe a mind as he has statingly lost.

Another Idea could be a Soul controller of sorts, a kind of dark badass that can posses demons, or do some spell that controls a demon in her actions, kinda like the "Unknown" In Tekken Tag Tournament, but you control it instead of it controlling you. A master of demon manipulation
