posted a message on As a Community Let's Develop a Better Rune System
I think it looks pretty good how it is. They need to vastly improve the elective skill UI, so you can actually see what skills you have available quickly.

The rune system could benefit from some kind of rune leveling, like the more you use that skill+rune, the better you get with it. Then again maybe not... benefit from leveling might be fun enough, and more random leveling stuff might just make it seem more generic.

I don't think choosing your runes would be a good idea, everyone would just unlock the ones they want. I was kinda looking forward to having rune drops, and seeing what I could make with what I had, but I'll just have to do that with rune/item combos now (if possible). Hopefully they have some +%fire damage stuff (since items probably won't have any +2 hyrda skill bonuses or anything, making other +skill attributes would make sense), so my mage can pick skills and runes that deal fire and get a bonus to item dmg, otherwise +dmg is just too dang generic.

Is it bad I didn't even know about this until I saw this thread?

I'm all about replying to random posts, with random information, not that it matters.

Working pretty great on everything so far, I was kinda itching for a GPU update (7770), but seeing how the price/preformace on them really blows, I'm pretty happy with mine for now. I was kinda surprised I didn't feel pressured into upgrading for skyrim, everything looks pretty nice on it. Hopefully the same stays true for GuildWars2, and I can use this graphics until it dies. Only one I've done that to so far is ATI 9700pro, after 2.5yr it quit, and was still covered under warranty... I usually upgrade every 2-3yrs. Right now I've had my 9600GSO for 2.5yrs, heh. Humm, I knew about the ATI/Nvidia name similaritys, but putting them both side by side like that, and having purchased both, it's kinda funny. Oh, and if anyone was curious I didn't go direct, it was 9700pro->7600GT->9600GSO. I was so looking forward to a 7000's ATI to make the cycle complete, maybe they'll still release a killer card at a great price in the future.

posted a message on I want THIS to be MY Diablo 3! (Now with pictures!)
Identify items in town is a great idea, maybe have a threshold so that things your level and below you can identify, but higher level stuff you can't (the stuff you are more likely to want anyway). It would give a reason to get to town, and let you clean up your scrap items at the same time. I always did like how D1 did it, Cain was the friggin man.

Tbh just looked over most of the other stuff.

Well, I'm really glad they put this out. I've been frustrated by the lack of anything, for weeks at a time. I probably won't be following D3 as heavily now that this is out, seems like a bit of work do be done, and I'm still not in beta... but no biggie.

Glad to see alot of the changes, I always wondered about the whole townportal thing.

Yea, not sure whey they have whites keep dropping, if you don't want them... Well, that's not really true, it does add to the feel that you are getting more done, seeing all those items. I dunno, I'm kinda split, if it's anything like D2, later you don't even pickup magic items sometimes because they become so common... Then again later you don't see as many whites either (or maybe I just got really good at ignoring them).

posted a message on Upcoming System Reveal/Beta Patch (Guessing)
loot running doesn't seem like it's an issue, people will do it anyway. Seems like it's more of a limited beta caused problem anyway, since once you get the full game you'll want to get out of the lvl1 noob zones quickly, and just go get the better stuff. Most of the stuff worth farming will be in inferno, which you can't really farm anyway.

posted a message on Cross-Platform Support
    Lol @ argument.

$500 PC > PS3/Xbox, max 1200p isn't really feasible across the board with that, but 720p it can blow them away (which is all they really have anyway).

My 3yr old (~$500) rig runs D3 beta menu just fine
But yea, I know it won't have any problems with the game... Tbh, now you'd probably get a $300 computer to run it on high with no problems. Must be folks out there with just a console. It still boggles my mind that 5 out of 6 copies of Skyrim were sold for X360/PS3... WTF guys, PC! So, yea, Blizz is wanting to get a piece of that pie.

Oh, Totally off tangent... No, they probably won't bother doing cross platform, too much of a hassle with a small minority bothering with it IMO. I know my PS3 list is populated by PC players, with a few PS3 ppl, and the PC ppl always go for the pc game first anyway.

posted a message on Non-Luck-Based Beta Key Giveaways
I dunno if you've ever seen a time based "speed" giveaway, but I've tried several of them (mainly super sale online items). Those are very "luck" and macro based. I've seen them disappear after 3seconds, even though I was there with 10,000 others refreshing the page. Overall a much more frustrating process then a simple lottery system.

Puzzles are ok for single key giveaways, but for multikey, I could see the original intent get lost. The first person to get the puzzle would tell all his friends (multikey reward I guess), then probably would get posted somewhere.

More keys would be better then less keys though ;)

posted a message on Collectors edition, worth it?
Most of the $80 CE's are really, really lame IMO, usually a soundtrack or "behind the scenes DVD", a few trinkets, and a soft graphic novel/hard 50 pg artbook. $80 Star Wars Force Unleased 2 had (collectible steelbook (case for the game), Starkiller 2GB flash drive designed by Mimobot, digital art book. In-game content)

Skyrim's CE is basicly the same as D3 but $150 gets you a better much more detailed model, artbook, behind the scenes DVD. An extra $90 for that is way too steep, I'll grab an even better model from the mall for $40/50 (not that I need more crap), then it's $40/50 for and artbook and DVD wtf.

Eh, this is my first CE I preordered, usually don't preorder, and never really consider CE's. I'm not much into having extra trinkets laying around, artbook is ok, flashdrive/diablo skull is ok - it better light up, angel wings are pretty sweet, bluray and dvd behind the scenes sounds interesting.

It's worth an extra $40. If I see the original for $40 or $50 somewhere, I'll probably go back to that. CE stuff isn't worth $50 or $60. I know in probably 6mo to a year after release the extras will just be sitting in my closet in a pile. I've been looking at the Diablo 3 12mo calander, and am deciding against that because while I'm hyped now, july next year I'll be wondering why I don't have a Starcraft 2 heart of the swarm calander, lol.
