I just think the current state of demon hunters make us invaluable in groups but pretty lacklustre in soloing content. I believe the main reason for this is simply the way discipline works (being your skills that save your ass in inferno) and that the fact that its centered around resources rather than cooldowns. The is just no way for demonhunters to "reset a combat round" by relying on CDs to keep going. Such as wizards which are doing very well in inferno with Blizzard / Hydra / Armor.

Also another opinion is just dropping everything for DPS because the fact that we have no damage mitigation based on our resistances make us extra squishy so we have to gear immensely just to tank 1-2 hits.

Honestly, just skip them, not worth the time or deaths.

Also another reason why once you get to Act 3 it's not so difficult unless you don't have the DPS, everything moves slow other than the random Lacuni in the caves, soul lashers and phase beasts.

EDIT: Then again, soullashers are just so damn gay.

Also, willing to say that Act 4 Hell is actually more difficult than Act 1 Inferno. Lmao, true story.

I disagree, just because inferno even in act 1 has some rough champion packs if you get unlucky with the affixes, but it's definitely fair to see it's not where Inferno truly begins; it's more like Act 5 Hell.

I had a lot more trouble with Act 4 mob types in Hell when I saw soloing than Act 1, all the mobs just move so slow... The only thing that ever gave me trouble were the little frog dudes that move super fast, other than that everything is easily "run and shoot-able".

Ooo my build! Im level 58 I am wondering if the last rune for rain of vengeance with the stun will be helpful 2 seconds to an entire group for the DH is an enternity. Also I want to use nether tentacles, but I have to get a high Dps bow with cold damage before I lose cull of the weaks slow.

The last rune of Rain of Vengeance is extremely effective once you learn how to aim it, I currently run it in my set up. ALTHOUGH stampede is close in usefulness, the knock back / duration of the spell is something to be considered making it a strong choice as well.

It's a little funny when you have these 2 sides of the DH class. AKA, people who haven't passed Act 1 Inferno and are stuck on the butcher, and then there's the rest that is either act 2 / 3. Considering "viable skills" they completely change once you find out mobs are a lot faster than you no matter what, aka, caltrops and any other slowing effect are moot, damage is ridiculous, and by ridiculous I mean getting hit for 70k by a NORMAL tongue lasher ranged attack (which is instant by the way).

In reference to night stalker, honestly, I don't find the use in it unless you have a 1 hand crossbow with decen't amount of crit and even then, it's a CHANCE on crit. I'd rather just take the straight damage from sharpshooter considering it's always going to be roughly a +9% crit chance increase which is huge. The issue is, I can DPS mobs down wayyyy faster, any regular mob is not a problem for me in act 3 (other than multiple tongue lashers), even most champions I can burn down within 20-50 seconds. The problem is actually having the survivability tools to do it which just don't really exist anymore for the demon hunter other than smokescreen. The duration nerf was just ridiculous and should have been handled better in some other way, now it's on the verge of not even being useless in single player. So I am forced to group with my friends which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but they can't quite do Act 2 yet because of the ridiculous "gear requirement" needed so that you can actually pass act 2.

Starting in act 2 of inferno you get 1-2 shotted by anything. I stacked resists and got up to roughly 400 while maintaining some okay damage and 33k health but it didnt make a difference at all so I went back to my pure DPS gear. You will see it gets frustrating spending a lot of gold on survival gear then finding out that it doesnt mean shit at the moment, hopefully something changes.

I hold onto my resist gear to easily beat the Butcher, his chains attack hits for 33k and its not likely you will dodge/SS all of them.

I'm kinda at a stalemate. I'm on the second quest in act3 but I really dont want to spend the time it takes to wipe over and over. It's really not fun and not what I thought diablo3 would be like. Farming act 1 inferno isnt bad but the gear u get really isnt that great.

I feel you man, I feel you.

Caltrops are a joke on inferno, and build is inferno viable? Please act 1? Lol. Act 1 is a joke, it's meant for you to sit in and farm for days before being viable for act 2. Currently in Act 3 and I don't even bother dropping any sort of snare because of the reduction.

Also Shadow Power + Smoke Screen (What you're gonna lifeleech your way to victory when mobs hit you for twice your health? Oh wait, life leech is reduced in higher difficulties as well, woops), multishot is pointless because Elemental arrow does the job 2x better with Nether Tentacles and costs less Hatred.

Then again, any DH higher than Act 2 already knows this.

depends on your skill choice, im going meteor shower, casting it x2 is 120 AP lol i need a higher AP cap to even do my rotation

    ^ This.

It depends on your skill choice and I believe that is the decision that they want us to make as players and see what we come up with. It seems that for really bursty / high damaging abilities you'd want a bigger pool. But for cheaper or more sustaining damage effects you'd want regen, although I haven't seen if the regen is added while you are actually sustaining a spell such as disintigrate.

I think that it will eventually come to a balance of MAX AP as well as AP/s, especially in PvP because you never want to not be able to cast whether it be running out of the resource or not having it after a relativly high costing spell was cast.
