About 4 seconds sounds right, but I can time it later if anyone really wants to know the details. This is for blue items, I haven't gotten the rares yet to craft a yellow and see if it's time changes, though I doubt it will.
That may mitigate latency somewhat, but I've definitely had periods where I lagged briefly between every attack, and had long periods of doing nothing due to lag. So it certainly can still affect your combat.
As far as I've heard, the first F&F wave was extremely limited due to server capacity. Then they had more servers online, and sent out a second F&F wave. As more servers go online, I'm sure they'll start the beta. It still takes me a good 15 minutes of trying to log into the game before it doesn't kick me out on loading or character select, so there's obviously quite a few bugs to still work out before they may feel it's viable for a more general release. At least, those are my thoughts on the whole thing. I certainly hope you guys get a beta soon, though.
Can you post stats of the wizzard at lvl 1 and at lvl X so we can see how many points he gain per level ?
Both the Wizard and Witch Doctor gain 2 attack, 2 precision, 2 defense, and 1 vitality. On a Wizard, 1 vitality is 4 hp, and from watching lvl 1 to lvl 2, the Wizard got 4 hp more than that, so 8 total hp at a level.
In the streams I've never seen a wizard go below 90% health? That seems a little boring to me. Are wizards just overpowered or are the mobs just too easy at the moment?
Since you have a hireling and from what I have seen it doesnt even have time to do anything due to the wiz basically one-shotting the mob, it seems like they are too easy? ;p
It's rare that I let mobs get close enough to damage me, but I definitely screwed up twice and got surrounded and went splat, and also had a few close calls. Wizards definitely have some extremely powerful offense, but they're extremely fragile. Most trash packs are pretty easy to deal with, but as an example, when there are magic hydras spitting out energy balls, a wizard's low health makes for a bad situation.
Spectral Blade works just like any other melee based skill like Bash or something on the Barbarian, so yes.
It's a melee attack? As in you have to be right up on top of a mob to use it? That doesn't sound safe for a Wizard.
It's not safe. And it's not quite melee but it's VERY short range. But between some of the armor spells and that, there MIGHT be some way to construct a spell armored melee wizard. A crazy, suicidal spell armored melee wizard.
Any one else notice that there are different numbers of skills for different classes in the beta? (B-22:D-23:M-21:WD-22:W-25)
This is concerning to me But that might just be because I'm neurotic or something. Also, it seems that the monk gets extra short changed since he has the most number of incompatible skills (4 mantras only 1 can be active) and the least number of skills. I would like all classes to be on somewhat even footing in this regard, but I might just be nitpicking.
What do you folks think? (also leveling a wizard becomes much more interesting as those 2-4 extra skills find their way into her level progression
The number of skills doesn't matter THAT much because you can only equip 6 anyway.
Question: When dual wielding weapons do abilities that deal % weapon damage take it from the main hand(right or left?) or both weapons combined damage? Answer: As far as I could tell from brief testing, bash only uses mainhand damage and does not attack faster if dual wielding. If you wield a 2h, it does more damage but attacks slower.
Question: Can you show us a video of Frenzy being used? Answer: I don't really have anything to record video. Maybe later this weekend if I have time I'll look into it.
Question: Are you able to stack gear with lifesteal and is it as good as lifesteal gear in d2? Answer: I haven't found any lifesteal gear yet.
Question: Are you spamming one or two abilities or do you use all four of your skills at lvl 13? Answer: I'm only 9 but using all 3 of mine situationally.
Question: How are you enjoying the class overall? Answer: It feels a little light on ae, but I did play a Wizard first and am only level 9 so that's to be expected. Fantastic survivability and single target dps. Far easier to take down the King than on my mage.
Question: Are you liking the animations? Answer: They look good, it's a really pretty game.
Question: What is your left mouse button and at what level did it get there? Answer: It's still bash, with right mouse being cleave and '1' being hammer of the ancients. That may change to Ground Stomp or something soon though.
Wait, so wands are like they are in WoW, or like D2?
If wands are some lame throwing weapon like in WoW, that will be laaaame. Wands were my favorite type of weapon in D2.
Actually I don't see a real reason to use it. If you've been watching the beta videos, Magic Missle at higher levels (L5 onwards) does not seem to drain AP at all, and its spammable.
The reason to use wands is that you're limited on the number of skills you can equip, and so if you go for more of an high damage/ae build, then you wouldn't want to waste massive AE spells that take 1/3 of your mana on a single guy who has 10% of his life left, and instead just throw a wand shot at him for the kill. If your build includes something like Magic Missile, great. But if it's more of a arcane orb/blizzard/meteor build or something, the wand may end up being useful. Once you're level 30+ and have plenty of skills available, it shouldn't be such an issue, but at 8 and 9 I found myself finishing off mobs with wand occasionally, because my skills equipped were arcane orb/frost nova/wave of force.
This game better be extremely hard in hell/inferno.
I really hope they nerf some of those passives like Unforgiving. There is very little customization involved when some of your passives are so good that you simply cannot pick any other. Like No Escape for example, if you kill something with Ancient Spear it RESETS THE COOLDOWN. Think about it, that means if you manage to kill a few enemies with a single spear (using rune effect) then it's possible to get a FULL Fury bar from a single ability. Ridiculous.
I would suggest that we actually try out some of these passives in the game before posting stuff like this.
Exactly. First off, we have no idea how small or large that fury gain is. Bash, for example, is 2 fury. It might be similar. Second, instead of using that passive/rune combo, you could do Bloodthirst for 10% damage as life plus Siphon rune to get back some unknown amount of life, and use it as a healing skill. Or, depending on damage done and enemy health, go with Brawler and Weak Link to increase damage against groups by 30%, then make your attack explode if it kills an enemy, hurting everything around it. There are an incredible number of options here, and the game isn't coming out for months. I'm sure there's lots of tweaking yet to be done.
Have you tried using Magic Missle all the way thru and as your main spell vs the Skeleton King? Is it really viable as Blizzard said? I'm guessing at level 8 you can spam the spell and not run out of AP but was it punishing yourself if you didn't use other spells like Electrocute or Arcane Orb?
I used Arcane Orb for trash clearing once I got it up until the Lich King, but then switched back to Magic Missile for the fight against him since it's much better against a single target than Arcane Orb. It's definitely viable at 9, though I'm not sure how it'll stack up once you get later single target spells.
Wands - are they just backup weapons, or do you find yourself actually using them purposefully?
Yeah, too much time playing WoW there. Anyway, it depends on your build. With Magic Missile, you can spam the spell for quite awhile before running out, so wands are pretty pointless. With Arcane Orb, though, it's mana intensive enough that I'll often hit them with the wand to finish them off rather than spending 1/3 of my energy on another Orb. Mostly though, it's a backup.

I haven't used Spectra Blade yet, I'll try to check this out in an hour or two.
There are no runes in the beta. Those only start in Act 2, and we can only play the first part of Act 1.
