Dec 5, 2011Xaviarlol posted a message on Unattuned Runestones Scrapped?, Channeled Skills Issue, Facebook Sweepstakes, DiabloWiki UpdatesPosted in: NewsI'm not sure who's dogs you have been talking to, but there's zero reason to believe they wouldn't test them out in the beta in some form. Whether Bashiok meant they'd be tested in the beta or we'd just read about it on the website is anyone's guess
Just lol. Here is the perfect example of someone who has no idea what they are talking about, yet still decides to come in and post in an attempt to disprove someone who is right.
It's only been said about 100 times by Blizzard, and known by anyone who is following Diablo 3 Beta in the slightest. Score 1 for the guy who has no idea what he's talking about!
He didn't say it was scrapped, he said "From the sound of it, unattuned runestones will not make it into the game:"
[blizz quote follows]. An interesting point of view in my opinion, which is an interpretation as good as any other.
I know he isn't saying that they definitely removed them - but he is passing off a quote from Bashiok as the basis of a claim that the Attunement system may be out, when in fact there is absolutely no sign at all hinting to their removal. He completely misinterpreted the quote and posted this as front page news, as well as a direct misquote from Bashiok claiming that the Rune system will be tested on the Beta. I'm just pointing out that it was a very amateur interpretation that will spread misinformation to those who are none the wiser. -

For starters, I don't know how you got to the conclusion that they are scrapping the unattuned rune system. They have been saying for months now that they are unsure about the new system and it has moved on and evolved from what was previously said, which means that they are STILL IN the game but have been significantly changed, and they are not "ready" enough for them to put it out to the public.Posted in: News
Secondly, you misquote Bashiok on "but we're not quite comfortable enough with any of them yet to invite you in and see what you think." as "Blizzard has decided that it's not solid enough to be released for testers". Everyone and their dog whom have been paying the slightest attention to the Beta knows that Blizzard will not put Runestones, or any other content out for testing. Period. He was referring to releasing details about the system.
Sheesh, talk about misinformation. - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.

Actually, this is a really silly claim to make. Do you think Blizzard would do this if they didn't have a very strong plan to prevent tampering?
Unless you think it is news to them that people will attempt to cheat. In which case your pretty misinformed.
With that said, all actions are checked for verification by the server, if it detects tampering (which they obviously have built a system that can do this effectively) then it voids the action and disconnects the user, possibly flagging their account for review.
There is one method I am aware of that involves sending clients randomly generated numbers to use in calculations, and to cut a long technical story short, it knows what the outcomes should be and if they are tampered with, it knows.

Exactly what I was about to say.
There is always going to be "lag". But according to this article, Latency will no longer effect combat actions, which is a huge deal for us.

Looks like its confirmed: No more annoying latency delays!!

Can you guys push harder for PvP? Blizzard are on track of basically making PvP "practice only", which sucks. PvP needs at least one reward, and I think the best system is the Wagering system, as it is completely voluntary, and peoples expectations about class balance won't come into play. Only people who think they are tough will wager, and that will be fun.
I know you guys are pro-PvP, I think you should start championing for it more.

lol.
I hear they eat babies over there too.

Interestingly enough, one of the items on the latest diablofans podcast regarding "are skills always better with runes" was answered by the blog, and the blog answer was far more detailed and sounded a lot "more correct" than the Diablo fans take on it. The example was even the same, with Hydra runes, and keeping it as fire. The podcast guys said that the Hydra can only be fire if it remains unruned, as all other runes change the damage type. The blogger said that Golden rune keeps it as fire, but slightly changes the mechanic. After watching the Blizzcon 2010 panel video, the blogger was correct, and diablofans guys were wrong.
Q: Do skills with no runes applied to them seem to stay on par with runed skills? That is to say, does the original, runeless, hydra do competitive damage and scale as well as the lightning, acid, or however runed hydras? Just as an example.
A: No, it’s always more beneficial to have a runed version of the base skill. If however you like the base spell in its original form, there is always a rune (almost always Golden Rune) that doesn’t change the mechanic of the spell too much, but just improves some aspect of it. Hydra is one of very few examples where the golden rune slightly changes the mechanic as well, but is the only one that keeps it as fire.
