One thing i would like to see that would really test your character in end-game would be the "Endless Dungeon" with added "Phase" or "Wave" mode. Well, i wrote a lot but then i figured i could just say "sort of like Killing Floor" (the zombie PC game). You are attacked by a wave of monsters. You finish them and then after a few seconds you are attacked by "the 2nd wave" and then the "3rd wave" and so on and so on. Each one is more difficult than the next while giving better loot each time. (Possibly always cirka the same ammount of monsters but each wave gives them +1 or +2 levels)

This way you could really test your character and all those stats you horded through items would really mean something. This could even be included in the Banner, saying that you reached Wave 15. But then you see a guy who reached Wave 20 and you think "Fuck, i have to farm more and beat that guy!"
Sounds like the horde mode kind of idea that a lot of people seem interested in, I for one am one of those as well so sounds like a good idea

This is exactly why competitive pvp and game modes should be develoed and supported ( I.e. Content racing, "hoard mode," etc.). Eventually the story line will end. There needs to be some form of cometition to encourage loot farming for more than it's own sake, and of course the given that these options would be insanely fun!
Thats pretty much what I'm saying too, make more content so that the farming would have some kind of meaning and be used for something rather than just to have it. I realize that they said they intend to make more content and all that, I was just disappointed that it was the same concept as before where once the game is done there isnt anything else to do other then play the next harder act which is the same story line over and you will probably have to start the work you did for the merchants over as well

I kinda got the impression its like horde mode style where as you play if somebody dies you can revive them and keep going until everybody dies. Or no revives but last man standing "wins". as for perma death not sure if that what you meant or not

Well other dudes argument was a lvl 60 could run in someones game and kill everything so they can't get xp which is a legitimate concern.

Make the game private? lol :P
Sure, but what if you want to play socially with equal-power people?

Talk your friends into buying the game and play with them, then tell them to talk their friends into getting it and add them as friends.

Wouldn't help if all your friends who want to play Diablo III are too poor/bad with money to own a computer, as is the case here.

hmmm whats that commercial I think its like blue hippo or something they will give you money as long as you have a checking account... and then problem solved :)

..i'll see if i can find it

i don't think OP wanted per se an expanding story, but rather he threw one out so people wouldn't be saying, "well look we have inferno mode for end game"

he wanted some other form of end game outside of arena pvp we currently have and progressively higher difficulty is how i interpreted

exactly. I hate to bring WoW into it but it's the best example I can thing of, you get the gear you run raids and expand the endgame that way. As it is now you get the gear and then what? My biggest issue is wasting my accomplishments, in this case i beat 4 difficulties, got gear, worked out my build, all that....now what? level an alt and do it again? just feels like a waste to me when something more should happen, I feel like I should be building towards a goal like if you go through all the acts and all that and THEN kill diablo or something like that, I could deal with that

For PVP you can't, but I don't believe PVE is restricted like that, although you can choose diff matchmaking parameters. Could be wrong tho.

I coulda sworn they'd said they were doing this, but I could be wrong. I dunno, I feel like they will aim to group up roughly similar people, whether it be on quest progression or all their PVP parameters.

I don't recall reading anything about PvE restrictions, though given your example it would certainly be something I'd like in addition to just having open and passworded games. Would be disrupting to the experience if d-bags come in and troll all over you so level restrictions and whatnot would be preferable to leaving and making a new game.

Says the person who spent a whole post calling me a grammar Nazi. :P
lol I'll give you that one but there was the difference that mine was out of lazyness, I knew the correct spelling I just chose not to use it. Him on the other hand chose to use a bigger word than was necessary and grammatically incorrect only to be a troll and have nothing worthy of the topic

I don't think it would ruin anything because I heard the xp is percentage based so really all he would be doing would be rushing the storyline which Jay said was fine.

So I didn't really think about it before but listening to the podcast and the whole there is no end game bit kinda bummed me out and made me realize that yeah what is the point really in playing threw over and over just to get the gear that in the end doesn't do you any good because you beat the final difficulty, I remember I stopped playing after normal mode in d2 for that very reason, its like well I already beat it why would I want to play threw again just to have it be harder, I know the story now nothing new is going to happen. Sure now you can sell stuff you find maybe get some real money but it's not going to be much. I was all pumped to play too, now I am just bummed. I guess it is probly just all the anticipation building and building and there has been no real new talk or news to speak of and its just like now I don't care anymore because they just keeps teasing us with it.

Something interesting they could do with the play through would be like different events happening, like say first act you kill diablo, second play would be what would happen if diablo weren't killed or like the madness that was happening to you from the soul stone. Something like parallel realities or something where different decisions were made and still using the same basic layout of replaying the storyline over, you got to keep the gear you found but still find out what would happen in different scenarios. Idk something that the story would have new events to keep things interesting.

But this is just my venting and rambling I feel better now :)

Ok, you obvious doesn't get Diablo games...
    I believe you meant don't

And yes I get them just fine and I know my idea would not fit for diablo 3 unless they had done this in diablo 1 then sure it would be fine, but since all it took to keep people happy then was the simple minded hack and slash it doesn't fit, but it was an idea to give the game more depth which if you learned to read and write you would have picked up on the theme of the post.

I love it how you people use the word Nazi so freely... its like... not cool.

On Topic: I dunno what you expected... Diablo was allways about the loot. So the endgame being all about farming Items isnt that surprising.

I love how you used you people...you sir are racist...not cool

On topic: I was kind of hoping something a little more original I guess, they said d3 is not the same as d2 but the core of it is, crawl "through" dungeons hack and slash the whole game, get loot with a cool story line. That's most every game, not that its always a bad thing but forgive me if I was hoping for something a little more in depth after waiting this long since d2

Well there are still other plans for endgame they just won't be out for ship. Possibly in an expansion. But imo there is plenty to do. The armors dont recycle in the next difficulty, there are random quest events that will add some diversity, pvp that eventually may spill into new mods, etc etc. The possibilities during the games lifespan have been shown to be quite endless with all the innovation they are putting into it.

EDIT: Personally, I'm hoping for eventual guild support.

I know it won't as doom and gloom as it sounds, when d2 was the game to play I was young and got bored with games easy. Now that I have grown and had more experience in gaming I'm sure there will be enough to do in game to keep me entertained and happy with the game, I may even pvp since that is something I never end up doing and I may enjoy it and that would be all I would need

The game's always been about the loot (for me, atleast). The "endgame" was exciting news for me.

Also, "through" not "threw". At least, in the context you were using.

ahh grammar nazi! I actually thought about changing it because I figured that very thing would happen, but I felt like being lazy except for the last one there

I didn't threaten to kill you or anything (thanks for calling me a Nazi...-_-). I just politely corrected you, and it'd be appreciated if y'all didn't overreact like prepubescent children.

I meant no offense, nor do I care that you corrected me. I was just messing with you/giving you a hard time because the grammar police/nazi's are the running joke when people do that
