proletaria posted a message on DII Characters were disposable.Posted in: Diablo III General DiscussionQuote from Kildeer888
Can you explain to me what you'll do when you reach level 60? Then there's no more leveling up to do. IMO, the only real thing to do is maybe play some pvp if you're into that and then start a new character from level 1. But please elaborate.
I'll be looking to optomize my equipment and get into hardcore as my confidence allows.
Personally, I think the endgame is going to be much more elaborate than before and there will be plenty to do when level capped. I find no reason to assume we'll see 60 as the new 99 with no new goals except finding items for our alts and pvp. -

Ethezial posted a message on DII Characters were disposable. One thing that I think I'm really excited about in DIII is not having to start over to make a new build. One of the things I really disliked about DII is that your characters were disposable, to a point where you didn't really feel connected to them. You'd level a character, make a build, get bored with the build, and then make a new character, rinse, repeat. Especially when ladder was introduced, and when resets happened, your then non-ladder character pretty much became recycle bin material.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
I think that not having to make as many characters to try different builds will be much better. I like the idea of sticking with the same character for a longer period of time, I'll feel more connected to the character, thus more connected to the game. I really think it will be totally awesome to have a character that you'll stay with, & that you won't just feel like it's a character you will just delete later if you get tired of the build. -

Viyro posted a message on Diablo 3 and its EconomyHello,Posted in: Old Trading
I don't post on these forums much though I've been a Diablo 2 player off and on over the corse of 6-7 years roughly. Going from the bottom of the economy through the top(minority). All I've seen is post after post as I've read through blue posts etc of people bashing the RMAH. The top end of the economy was not done in game for Diablo 2. Rather on a website called d2jsp. This website promoted buying "forum gold" with RL money then trading that FG for items to other players. Is this not the same thing? How many people boycotted D2jsp when they actually learned the system set in place and had all of that at their disposal? Reguardless, it was still a minority of the game. 95% of public characters had no idea was d2jsp was. I'm assuming now that the game is at a specific poin almost everyone would know about it and use it. I haven't played in quite some time. In 1.08/1.09 duped items ran rampant. Most people traded for these items in game (not buying them) with their own items. Most not knowing that they'd disapear. These items ran the economy of Diablo 2.
My point in this post is that the RMAH is just giving a legit way of what is already happening. People complaining about this are ignorant. Why would blizzard (being a good gaming company) allow ways for you to be scammed? They're giving players what they're already doing wether admiting to or not players "ebay" their items. This simply takes away scaming because Blizzard is giving you a secure way of doing this. Who are you going to trust with your money more? Blizzard who made the game or joe shmoe down the road who runs a website? I'm not saying I'll use the RMAH whihc I may use it once in a blue moon to sell / buy. I'll more then likely never put more then an initial 10$ into my account and plan on making money before spending money (E-Balance). People did similar things with d2jsp. They'd start and buy 100fg or w/e to get them going then they'd trade their items for FG.
How many people on d2jsp cried that they were scamed? You'd have to spend time finding a moderator for any bigger trade and even then you'd have to trust that person. IF the trade was big enough I'm sure they'd take the items as well. Njaguar the host of d2jsp would have to promote these "moderators" based on what he's been told from other players etc. I'm sure they've run into multiple instances where moderators kept the items IE: Ending with players out items. With the RMAH this CANT happen.
Furthermore, Blizzard is a COMPANY. They need to make profit off of a game consistently for them to continue to run that game, pump money back into it. How can you pay employee's to do something when your "losing" money on? Look at the timeline gaps for "content" patches for Diablo 2. Players should welcome the RMAH and use it if its going to push content patches / server matinence etc. The Diablo 2 scene ran rampant etc because why would Blizzard dump money into the game when they aren't making money off of it. Box Sales aren't enough its not a static form of income and can be very sparatic. They didn't do updates frequently to combat hacks / mods etc because there was no point for them to do so. You can't justify paying an employee to do something that costs you money if your not making money.
Also, love posters like Firce or whatever bashing people with valid opinions. At the end of the day an opinion is a opinion wether wrong or not most of them are still valid and worth conisideration. Simply calling people names because your frustrated because the point your trying to prove isn't getting accross is ignorant. If the game frustrates you that much and the changes they are doing frustrate you that much simply stop posting and don't buy the game. 1 Person's word doesn't matter. Yes there is conflictions to the RMAH etc but until the full game is in your hands and your playing it and its fully operational/being tested you have no idea what your talking about. They can continuously try to tell you in text what your looking at but is endgame even tested yet? Do you kno the drop rates of rares / legendaries / set items / good items from artisans? No you don't. We don't, only they do. The people creating the game having the entire thing infront of them would kno better then any of us to an extent. Everyones view is different.

Hey fans,Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
I was just watching the B-Roll video (again, hurr) only this time it was from the downloaded version of the Press Kit, and I was watching it closely.
Not sure if anyone has pointed this out, but I recall a thread from a while back pertaining to offhand items (i.e. shrunken heads). It looks like Blizzard has gotten a bit more creative with this idea.
At 0:56 we see the Witch Doctor toting around a snake by the neck, the physics engine doing a nice job of swinging it all over the place. Whether or not this snake is living is hard to tell from the video itself.
Starting from 1:32, a shrunken head can be seen dangling by its hair within the Witch Doctor's hand, akin to the Necromancer-specific offhands in Diablo II.
Following up is the Wizard, seen at 1:47 with three floating rocks rotating in her offhand, which faintly glow with floaty energy.
And finally, in the final encounter of the video beginning at 6:59, the Wizard (wielding an arcane sword, I might add) is carrying some kind of floating clear orb.
It appears that all offhand items in this video temporarily vanish while casting. Whether that is intentional will remain to be seen. Also, based on the themes behind the items shown, one can assume they are class-specific, but what do you think? Do you think these will be the primary additions to skill damage, apart from Runes and leveling? How many types and tiers of offhand item graphics do you expect or hope to see?
Additionally, feel free to post any cool ideas for offhand item graphics that you would like your D3 main to wield. -

Ever posted a message on RMAH - My issue, no more elitismMy issue with the RMAH aren't that it:Posted in: Old Trading
-messes up PVP
-is Blizzard trying to make an extra dime
-encourages farming
I'm just going to come out and say it:
-My issue with the RMAH is that it ruins elitism / uniqueness / tiers of players.
I don't want to be assumptive, but I'd say that the majority of D2's playability was for the love of the gearhunt, the chance of an extremely rare item dropping, and for the love of MF. I loved D2 for this reason.
That said, my personal issue with the RMAH is it could take away from this. Does it bug me that someone else could simply buy a nicer item than me? No, not really, but I'd say it's relitive. If these items go for a relitively high price, say $50, then go for it. But if farming becomes so rampant, as a direct result of the RMAH being implimented, and super elite items are deflated to just a few bucks and thus everyone has them, then I say what's the point? (this is a statement my personal opinion and won't be swayed with other people's explanations)
Sure, I too enjoy the hunt for the sake of the hunt. But I also liked feeling unique (IE rare) as a result as well. Look at WoW. The game completely changed post Vanilla Naxx when arenas, PVP and emblems were released.
I'm curious about hearing from other people who come out and agree with this. You too liked gearhunting in D2 for the rarity amongst the community. So save your devil's advocate replies if you disagree, which I know many will. Yes, I like elitism. Yes, I compare myselves to others in a lolvideogame. Yes, I think it's funny that I'd worry about other people's gaming when compared to mine. And yes, this is why I play online, not offline, in the first place. I like communities, I like focus groups, I like heirarchies and I like tiers. This is what made Vanilla WoW and D2 enjoyable and is what personally made me excited to get better - to have rare stuff that I was proud of because not everyone else did. And not because I'm actually egotistical or even jealous at heart, beacuse I'm not. Rather, all of this simply for the love of the hunt for rare goodies! I don't consider something rare if everyone else has it, no matter the color of the item's writing.
TLDR: RMAH gives an incentive (RM) for people to farm who otherwise wouldn't care to farm. More people farming = deflation of rarity. This is undeniable.
What's deniable is my opinion of this actual deflation. Some could say who cares about deflation. I personally do care. If not, why should there be rare items in the first place...? - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.

It's a smart idea in the foundation to fool people into believing that acting nice towards another will grant a good afterlife, salvation from the circle of reincarnation et cetera. It's an easy way to get a better community.
I don't believe in karma but I do believe your environment will react if you behave bad, that's just natural.
And to me life just proves from time to time that there is no greater power since good people get punished while evil get away, for example my always kind grandmother died yesterday at age ~70 while my selfish, greedy great grandmother at age ~98 who has smoked since she was 18 still lives. If that's not proof enough I don't know what is.
Edit: Just to clarify I'm not bashing people who believe in the supernatural creation, only that someone creating humans out of nothing is only something made up by normal humans to fool people.
I, if you haven't noticed from my text believe in science when it comes to things like this.
